One Piece Quest Fruit - Chapter 41
The day after Eust gathered information about Ghost Island, during the cooldown period of the Mission Fruit ability, Eust and his crew focused on recuperation and adjustments.
Eust was busy practicing the Iai Slash. The injury on his left shoulder didn’t significantly affect his combat abilities, but the Iai Slash required a steady left hand, at lEust to hold the scabbard firmly.
Eust had to fix the scabbard in place and practiced drawing the sword clumsily, trying to draw it quickly.
The good news was that the wound on Eust’s left shoulder had scabbed over, and it would heal completely in a few days.
Lyra was diligently learning navigation skills and frequently asked Eust related questions. Eust could answer most of them, but for those he couldn’t, Lyra had to find the answers herself or temporarily set them aside.
Eust only mastered basic navigation skills, and despite receiving rewards from the Mission Fruit, he still had questions he couldn’t answer.
Lyra’s progress in learning navigation was rapid, but she also found time to prepare food for Eust and Sunny. Sunny was very happy about this, as Lyra wouldn’t be lazy like Eust, who only prepared food during meal times.
Sunny’s injuries had mostly healed, and she was undergoing recovery training while rolling around and being cute, making Eust and Lyra laugh.
Sunny, being a young strategist cat, naturally had childlike traits, which everyone tolerated because she was so adorable.
Eust also consciously adjusted Sunny’s worldview, ensuring she developed the right moral compass.
Exaggeratingly, if Sunny grew up to be a villain, Eust would be heartbroken. Even less dramatically, it would be unacceptable for her to become a fool, directionally challenged, obsessed, miserly, or perverted.
The day after recuperation, Eust had Sunny issue new missions. Lyra’s mission was related to navigation skills, while Eust’s was a swordsmanship training mission.
Sunny could issue the missions Eust requested because her control over the Mission Fruit had strengthened.
Previously, exercise missions couldn’t affect the specific focus or rewards of the training, only determining that it was a training mission with strength-related rewards.
Now, while she still couldn’t influence specific reward content, she could affect the training focus by choosing between physical training and swordsmanship training.
This applied only to training missions. Sunny’s control was higher for life missions, and she could influence the focus and rewards from the start.
However, Sunny had the lEust control over hunting missions, unable to influence the mission content or focus. The requirements were the strictest, with the most unpredictable rewards.
Sunny stated that once she fully mastered the Mission Fruit’s abilities, she could set the mission focus and specific rewards for any type of mission, making the Mission Fruit much more useful.
For this mission, Eust’s reward was a slight improvement in physical fitness, and Lyra’s reward was a slight increase in navigation knowledge.
The day after completing the mission, the side effects of Sunny’s transformation had disappeared, her potential internal injuries healed, and Eust’s shoulder was almost fully recovered. With the preparations complete, Eust decided to set sail immediately.
Gathering supplies on Lightning Island was easy. The shop assistants would even deliver Berries as long as they had Berries. Eust wouldn’t run out of Berries anytime soon, so getting supplies was no problem.
Fully prepared, Eust gave the order to set sail. With no one to help, Eust had to raise the sails himself. Sunny couldn’t do it, and while Lyra could barely handle the sails, Eust wouldn’t let her.
Even though Lyra was 15 and as strong as an average adult, she looked 12 or 13, and being a girl, Eust couldn’t bear to make her do physical labor. So he operated the sails himself.
They sailed by day and rested at night. Since Ghost Island wasn’t far from Lightning Island, they arrived by the afternoon of the second day.
Eust docked the boat at the pier, finding it unmanaged. Lyra worried about someone stealing the boat, which would be a significant inconvenience. They decided to hide the boat in a secluded spot.
Poor Captain Eust didn’t even have a crew to guard the boat. The small boat was decent, but did Eust really think he could explore the Grand Line with it? He had a long way to go, needing both a crew and a proper ship.
Eust knew that encountering “Missy” Lyra just after setting sail was pure luck. Finding future companions was uncertain. He didn’t want to raise a pirate flag and gather unreliable pirate underlings, preferring to search for crew members one by one, like Luffy.
Reflecting on this, Eust and Lyra hid the boat and officially set foot on Ghost Island. But how would they find the ghost ship?
That was a real problem. Unfamiliar with the place, they decided to start by exploring the village.
At the village’s only restaurant, Eust and his crew ordered some food. During the meal, Eust asked the owner about the ghost ship.
The owner was straightforward, providing Eust with much information, though it was all information Eust had already gathered.
The owner didn’t know where the ghost ship was or if it had left Spike Island. However, his business improved as more people inquired about it, which he shared with everyone.
Eust initially thought the owner was being kind, but the conversation revealed that he treated every customer the same. Spreading information about the ghost ship might actually help his business, showing he was a savvy businessman, unlike Eust.
The restaurant owner also told Eust that another group on the island was also seeking information about the ghost ship. They seemed tough, so the owner warned Eust to be careful, which piqued Eust’s interest.
Eust hated it when someone else succeeded just as he was about to. He immediately saw the other group as competitors. If they were tough, so was he.
Since there was no new information at the restaurant, Eust and his crew left after eating.
Eust planned to scout the terrain first. The ghost ship was still a ship and, being a physical entity should share characteristics with other ships, or so Eust reasoned.
