One Piece Quest Fruit - Chapter 35
Having sustained an injury, Eust won the duel with the swordsman and returned to the inn that night. To help Lila stabilize her emotions, he didn’t inspect the spoils of battle immediately.
The next morning, after breakfast, Eust noticed that Lila’s mood had stabilized. He decided to review the spoils from the previous day’s battle.
Regardless of what the loot might be, Eust always felt a thrill when examining the spoils, akin to opening a treasure chest. The unknown held great interest, but the details often dulled the excitement.
Returning to their room, Eust had Sunny retrieve the loot. Eust carefully sorted through it. The previous day, he had only done a cursory check. Who knows, maybe there was a treasure map hidden among the items?
Last time, Eust and Sunny had dealt with Bloodblade Karl and unexpectedly found a Devil Fruit among the loot, along with a significant amount of treasure. That had been a stroke of luck, probably Jack the Extortionist’s hoard or his ill-gotten gains over the years.
After a thorough inspection, Eust found that the most valuable item was the sword belonging to Desli, the enemy leader. Based on Desli’s mention and the sword’s design, it seemed to be part of the same series as Eust’s “Tigress Blade.”
Desli, in the end, did not obtain the “Tigress Blade.” Instead, he lost his life and served as a “delivery man.”
The loot also included some Berries, a few gold coins, two long swords, a dagger, and several items of unknown use.
Eust had Sunny store the loot again, planning to dispose of the unknown items later while keeping the valuable goods and weapons.
Holding the sword comparable in quality to his “Tigress Blade,” Eust examined it closely but found nothing remarkable. Feeling a bit awkward under Lila and Sunny’s watchful eyes, he decided to start a conversation.
“This sword is pretty good. I’d like to name it. Lila, Sunny, any suggestions?”
“Meow, didn’t you say my naming skills were poor? I’ll sit this one out,” Sunny replied.
“Eust, give me a moment. I’ll come up with a cute name,” Lila suggested.
“Uh, no cute names. I need something more imposing.”
“Eust, since you have the Tigress Blade, why not name this one Dragon Blade?” Lila proposed.
“What? Is my cloud brother here?”
“Eust, who’s this cloud brother?” Lila asked, confused.
“Uh, never mind. Dragon Blade doesn’t quite fit.”
“How about Big Dragon?”
“Not suitable. In the alliance, Big Dragon dies many times a day.”
“How about Old Dragon?”
“Also unsuitable. This isn’t a mythical journey. Let’s leave Old Dragon alone.”
“Forget it. You decide, Eust!”
“Meow, Eust’s decision is fine.”
“Uh, Sunny, that sounds familiar. Anyway, I’ll think of something myself.”
Eust thought hard and eventually fell asleep, only to be “nudged” awake.
“Uh, what’s going on?”
“Have you decided on the name for the sword?”
“Yes, I have. I dreamt of fighting in my sleep. Wait, that’s not right. I dreamt of wielding a sword. This sword will be called Frost Moon. Frost strikes the withered leaves, the autumn wind comes, and the sword dances under the moon, chilling the heart.”
“Oh, that’s a nice name. But what does Tigress mean?”
“Uh, Tigress was a name I came up with randomly. It signifies the first high-quality weapon I obtained. Frost Moon is the second.”
“Does this mean you’re a dual-sword swordsman?”
“I’m not a dual-sword swordsman, I use a single sword style. My basic swordsmanship is decent, but I’m still a low-level swordsman. I can’t cut steel or unleash slashes. I plan to stick with the single sword style. There’s no need to pursue dual swords.”
“But even if I don’t use two swords, it’s satisfying to own them. Besides, I can give them to our companions in the future. If you want, Lila, you can have one.”
“I’m not fond of long swords, and I should be a non-combat member, right? You and Sunny will need to protect me.”
“Of course, Sunny and I will protect you.”
“Meow, Sunny is very strong.”
“Just kidding. I’ll also work hard to gain some self-defense skills and not be a burden.”
“Good. It’s best to have your own strength. In critical situations, Sunny and I might not be able to help in time. Recognizing the world’s harshness and striving to improve yourself is essential to achieving your dreams.”
“Yes, with the mission fruit’s help, we can enhance our abilities quickly.”
“We’ve reviewed the loot and named the sword. Let’s discuss the next issue. Sunny, can you use the mission fruit to issue a new mission now?”
“Meow, yes. The mission fruit’s ability cooldown is not fixed. It seems to recover faster at night.”
“Great. We shouldn’t slack off. My shoulder is injured, so I’ll choose a life mission this time. Lila, I suggest you do the same. What do you think?”
“I agree with you, Eust. My main goal is life missions. I want to get a life mission related to navigation skills, with rewards also aligned with navigation.”
“Alright. I want to learn information-gathering skills. Knowing yourself and your enemy ensures victory. Whether adventuring or searching for treasures, information is crucial. It’ll also help us recruit suitable crew members, find the right ship, and avoid danger.”
Eust had considered learning information-gathering skills before setting sail. His life missions mainly involved navigation and intelligence gathering.
Initially, he focused on navigation. Once he reached a certain level, he planned to specialize in intelligence. His habit of gathering information was a testament to his emphasis on it.
Now that Lila was interested in navigation, Eust chose intelligence gathering.
“Meow, got it. Should I follow the A Plan template?”
“Uh, follow the latter part of A Plan or disregard it altogether. This time, we’ll choose life missions with life skill rewards, keeping rewards and penalties balanced and the duration around one day.”
“Meow, understood.”
“Meow, Eust’s mission: Choose a life mission. Within 24 hours, gather basic information on Desli’s gang and devise a corresponding action plan. The reward is increased sensitivity to information. The penalty is an unknown crisis.”
“Wow, I didn’t expect there to be more about Desli’s gang. The penalty is an unknown danger. Can the mission fruit predict the future? We can’t ignore this mission. Whether we take it or not, an unknown danger is approaching.”
“Eust, you quickly deduced a lot of information. What should we do?”
“Don’t worry. I’ve completed many missions from the mission fruit without encountering hopeless ones. This mission shouldn’t be an exception. If we don’t investigate Desli’s gang, we’ll face unknown dangers. By uncovering the truth, we can better prepare.”
