One Piece Shadow Army - Chapter 38
On the floating platform of the Baratie.
Barbarossa held nothing back now, knowing his heightened state had a time limit.
“Distillation: Alcohol!”
White vapor began to emanate from Barbarossa, and as he spread his arms, jets of strong-smelling alcohol sprayed around the entire floating platform of the Baratie.
“What is he doing?”
The tourists inside the restaurant, watching the battle, were confused by Barbarossa’s actions.
The chefs of the Baratie, however, understood his intent.
They knew that high-concentration alcohol could ignite quickly if exposed to flame.
Within the Liquor Pirates.
Some pirate officers already had crossbows in hand, their bolts tipped with fire.
Swish, swish, swish!
A volley of flaming arrows descended, igniting the high-concentration alcohol instantly.
In mere moments.
The alcohol Barbarossa had dispersed burst into bright flames, forming a fiery barrier around the entire floating platform of the Baratie.
Barbarossa continued to spray high-concentration alcohol towards the Baratie, aiming to burn the entire ship and everyone on it.
“Damn it!”
Sanji cursed.
This ship was Zeff’s pride and joy; he couldn’t allow it to be destroyed so easily.
“Mutton Shot!”
Sanji leaped into the air, kicking at Barbarossa with all his might.
However, Sanji was still too weak to defeat Barbarossa, and he was sent flying by a single punch from the pirate captain.
“Hahaha, all of you die!”
Barbarossa laughed maniacally, continuously spraying alcohol.
The flames on the floating platform grew more intense, making the interior of the Baratie stiflingly hot.
The tourists were gripped by panic!
The situation was dire; the Baratie’s chefs couldn’t defeat Red-Beard Barbarossa, who now intended to kill everyone.
What should they do?
What could they do?
Who could possibly save them?
One of Fullbody’s female companions, in her desperation, remembered something he had said earlier. She grabbed Fullbody’s arm, looking at him with hopeful eyes.
“Lieutenant, you can defeat that Red-Beard pirate outside, right?”
Fullbody was momentarily speechless.
Hearing her question, others also turned their attention to Fullbody.
“Lieutenant Fullbody, you’re a Navy officer from the headquarters, you should be able to handle the pirate outside, right?”
“Yes, Lieutenant, you promised you would protect us.”
“Lieutenant, didn’t you say you could defeat pirates with bounties of up to 30 million Berries? Defeating that pirate shouldn’t be a problem, right?”
Facing their hopeful and urgent inquiries, Fullbody found himself in a difficult position.
He had exaggerated his abilities greatly; he couldn’t possibly defeat someone as strong as Barbarossa.
But with the current situation, he had no choice.
Fullbody braced himself and walked out to face Barbarossa.
Under the watchful eyes of the tourists, Fullbody stepped out of the Baratie, confronting the 24-million-Berry bounty pirate, Barbarossa.
“You bastard, stop this now!”
Startled by the sudden shout, Barbarossa paused his actions, looking curiously towards the restaurant’s entrance.
There stood a man with pink hair, wearing a white shirt and a Navy coat.
This Navy officer had a rather plain appearance, slightly dark skin, and was quite unremarkable.
“A Navy officer?”
Barbarossa asked.
“Yes, a Navy headquarters lieutenant!”
Fullbody maintained a proud demeanor, hoping that the reputation of the Navy headquarters would intimidate Barbarossa.
“Headquarters?” Barbarossa was surprised to find a headquarters lieutenant here in the Baratie.
“That’s right, I’m Lieutenant Fullbody from the Navy headquarters, known as ‘Double Iron Fist.’ Even Vice Admiral Garp has praised my strength.”
“I was here enjoying a meal with my companion, but you want to burn this ship down? How audacious!”
“If you don’t want your pirate crew to be annihilated, you should leave while I’m still in a good mood.”
Fullbody displayed his knuckle-dusters, trying to appear as though defeating the Liquor Pirates would be a trivial task for him.
In the tense silence that followed, Barbarossa’s response came.
