One Piece Space Fruit - Chapter 22
To everyone’s shock, Evan and the Night Emperor truly became masters and disciples in the Infinite Hell.
The other prisoners were dumbfounded, unable to utter a word.
The sequence of events, from the two of them revealing their Conqueror’s Haki and becoming master and disciple, seemed absurd and hard to believe.
Come on, face reality. This is Infinite Hell, the world’s most secure underwater prison. Only the legendary Golden Lion managed to escape in hundreds of years, and he did so by cutting off his own legs and barely surviving.
Learning martial arts? Training? In a place where even food is scarce, and bodies are imprisoned, it all seems pointless.
It’s better to sleep.
However, no one dared to laugh out loud in front of the Night Emperor and Evan. They rolled their eyes and continued with their own affairs as the two seemed to admire each other.
Evan wanted to discuss training with the Night Emperor, but the elder shook his head, placed a finger to his lips, and stopped him.
The next moment, the Night Emperor’s aged voice sounded in Evan’s mind.
“Disciple, from now on, let’s communicate this way.”
Evan looked at the Night Emperor in shock, his mind not quite grasping it.
A Devil Fruit ability? Condensing sound into a line? Or a telepathic conversation?
“Don’t be surprised. It’s just a deep-level usage of Observation Haki,” the Night Emperor explained, seemingly reading his thoughts.
Observation Haki?
Evan vaguely understood, knowing that the Pirate King, Roger, was rumored to have the ability to hear the voice of all things.
“I’ve connected a mental line between us using Observation Haki, allowing us to communicate with our thoughts. Though I can’t fully read your mind, I can understand most of it,” the Night Emperor explained.
Evan’s expression turned odd. This method indeed made communication much easier in Infinite Hell. However, he quickly realized that his thoughts would be exposed to an old man.
“Cough, cough. Once you master Observation Haki, you can block or shield high-level Observation Haki probes,” the Night Emperor reassured him.
Evan breathed a sigh of relief, grateful that his private thoughts wouldn’t be intruded upon.
“Disciple, what are you thinking…” The Night Emperor’s forehead was dotted with cold sweat.
“Master, how do you plan to teach?” Evan asked, curious.
“Humph! After being defeated by that person, I was imprisoned in Infinite Hell for forty years, with my limbs broken.”
“For forty years, if I had spent time figuring out a way to escape, how could this mere Infinite Hell contain me!”
The Night Emperor’s voice rang in Evan’s mind, sharp with sword energy.
“Disciple, you will come to understand that Infinite Hell cannot trap a true strong man.”
Even though he had a rough idea, Evan remained silent, unsure of the highest level of power in this world.
True strong men, like Kaido, said to have the strongest body, cannot die no matter what.
Or Whitebeard, whose Tremor-Tremor Fruit could destroy the world, represented an era alone.
“Master, please teach me!”
Evan yearned for power, having been pushed to the brink, understanding its importance.
Without power, one could only be at the mercy of others!
“Of course,” the Night Emperor smiled.
“The most important thing now is to leave this place…”
“Leave that to me,” Evan said confidently, “I have a way to escape!”
As his body healed, Evan grew more confident in his ability to escape Infinite Hell, especially after killing the former Vice Admiral.
“Step, step, step…”
Familiar footsteps echoed as Evan and the Night Emperor broke their mental connection. Evan quickly walked to the side of the bearded man’s bloody body, retrieved something from the Marine coat, and quietly returned to the corner to lie down.
The food deliverer placed the meal inside the iron gate, glanced around the cell, and paused briefly at the sight of the bearded man’s corpse before quickly leaving.
Soon, a team of Marines entered Infinite Hell.
The iron gate of Evan’s cell creaked open.
Several Marines cautiously inspected the cell. Seeing the gruesomely dead bearded man and Evan huddled in the corner, they looked at him like he was a sea monster, swallowing nervously and appearing anxious.
