One Piece Nine Tails - Chapter 262
Sengoku laughed, and Garp laughed too.
Vega punk’s question was essentially unnecessary.
If Garp backed down now, he wouldn’t be Garp at all.
“A right arm with its own consciousness?” Garp grinned. “What kind of Devil Fruit is it?”
Hearing this, Vegapunk looked a bit frustrated. “A rather failed Devil Fruit.”
Failed? Garp’s heart skipped a beat. Could it be the Human-Human Fruit, Mud Type, or Subordinate Form?
Vegapunk sighed. “When we captured Kaido, we extracted some of his lineage factors and used them to create a Devil Fruit.”
“Kaido, huh?” Garp thought back to the kid from the Rocks Pirates, quite powerful.
He’d heard Kaido was now causing havoc in the New World, a primary target for the Navy.
Kaido’s capture had been challenging; they’d caught him before, but he’d escaped.
“His Devil Fruit… if I remember, it’s the Fish-Fish Fruit, Mythical Zoan, Azure Dragon form, right?”
“Mythical Zoan?” Sengokuneeded to become morey familiar with current pirates. He retired shortly after Kaido ate the Azure Dragon Fruit, so he must be made aware.
“Yes, Mythical Zoan,” Vegapunk said. “Unfortunately, my replication failed. It seems the world can’t produce identical abilities.”
“Failed?” Garp was curious.
But Sengoku remained calm. “Don’t worry. Punk’s failures aren’t like ordinary failures.”
“No, failure is failure,” Vegapunk insisted. “Kaido’s dragon is azure, but my replication only turns red, making it essentially a Red Dragon Fruit!”
Vegapunk neededinitially needed twenty years to replicate Kaido’s Azure Dragon Fruit, which Momonosuke eventually ate. But Vegapunk, having delved deeply into life sciences, understood much more now.
He wasn’t creating a Devil Fruit for someone to eat; he just needed an arm to fuse with it.
He used Kaido’s lineage factors to transfer the Azure Dragon Fruit’s power into this arm.
Adding Kaijin cells to activate it, the arm was complete.
But the Devil Fruit was less successful. Itss consciousnesswas quite violent, more so than typical Zoan fruits.
Yet, no other Devil Fruit could compare to a Mythical Zoan.
The World Government wouldn’t waste a real Mythical Zoan or Logia as fusion material, as one fruit could create a top-tier powerhouse.
Vegapunk explained this to Garp, who laughed heartily. “No problem, I’ll take good care of it.”
He then asked, “This arm won’t affect me, right? I mean, I won’t become like a Devil Fruit user, unable to swim?”
“No, no!” Vegapunk assured him. “Even if you fuse, only the arm ate the fruit. Its abilities won’t affect you, so you can still swim. The arm will just be weak in seawater.”
“And thanks to the Kaijin cells, it’s not that afraid of water.”
“That’s good.”
Garp eagerly asked, “When can we start?”
“I think, right now.”
Vegapunk confidently said, “Unlike Ann’s Shadow Cutter, your struggle will begin after fusion, primarily over control.”
“But don’t worry. Even if you fail, your consciousness won’t vanish. You’ll be suppressed by the arm but still have chances to reclaim control.”
“So, this guy won’t disappear either?” Garp was confident.
“Exactly. Having a soul is fundamental to the arm’s activation.” Vegapunk warned, “But remember, the Devil Fruit consciousness polluted by Kaijin cells is very ferocious.”
Garp nodded. He had seen Ann’s Shadow Cutter, a strong sword only she could wield.
Ann had lived with Shadow Cutter for years, barely gaining its recognition recently. This arm would be even more formidable.
A Zoan-type Devil Fruit, a replicated Mythical Zoan, its consciousness must be extraordinarily fierce after Kaijin cell activation.
“But you’ve had super soldier serum, so it should be fine.”
Vegapunk pressed a button. A mechanical arm lifted the right arm, bringing it to Garp.
Garp was excited. He watched as the arm approached his stump, a sticky liquid bonding it to him.
As it fused, Garp’s pupils dilated. He felt a sound only he could hear, like a monster’s roar, and saw a massive red dragon head lunging at him.
“Stay put!”
Garp grinned, his powerful Armament Haki covering his left fist, punching the dragon’s head. The forces were evenly matched.
In that instant, he and the arm became one, their fight internal, their strengths balanced.
Externally, Garp’s right arm transformed, turning re. It hadh dragon scales and a dragon etched on it, surrounded by clouds and fire.
The arm shifted between dragon and human forms, like a Zoan user.
“Garp…”
Sengoku murmured, watching the changing Garp.
“He found a good arm.”
An arm infused with a replicated Azure Dragon Fruit, yet unaffected by seawater, Garp…
He should soon be ready to hunt pirates in the New World again, right?
