One Piece Seat Void - Chapter 224
“New World, Greylawn Island.”
Layfield looked surprised as the longsword pierced through his chest.
“Cough…” He coughed and spat out a mouthful of blood. Layfield raised his head to look at Locke.
“Cough, cough, I never thought I’d end my days like this. It’s a bit hard to accept.” Locke lowered his head and pulled the sword, An, out of Layfield’s chest. The blade shimmered with crimson light, radiating an intense cold.
“Originally, I didn’t want to deal with you so soon, as this sea hasn’t stabilized enough yet. But since you’re so eager to meet your end, I don’t mind sending you down.”
At this moment, Layfield, lying on the ground, seemed to have seen through Locke’s inner thoughts. He suddenly burst into laughter, paying no heed to his injuries and letting blood flow from his mouth.
“Heh, hehe, cough, cough, hahaha!”
“Youngster, I never thought you still harbored such ideals. No wonder you possess that level of Haki. I underestimated you.”
“Although it’s regrettable, I’ll be watching from below to see how you fulfill your wishes!” After saying this final statement, Layfield smiled, closed his eyes, and completely lost his life. Watching Layfield lose his life, Locke lifted his sword.
“An, it’s your turn to perform.”
“Bang.” A cloud of smoke surrounded An, transforming into a cute little bat that flapped its wings and flew in front of Locke.
“Yes, Captain Locke, just watch me!”
After speaking, An flapped her wings and flew to Layfield’s neck, revealing sharp fangs that she thrust into it. A burst of red light flashed, and Layfield’s lifeless body began to convulse wildly.
Finally, after ten minutes, the red light dissipated, and a somewhat exhausted An flew to Locke’s shoulder to rest.
“Captain Locke, I’ve done it.” Locke reached out and rubbed An’s bat head, then looked at Layfield.
“Ugh…” There was a muffled groan, and Layfield, who had lost his life, slowly sat up, his wounds completely healed.
“Master.” Layfield got up, his eyes crimsoning as he looked at Lox for a moment, then bowed respectfully.
“Well, from now on, you’ll protect me.” Locke gave a casual order and walked straight to the harbor without looking back.
“Yes, Master.” Hearing Locke’s command, Layfield obediently replied. In the air, Viza and Aelurus, who had watched the battle, looked at Layfield, who suddenly showed great respect for Locke with utter astonishment.
They had no idea what had happened, but they were certain it had something to do with the little bat on Locke’s shoulder.
Aelurus and Viza landed and walked to Locke’s side, following him closely.v”Captain Locke, what happened to Layfield? Didn’t you just finish him off?”
Aelurus couldn’t contain her curiosity any longer and asked. Viza, too, looked at Locke with great curiosity, waiting for his answer.
Locke patted An on his shoulder and replied, “This is because of An’s ability to become a vampire with the Animal-Mythical Zoan-type bat fruit she consumed.”
“An? A vampire ability?” Hearing Locke’s words, both of them began to understand. They were aware that An had consumed the Animal-Mythical Zoan-type ability, and they knew a bit about the effects of that ability.
“The vampire ability has a powerful and fundamental skill, the power to create a Blood Slave.”
“Creating an obedient Blood Slave isn’t that easy; it requires the user to pay half their life as a price.”
“However, because of this price, past users of the ability have refrained from using it.”
“But An’s true form is a sword, and for a sword, life is limitless, so this price means nothing to her; at most, it will make her weaker for a while.”
After receiving Locke’s complete explanation, Aelurus and Viza were both astonished. According to Locke’s explanation, they could now create a batch of extremely loyal troops using An’s ability.
“What about their strength? As Blood Slaves, how much of their former power can they retain?” Viza, unusually, proactively asked.
“Blood Slaves’ strength is calculated based on their strength when they were alive. The stronger they were in life, the stronger they are as Blood Slaves, preserving almost seventy percent of their former strength.
Furthermore, because they are Blood Slaves, as long as the user who created them is alive, they can live forever.” Viza and Aelurus both sank into thought at the same time.
This ability was somewhat terrifying. If it were exposed, it would surely instill fear in countless people on the high seas.
“Alright, now that you both know this, it’s not the time to reveal it. Go and notify all our comrades; we’re preparing to return to Grimms.”
“Oh, alright, Captain Locke, leave it to me.” Upon hearing this, Aelurus immediately stood up and flew out.
“Locke, with Layfield resolved, what’s next for our pirate crew?”
Viza looked at Locke, then at Layfield behind him, and asked expectantly.
Since Locke possessed such formidable power, he was eager to do something more. Locke glanced at Viza, chuckled lightly, and said, “Viza, don’t be in a hurry. Kaido, that guy, is still useful for now. Besides, I can’t reveal my ability just yet.”
“However, there’s still work to be done. You know we have an altar in Sleepy Hollow Town that can extract others’ Devil Fruit abilities.”
“Ah, I understand.” Viza already knew what Locke meant. Since there was such an altar, the next step was to find people with powerful abilities but weak physical strength.
There were still many members in Locke’s pirate crew who didn’t have abilities. The pirate crew could use the altar to form a tremendously powerful Abilities Corps.
When this Abilities Corps was fully formed, Locke’s pirate crew would truly rule the New World and become the ultimate rulers.
By then, even if Locke hadn’t reached Raftel, he would still be a legitimate Pirate King.
“Viza, once we return to Grimms, after you’ve rested for a while, I’ll entrust the task of forming the Abilities Corps to you.”
“Ah, it’s quite a hassle, but don’t worry; leave it to me. I’ll do the task well.”
