One Piece Quest Fruit - Chapter 31
After Lila learned about Sunny’s strategist cat lineage, the situation with the Devil Fruits, and the mission fruit, Eust asked her, “Lila, now that you know the specifics of the mission fruit, would you like to become the second mission executor?”
“Of course I would! Gaining strength through completing missions without the drawbacks of seawater and Sea Prism Stone sounds great. But isn’t the position of mission executor very precious? Are you really giving it to me, Eust?”
“Of course, Lila. You are our companion, and we won’t forget you when there are benefits. It’s important for you to have some ability to protect yourself in dangerous situations. Sunny agrees too.”
“Meow, I really like Lila, so I’m happy to share the second mission executor spot with her.”
“Thank you, Eust, and thank you, Sunny. But don’t think you’ll move me so easily!”
“Meow, please be aware that I’m activating the mission fruit’s ability now.”
Three minutes later.
“I don’t feel any different,” Lila voiced Eust’s confusion.
“Meow, you weren’t supposed to feel any different!”
“Then, Sunny, what was the big deal about being careful?” Eust asked.
“Meow, to see if I developed an aura of a leader!” Sunny said innocently.
Both Eust and Lila responded with a gentle knock on Sunny’s head, leaving a bump as evidence.
“Alright, we forgive you, Sunny. Can you tell us the differences between the first and second mission executors?” Eust got back to the main topic.
“Meow, you just hit me, and now you want answers? No way, unless I get to hit you back.”
“Sunny, didn’t Lila also give you a love tap?”
“Meow, how could you compare yourself to Lila?”
“Sunny, don’t be angry. I also want to know the differences between the executors. Please tell us,” Lila coaxed.
“Meow, okay, for Lila’s sake, I’ll generously forgive Eust’s rudeness.”
“Meow, the two mission executors’ tasks are relatively independent. Eust’s missions won’t affect Lila’s and vice versa. The process of taking and completing missions is the same for both.”
“Meow, the major difference lies in the mission reward allocation. Due to my special relationship with Eust, the first executor’s reward distribution rights are much larger, which affects the second executor.”
“Meow, for instance, Eust’s reward share ranges from 10% to 90%, with me getting the remainder, adjustable by 10% increments. Currently, there are three schemes: 50-50, 60-40, and 40-60.”
“Meow, Lila’s reward share is more unique. Her range is from 10% to 50%, with the remainder split between me and Eust based on the first executor’s reward distribution.”
“So, Sunny, Eust’s authority is on par with yours?” Lila asked, puzzled.
“Meow, that’s correct. Although I ate the mission fruit, the strategist cat tribe’s special nature and my relationship with Eust mean he has the same rights to mission rewards as I do.”
Eust, feeling quite smug, added, “Sunny, what’s Lila’s current reward share?”
“Meow, her default share was only 10%, but I’ve just changed it to 20%,” Sunny revealed.
“What? If I work hard to complete missions, Eust will get more rewards than me for doing nothing?” Lila exclaimed.
“Lila, you shouldn’t think that way. Becoming a mission executor is a benefit in itself,” Eust tried to console her.
“But without comparison, there’s no harm. I was happy to become an executor until I realized the unequal treatment!” Lila remained upset.
“Well, Sunny is my cat after all,” Eust said with a mischievous grin, unaware of the impending danger.
“Whack!” Eust received a playful thump from Lila, leaving him with a bump similar to Sunny’s.
“Sunny is not just yours, Eust. Sunny is also mine,” Lila declared firmly.
“Yes, yes, Sunny is also Lila’s,” Eust conceded quickly.
After the commotion, Eust steered the conversation back to serious matters, asking about Lila’s strength. He learned that Lila’s physical condition was surprisingly good, almost matching an average adult’s. Despite her petite frame, her strength and speed were impressive, hinting at her rigorous training.
Eust planned to stay on Lighting Island for a few days to complete two missions, gather information, and then continue his adventure. This place was more connected than Quiz Island and warranted a brief stay.
Eust asked Lila about her mission preferences, suggesting she choose training and life missions with rewards focused on strength enhancement. Eust saw Lila as a cook and logistician, but her combat abilities shouldn’t be weak.
Lila, however, wanted to prioritize life missions but also try training missions, hoping for strength-related rewards in the latter.
“Meow, Lila, are you interested in training missions too?”
“Of course. Sailing the seas without strength is dangerous. I need the ability to protect myself.”
“Alright, Sunny, let’s issue Lila a training mission based on Plan A,” Eust instructed.
“Sure, Sunny, I want to try this training mission,” Lila said confidently.
“Meow, no problem.”
“Meow, Lila’s mission: Choose a training mission. Complete an 8×10 km run within 24 hours. The reward is a slight enhancement in physical fitness. The penalty is losing hearing for 24 hours.”
“Oh, so this is my mission. It shouldn’t be a problem.”
“Sunny, how are the penalties assigned?” Eust wondered.
“Meow, Eust, I hadn’t noticed before, but it seems Lila will bear the penalty alone. Strange.”
“So, our mission penalties are shared, meaning they’re halved and then shared between us?” Eust asked, curious.
“Meow, I’m not sure, as we haven’t encountered it before. But the penalties are indeed shared between us,” Sunny confirmed.
“Sunny, Eust, this is so unfair to me!” Lila was frustrated, feeling slighted.
Eust and Sunny both gave helpless looks, silently blaming the mission fruit.
“Lila, don’t mind it too much. A little pain in the storm is nothing. Wipe your tears and don’t ask why…” Eust hadn’t finished when he received another playful thump from Lila.
“Sunny, quickly, issue me a mission based on Plan A as well,” Eust requested after his playful hit.
“Meow, OK.”
“Meow, choose a training mission. Complete 12,000 sets of basic sword slashes and strikes within 24 hours. The reward is a slight enhancement in physical fitness. The penalty is losing vision for 24 hours.”
“Well, the difficulty has increased. I’ll need to work harder this time. Lila, Sunny, let’s embrace our youthful vigor!” Eust beamed, showing his bright smile.
They responded with two pairs of rolling eyes.
Even if Eust didn’t realize it, he should have seen from their eyes how they felt about his antics.
