One Piece Seat Void - Chapter 233
“Haiyuan Calendar, 1497.
After Roger became the Pirate King, they appeared surprisingly calm. Nobody could find Roger’s Pirate Crew, leaving many who aspired to defeat them and Roger to become the new Pirate King in despair.
Meanwhile, many major powers quietly strengthened their forces, adding to the overall sense of tranquility before the impending storm. The apprehension before the approaching storm weighed heavily on countless hearts.
At Etwal Sea, Wood Island
On this island, there is a military legion consisting of around five hundred Devil Fruit users. They are the elite forces of Locke’s Pirate Crew.
Over the past few years, Locke’s Pirate Crew has adopted orphans from various orphanages and other places, nurturing them into the most loyal warriors of Locke’s Pirate Crew.
Locke’s Pirate Crew bestowed them with powerful Devil Fruits plundered from the Grand Line, making them formidable Devil Fruit users.
Barrett serves as their instructor, leading their training. Among the trainees, there is a small figure blending in.
“Remember, everyone, this sea is incredibly brutal. To survive, you must possess sufficient strength. The Locke’s Pirate Crew has given you the tools to be strong, so never betray us,” Barrett continually reprimands the youths during their training.
“Ares, as Locke’s son, you can’t disgrace your father. In the future, you’ll train here with them. You can leave once you can withstand three punches from me,” Barrett says, chuckling at Ares’s stubborn expression.
Ares isn’t pleased about his sudden shift from playing with Louis and Spiro in the city to training with a group of eleven- and twelve-year-olds. However, looking at Louis and Spiro and sensing their thoughts, he becomes less irritated.
And apparently, picking up on Ares’s change of heart, Louis immediately glares at him angrily. “Argh, Ares, if it weren’t for you, Missy wouldn’t have been captured and brought here,” Louis snaps, itching to take a bite out of him.
“Yeah, Ares, if it weren’t for you dragging us into pranks in the city, we wouldn’t have ended up here. And my idiot dad hasn’t even come to rescue me yet,” Spiro grumbles.
Though they complain, the three of them haven’t thrown a fit and are diligently engaged in training, listening to their instructor’s lessons and practicing various exercises. Rather than a military camp or training base, this place more resembles an academy.
“Well, you two numbskulls! If we were brought here without our fathers’ consent, Barrett would never be able to do it. He’s too powerful, even if he had to force it,” Ares says, unsure in the face of Barrett’s terrifying strength.
“Hmph! I don’t care! Once I graduate from here, I’m going to give my parents a piece of my mind for letting their precious daughter suffer so much here,” Louis says, clearly unhappy.
“Give it up, Louis. As soon as you saw my dad, Irada, you turned into a little fangirl and now you’re talking about scolding,” Spiro exposes Louis’s tsundere facade.
“Argh! Spiro, you jerk! Are you looking for a fight?” Louis stares daggers at Spiro, unfurling two pairs of wings, shining with golden light, which sprouts from her back.
Her eyes take on an aura of majesty and holiness, her long dress transforms into golden armor, and golden flames surround her.
She looks both divine and beautiful, but her smug expression ruins the sanctity. “Ugh, don’t think I’m scared of you just because you ate the Animal-type Mythical Zoan Phoenix Fruit. I’m not afraid of you!” Spiro says, transforming into something entirely different.
An endless darkness radiates from his body, soon enveloping him entirely like a cloak. The sort of darkness that can swallow all light clings to Spiro, leaving him partially hidden. Ares watches Louis and Spiro with great interest.
“Is this their Devil Fruit power? This is the first time I’ve seen it,” Ares thinks. The other students also observe Louis and Spiro with curiosity.
“The abilities of both of them look quite powerful.”
“No wonder they’re the children of high-ranking members of the Locke’s Pirate Crew.”
“Speaking of which, has Ares eaten a Devil Fruit?”
“I doubt it, considering he’s Roger’s son. He’s probably waiting for a powerful Devil Fruit to be found for him.” Upon hearing the students discussing him, Ares grins and approaches them.
“Hey! If you want to know about me, don’t gossip behind my back! If you have questions, just ask me! And, for the record, I haven’t eaten a Devil Fruit yet. My dad is in the process of finding a powerful one for me.” Seeing the cheerful, unpretentious Ares, everyone is simultaneously impressed.
“Ha-ha-ha! Is that so, Ares? Do you know what kind of power it is?” One tall, muscular boy with a square face asks cheerfully, approaching Ares.
“Oh, the power? It’s said to be an ability capable of nullifying all Devil Fruit powers. How’s that? It sounds quite powerful, doesn’t it?” Ares reveals the ability without hesitation.
The revelation leads to gasps of astonishment from everyone. “An ability that can nullify all Devil Fruit powers?! Does something like that really exist in this world?”
“It’s unbelievable! I never thought there could be an ability like that. Ares, you’ll be invincible from now on!”
“Invincible? Ha-ha-ha! That’s right, from now on, I’ll be invincible! So, anyone here willing to join my future pirate crew?” Ares is full of himself, convinced that he will become the most powerful person in the world.
Yes, in his current state of arrogance, he is anything but humble. “Ha-ha, if you can defeat me, I don’t mind becoming your crewmate.” A tall and handsome boy with golden hair and a muscular figure walks up to Ares with a cheerful demeanor.
“I’m Chris, twelve years old, and I have the Devil Fruit power of the Ancient Zoan-type Sabertooth Tiger.” Ares looks up at Chris with an excited smile.
“Ha-ha-ha! It’s a deal then. Once I defeat you, you’ll become my partner.”