His face darkened, and he spoke coldly, “Are you joking? I’m Barbarossa, the Red-Beard, aiming to enter the Grand Line with my crew!”
“If you’re truly that strong, come and defeat me!”
A Navy lieutenant from the East Blue couldn’t possibly be a match for Barbarossa.
Though a headquarters lieutenant was stronger than those from the East Blue, Barbarossa doubted he could be easily defeated.
The tourists inside, hearing Fullbody’s bold claims, became excited.
If Fullbody could defeat Barbarossa, their crisis would be over!
“Lieutenant Fullbody, defeat that pirate!”
“Beat Barbarossa!”
“Go, Lieutenant!”
The tourists cheered and encouraged him.
Contrary to the tourists’ excitement, Fullbody’s heart sank, and he felt a chill run down his spine.
He couldn’t intimidate Barbarossa!
The people behind him were urging him on, leaving him with no way out.
Damn it!
Fullbody cursed inwardly, regretting coming to the Baratie for a meal only to face Barbarossa’s thousand-strong pirate crew!
Knowing his own strength, Fullbody realized that engaging Barbarossa would reveal his lies and empty boasts.
But with no other option, he had to attack Barbarossa.
Barbarossa, prepare to die!
Fullbody mustered his strength, charging at Barbarossa with his knuckle dusters.
Crossing the fiery barrier, he swung his fists with all his might, hoping to catch Barbarossa off guard and knock him out.
But it was just a fantasy.
Barbarossa, already on guard, used his Devil Fruit’s second distillation form to enhance his body, delivering a powerful punch.
In this state.
Barbarossa’s speed, strength, defense, and recovery were doubled, which was how he withstood Zeff’s weakened Diable Jambe.
There was no clash of fists; Barbarossa’s punch struck Fullbody first.
Spurt!
Fullbody coughed up blood, his body bending in pain as he collapsed to the ground.
“So, this is all you can do? I thought a Navy headquarters lieutenant would be stronger.”
Barbarossa sneered, pressing Fullbody’s face into the platform with his foot, filled with disdain.
“Weren’t you boasting just now?”
“Vice Admiral Garp praised your strength? Why are you so weak? Were you lying?”
Barbarossa mocked Fullbody while continuously attacking the helpless lieutenant.
Hiss!
The tourists watching inside gasped in shock.
They couldn’t believe that the confident Barbarossa so easily defeated Lieutenant Fullbody!
Fullbody’s female companion was in disbelief. Didn’t he say he could defeat pirates with bounties up to 30 million Berries?
Why was this happening?
Were Fullbody’s claims all lies?
Others who had pinned their hopes on Fullbody were equally confused and disheartened.
On the platform.
Fullbody was beaten nearly to death, his body broken, in a dire state.
Barbarossa, tired of the beating, picked up his large sword and raised it high.
“Alright, you Navy headquarters lieutenant, prepare to die!”
In the tourists’ horror and the pirates’ cheers.
Barbarossa’s sword swung down, about to end Fullbody’s life.
Clang!
At that moment, the sound of metal clashing rang out.
Barbarossa looked forward in confusion, seeing a black longsword blocking his attack. The wielder of the weapon was a knight in black armor.
Behind the knight’s visor were a pair of bright blue eyes, making Barbarossa feel a strange sense of caution.
With a casual strike, the black knight pushed Barbarossa back.
“Who are you?”
“Why are you saving him?”
Barbarossa didn’t look at the powerful black knight but instead questioned a young man emerging from the flames.
The sudden change clearly occurred after this young man’s appearance.
“Just a Navy officer on leave.”
“I came to the Baratie to dine with my family, but didn’t expect this trouble.”
Curls walked forward step by step, the fiery barrier retreating under the influence of a dark shadowy power.
Although Fullbody was arrogant and full of flaws, he was still a Navy officer. As a fellow Navy man, Curls couldn’t stand by and watch Barbarossa kill him.
Another Navy officer on leave?
Barbarossa frowned, asking, “What’s your rank?”
Curls crossed the fiery barrier, standing not far from Barbarossa, and replied calmly.
“I don’t have a rank yet.”
