One Piece Seat Void - Chapter 238
“Kaigen Calendar, January 1, 1498. On this day, the Pirate King Roger was executed in his hometown, Loguetown.
Because of Roger’s last words, the entire world witnessed a surge of pirate frenzy. Countless people abandoned their families and rushed to the sea. Many homeless and unfortunate souls also set sail.
Under the impact of this wave, the entire sea erupted in a hail of cannon fire. Both the Grand Line and the Four Blues plunged into a raging war. All factions faced attacks from numerous rookie pirates.
Whether it was the World Government, belonging to the Charlotte family, or the Etwar Sea led by the Rocks Pirates, riots were erupting everywhere. However, these riots were quickly quelled.
In addition to the small news reports that kept coming in, one piece of news shocked countless people. On the same day as Pirate King Roger’s execution, the Locke Pirates’ executive, Kurozumi Moria, engaged in a fierce conflict with Admiral Sengoku.
After a great battle, Moria was defeated, captured, and imprisoned in the Impel Down prison, specifically on Level 6, known as “Inpeldown.” This news undoubtedly left many anxious people, considering the Rocks Pirates were known for their loyalty.
When Moria was arrested and sent to Impel Down, one of the Three Calamities of the Rocks Pirates, the Sky Dragon Viceroy, led a group of pirates to attack the Marine G5 base.
The entire base was decimated, and even the base’s commander, Vice Admiral Durant, fell to the Viceroy’s wrath.
The Locke Pirates’ actions were undoubtedly a warning and declaration of war against the Marines. The Marines, insulted for the first time, responded just as firmly. They dispatched Vice Admirals Sakazuki, Borsalino, and several Marine Admirals to support the G1 base in the New World.
This situation led to a standoff between the Locke Pirates and the Marines. War seemed imminent. In the Marine Headquarters, a Vice Admiral clad in a sky-blue suit, exuding a cold aura and wearing the exclusive Justice cape of a Vice Admiral, walked out of Vice Admiral Crane’s office.
“Moria…,” murmured Vice Admiral Sengoku under his breath. He then headed to the port and boarded his flagship.
“Set sail for Impel Down. I want to see Moria.” Vice Admiral Sengoku said coldly to his subordinate as he entered the captain’s quarters.
“Yes, Vice Admiral Sengoku!”
The subordinate saluted respectfully and quickly ordered the Marines to set sail. In the Impel Down prison, Level 6, within a vast cell, Moria sat cross-legged in the cold, dark cell.
At that moment, he looked disheveled. His tall figure was covered in various scars, and his once elegant suit was now in tatters. His feet were shackled with thick sea stone handcuffs.
“Hey, new kid brought in! What year is it in the Kaigen Calendar now?”
While Moria was trying to rest with his eyes closed, a hoarse voice came from a withered man in a neighboring cell.
Moria slowly opened his eyes and turned to look at the man. “Hehehe, it’s already 1498 in the Kaigen Calendar. What’s it to you, older man? Seems like you’ve been here for quite a while, huh?”
Upon hearing Moria’s mocking words, the man’s expression changed slightly, but he quickly composed himself. “Ah, I’ve been here for almost 20 years. It’s hard to say, but it’s been quite a long time.”
The man seemed to be reminiscing and then suddenly went crazy. He repeatedly banged his head against the hard wall, causing it to bleed.
“Damn, seastone! I’ll kill you! Kill you! Kill you!” Morosely glancing at the man who had gone insane due to his long confinement, Moria nodded in resignation. During this time, he had seen too many people develop mental issues from their extended imprisonment.
“What a bunch of pitiful souls. Hehehe.” Hearing Moria’s laughter, a man in a nearby cell looked at him. “Hey, newcomer, you seem to be in good spirits.”
“Hehe, of course. After all, this is Impel Down, and as a pirate, it’s my first time here. Anyway, this should be worth celebrating. Moria replied with a mischievous smile.
“Hmph, you’re a strange one. But you won’t be smiling for long. This might be where you’ll spend the rest of your life.” The man sneered and then fell silent.
“Hehehe, spend my whole life here? That won’t do. After all, I have no interest in staying in this sunless prison forever.” Moria chuckled and, with his teeth, bit into the muscle of his arm, drawing blood. His entire arm became covered in blood.
As the prisoners watched Moria’s self-mutilation, the entire Level 6 fell silent. “Hehehe! Have you gone mad after being here for only a few days? You were spouting big words just a moment ago, and I thought you had a way to escape!”
“Ha-ha-ha! You won’t be talking big anymore, brat!”
“Clank, clank! Kid, throw me that piece of meat! I haven’t had meat in ages!”
The cell prisoners started making a ruckus, but Moria paid no attention. He revealed a terrifying and ferocious smile, displaying his bloodstained fangs.
“Hehehe, losers! As I’ve said, I won’t be staying here forever.” With that, Moria pulled a key out of his muscle. When the prisoners saw the key, Level 6 of Impel Down fell into a brief silence, followed by crazed shouts.
“Kid, you have a key! Quickly, let me out! I can assist you in escaping!”
“I can help too! Free me! I’ve had enough of this sunless prison!”
“I want to slaughter those Marine scum! Release me!” The prisoners went wild. When they saw the key, hope ignited within them. Moria chuckled as he looked at them, then used the key to unlock his sea stone handcuffs and cell. He walked to the center of the prison, surveying the entire Level 6.
“Hehehe! I am Moria, one of the executives of the Rocks Pirates, Kurozumi Moria! Now, I’m giving you all a chance.” With the key held high, Moria declared, “Fight! The survivors among you will be freed from this prison, and I will welcome them into the Locke Pirates as our comrades.”
“Let me see who among you can become our partners!” As Moria’s words fell, Level 6 of the prison descended into a battle frenzy. The entire Level 6 had turned into a hellish battleground.”
