One Piece Seat Void - Chapter 241
A week after the Marine meeting, another news story shook countless people. Unlike the execution of Gol D. Roger, this news made countless civilians cheer, struck fear into many pirates, and seemed entirely expected to many nobles.
In the context of the Marine system of the Three Admirals, which had not been fully staffed for over a decade, the Marines suddenly promoted three individuals to become the new Admirals.
At the same time, the former Admiral, Admiral Kizaru, was promoted to Fleet Admiral, and Admiral Zephyr became the Dean of the Marine Academy.
However, what caught the most attention was not the reassignments of Admiral Kizaru and Admiral Zephyr but the three new admirals: Sakaski, Borsalino, and Kuzan. In a very short time, they became widely known figures.
For many major pirate factions, this appointment was no surprise since these three had been top-tier Marine combatants for years before the Great Pirate Era, with impressive combat records. Many notorious pirates had been defeated by their hands and sent to Impel Down.
In the Grand Line, within a particular stretch of sea, a small boat resembling a coffin, a man wearing a black coat and hat and possessing sharp hawk-like eyes, was reading a newspaper.
This man was Dracule Mihawk, the world’s greatest swordsman. Pursuing the ultimate swordsmanship led him to challenge famous swordsmen and pirates across the seas.
Each duel left destruction in its wake, leading to his becoming a wanted pirate, but he was a loner who acted alone and never caused significant harm, which is why the Marines didn’t send commanders to pursue him.
As Mihawk was engrossed in reading the newspaper, a giant pirate ship sailed past him. “Isn’t that the swordsman who’s been getting some attention lately? What was his name again? Right, Mihawk!”
A pirate onboard recognized Mihawk and remembered his name. “Heh, heh! Dare to sail alone in the Grand Line with such a small, shabby boat. Truly audacious!” The pirate taunted, then aimed a cannon directly at Mihawk.
“So cocky. I’ll send you to your grave! Hahaha!” The pirate ignited the cannon and fired a shell straight at Mihawk.
“Hmm?” Mihawk looked up at the incoming shell, lifted his sword from its sheath, and effortlessly deflected the projectile with a swing of his blade.
“Annoying pirates.” Mihawk coldly glanced at the pirate ship and, without hesitation, raised his sword high.
“Whoosh!” With a swift motion, a massive blue slash shot out from his sword, instantly slicing the pirate ship in half. In utter shock, the pirates onboard didn’t even realize what had happened as they plummeted into the sea.
They had no idea why their ship had been inexplicably severed in two, sending them into the ocean. Having witnessed the incident, the ship’s captain staggered out of the captain’s quarters. He saw Mihawk sheathing his sword.
“You idiot! You dare to destroy my dream ship! I’ll kill you!” The ship’s captain roared angrily and transformed into a colossal ape, relentlessly pounding his chest. Mihawk seemed a bit annoyed, but he unsheathed his sword again. “What a noisy pirate crew.”
After Mihawk’s words, several massive blue slashes flew through the air, completely tearing the remnants of the pirate ship into pieces, which sank into the sea. The furious captain and his boat plunged into the depths as well.
Having dispatched the pirate crew, Mihawk acted as if it were a minor inconvenience and sheathed his sword. He continued reading his newspaper.
“I heard that the captain of the Rocks Pirates, Kozuki Oden, is the world’s strongest swordsman. I should go and test my skills in the New World.” He murmured, picked up the oars, and lazily rowed his small boat.
As for Rocks, he was in the South Blue, living quietly with Portgas D. Rouge in a peaceful village. He had chosen this remote and tranquil place because Rouge wanted their child to be born in the South. To fulfill her wish, Rocks had taken Rouge to this peaceful village.
Rocks originally planned to take Rouge back to her homeland, Baltigo Island. However, seeing over a dozen Marine warships docked at the port, he abandoned that idea. He didn’t want to stir up trouble at this time.
Now, Rocks was alone on the beach, leisurely fishing. “Hey, mister! Can you even catch a fish? Why haven’t you caught anything yet? You’re so useless!”
Beside Rocks, a little girl with pink hair tied in twin tails, wearing a worn-out dress and appearing to be only two or three years old, sat on the ground. She kept kicking her little legs and mockingly chiding Rocks.
Her name was Perona, an orphan Rocks and Rouge had found in a village. Although Rouge pitied the cute little girl and asked Rocks to adopt her, even if Rouge hadn’t suggested it, Rocks would have still wanted to take Perona back to Baltigo.
After all, Perona was an adorable child that Rocks had a soft spot for. “Hmph, Perona, if you think I can’t catch fish, why don’t you try it yourself or stop criticizing me? Rocks playfully said this to Perona with a light smile.
“Humph! I’m an excellent fisherwoman, okay? I’m just letting you save face.” Perona arrogantly retorted, puffing up her chest as if she were doing Rocks a favor.
However, her clenched fists and the sidelong glances she kept giving Rocks showed her nervousness. Rocks chuckled and ruffled Perona’s hair until her twin tails were in disarray, then he let her go.
“Alright, Little Perona, be quiet and give me a moment. Watch how I catch a big fish for our soup.”
“Hmph, I don’t believe you!”
“Bruh-bruh-bruh.” As Rocks was playfully teasing Perona, the Den Den Mushi in his pocket began to ring. Setting down his fishing rod, Rocks retrieved the Den Den Mushi and noticed it was a call from Smoker.
“Rocks, we’ve found the person you were looking for. However, he is unhinged. He keeps muttering about becoming the wealthiest man in the world.” After listening to Smoker’s report, Rocks laughed heartily.
“Oh? That guy. I arrived a bit too late. Albel, hand him the gol-gol fruit.”
Hesitating for a moment, Smoker asked, “Are you sure we should give it to this lunatic?”
“Oh, I trust him. He won’t waste the power of this Devil Fruit. Tell him I will help him become the wealthiest man in the world.”
“Alright, I understand.” After ending the call, Rocks gazed out at the distant sea.
“Heh, Guild Tesoro, don’t disappoint me, kid.”