A few Marines unchained the bearded man’s limbs and carried his body out of Infinite Hell, swiftly cleaning the bloodstains in the cell.
Throughout the process, Evan remained motionless, seemingly asleep, showing no threat. The lead Marine watched him warily, with half the Marines pointing their guns at him, ready for any sudden move.
Living with a king is like living with a tiger!
The prisoners on the sixth floor are extremely dangerous, and they can’t afford to be careless.
Evan sensed that any hint of threat from him would lead the Marines to open fire and kill him on the spot!
Evan cooperated by pretending to sleep, avoiding provoking their strained nerves.
After cleaning up, the Marines locked the cell gate and hurriedly left.
Only when Infinite Hell returned to silence did Evan slowly rise, eating two portions of the meal and using the water to clean the blood from his arm.
“Disciple, what’s your method for leaving Infinite Hell?” the Night Emperor’s mental voice came through, puzzled.
“Did you forget? I’m a Devil Fruit user!” Evan pointed to the Seastone shackles on his feet.
“Do you plan to cut off your legs like the Golden Lion?” the Night Emperor was surprised, “That’s unnecessary, you can wait for me to…”
Evan smiled without a word. Though weaker than the Golden Lion, he had an ability others couldn’t imagine.
“Master, cutting off your feet to escape shackles is the dumbest way!”
Evan took out an item from his coat, the military rank insignia he had taken earlier.
He straightened the insignia into a wire and inserted it into the lock of the shackles.
“Could it be…” the Night Emperor watched in astonishment. With a few gentle turns, the Seastone shackles clicked open.
The shackles that imprisoned countless powerful prisoners were thus unlocked.
“Ah, my skills have gotten rusty. This old lock used to take less than ten seconds,” Evan remarked nonchalantly, removing the Seastone shackles and standing up freely, the long-lost sensation of controlling space returning.
“Disciple, you’re going to put the Golden Lion to shame…” Even the Night Emperor was speechless. He had never seen anyone unlock a shackle with a piece of wire in his decades at sea.
The first layer of Infinite Hell’s shackle, restricting prisoners’ strength, was thus undone.
So simple, so incredible.
“After I leave, I should charge for this skill. One billion Beli per lesson on unlocking Marine shackles.”
Evan stood up, stretching, pleased with his idea.
The Night Emperor was speechless. Since Evan had revealed his Conqueror’s Haki, the old man couldn’t fathom how many secrets his disciple held.
“Great, the shackles are off. Master, are you ready?”
Evan had gained his freedom without alerting the other prisoners.
“Ready for what?” the Night Emperor was confused, feeling out of sync with Evan’s pace.
“Of course, to escape!”
Evan smiled, raising his left hand.
The long-lost spatial ability is quickly condensed and released.
“ROOM!”
A circular space expanded, enveloping Infinite Hell.
“Hmm?” Evan frowned slightly. He sensed the space couldn’t fully cover Infinite Hell’s walls, likely due to Seastone in the structure, distorting his spatial ability.
But it was enough to locate Infinite Hell’s exit and the surveillance snails watching each passage.
“Everything is going smoothly.”
Evan’s figure vanished from his cell, reappearing in the Night Emperor’s cell.
Seeing Evan’s teleportation, the Night Emperor was speechless. This disciple was truly audacious.
Really escaping at the slightest disagreement.
Evan raised his left hand, his spatial cutting ability activated, a milky white light flowing along his arm, forming a sharp edge. He swung his arm at the chains binding the Night Emperor’s limbs.
Clang!
The four chains fell with a crisp sound.
“Master, let’s go!”
Evan placed his arm around the Night Emperor’s shoulder, initiating teleportation. They vanished from the cell as if they had evaporated.
“What’s going on?!”
The other prisoners were startled by the sound of falling chains, their Observation Haki probing in all directions.
But Evan had already teleported away with the Night Emperor, leaving two empty cells behind.
