One Piece Space Fruit - Chapter 25
Impel Down, Fifth Level Freezing Hell.
This level holds pirates with bounties over a hundred million, where prisoners suffer in sub-zero temperatures far colder than a typical freezer, leading to severe frostbite and eventually death.
The most dangerous aspect is the forest filled with ferocious wolves known as the Army Wolves.
Usually, apart from the second level, Beast Hell, other levels don’t house beasts, but the Army Wolves are too terrifyingly powerful. If placed in the second level, they would devour the Sphinx and Basilisk (beasts). So, the Army Wolves were moved to this level.
Snowflakes danced in the air, and the wind was bitterly cold.
As far as the eye could see, everything was ice and snow, with the ground covered in a thick white blanket.
“Thump, thump, thump!”
Several Army Wolves sped across the snow, their strong bodies covered in snow-white fur and their sharp, blood-red eyes scanning for prey. They crossed the snowy slopes in a few leaps, quickly disappearing into the wind and snow.
“My God, it’s freezing here,” Evan said, walking through the snow in thin clothes. His outfit had several holes, allowing the cold wind to penetrate, and his bronze skin was exposed to the sub-zero temperatures.
Evan struggled through the snow, each step met with great resistance. Some areas were knee-deep, making it seem as if the endless white snow would bury him.
Shivering, he felt fortunate. If he had been directly imprisoned in this Freezing Hell while severely injured, he wouldn’t have survived more than a day or two.
Feeling his joints stiffen and his blood flow stagnates in the cold, Evan had come here because he had reached a bottleneck in his ancient martial art, the Diamond Body, wanting to find a way to the second level.
In his previous life, no one had reached the perfect first level of the Diamond Body, so there was no experience from which to draw.
The first level was impervious to weapons, and the second level was resistant to water and fire.
“Does breaking through to the second level really require tempering the body with water and fire?”
Unable to figure it out, this question had led Evan to the Fifth Level Freezing Hell.
Freezing Hell typically had no guards, and due to the extreme cold, there were no surveillance snails either.
Would the extreme cold stimulate the body effectively?
As he swung his arms to move his stiff body, a piercing cold wind carrying snowflakes hit him.
“Damn!”
Evan shivered, curling up.
Despite his years of training, his strong physique seemed useless in this icy environment.
“Hmm, Army Wolves?”
Evan spotted several Army Wolves speeding down a snowy slope, heading his way.
“Good, just in time for some exercise.”
Evan wasn’t afraid. He lifted his feet from the snow and stepped forward to meet them.
The Army Wolves moved swiftly, unaffected by the icy terrain. In a few breaths, they were in front of Evan.
Their red eyes were filled with brutality, and their fangs bared menacingly.
Evan swung his fists, sending two Army Wolves flying. He dodged another wolf’s pounce.
Thud!
The two wolves he hit rolled in the snow, got up, shook off the snow, and looked none the worse for wear.
Their terrifying faces and blood-red eyes were fixed on Evan, full of bloodlust and violence.
“Impressive, not your average beast,” Evan thought admiringly. If they were ordinary beasts, they wouldn’t be able to stand up after being hit by his thousand-pound punches, let alone be uninjured.
He dodged another wolf’s attack from behind, elbowing it away into a snowbank.
Observation Haki, as a close-range combat detection aid, was even more useful than ROOM’s scanning ability.
Snow flew as Evan punched another wolf into the snow, burying it completely.
Howl!
An Army Wolf bit into Evan’s right arm, its powerful jaws unable to penetrate his tough, bronze skin.
“Not enough…”
Evan shook his head, punching the wolf’s head with his left hand. The wolf yelped, letting go and rolling in the snow.
Evan leaped, knee angled, landing his body and leg force on the wolf’s neck.
Crunch! The wolf spat blood, its neck twisted.
“Good strength, but still too weak to be my opponent, only good for numbers.”
Evan shook his head at the three dead wolves.
“Eh!”
He exclaimed, feeling warmth rise from within, driving away the cold.
It was different from the life force provided by the plant tattoo; it was a deeper bodily change.
“Could fighting in this environment refine my body?”
Evan was pleasantly surprised. Knowing the method made the solution easier.
“In Freezing Hell, the only suitable opponents are the Army Wolves.”
Evan gathered the bodies of the three wolves.
“ROOM: Wormhole.”
Activating his spatial ability, a hole the size of a well opened. This new spatial ability allowed him to open a path using a spatial imprint, connecting two locations.
Like opening a portal, it connected two spaces but with distance and time limits.
“Wang Wu, clean up the prey.”
Evan shouted into the hole, threw the three wolf bodies in, and retracted his ability.
“ROOM: Scan.”
He expanded a giant space, the radius growing until it covered most of the snowy forest.
After scanning, he teleported from the snow.
Five or six Army Wolves ran through the snowy forest.
Whoosh!
Evan suddenly appeared before them, startling them into stopping.
Seeing a human, they charged ferociously.
“Do I look that non-threatening?”
Evan shrugged, clenched his fists, and stepped forward.
Thud!
Two wolves flew back, crashing into nearby trees and shaking off snow.
Evan shook the snow from his hair, which was covered by flakes.
The wolves quickly got up, showing no fear, faces fierce, continuing their attack.
Though they couldn’t harm Evan, the wolves were tough to kill. Their vitality made them formidable among beasts, unafraid of death.
“Come on!”
Evan laughed, enjoying a long-overdue fight.
Using Observation Haki to sense his surroundings, he fought the wolves without losing ground.
Two wolves bit into his arms, Evan smashed them together, dazing them, then stomped a wolf into the snow.
“Keep coming!”
Evan felt warmth surging inside, invigorated. Exhaling a hot breath, he continued fighting the remaining wolves.
Though fierce, the wolves couldn’t match Evan’s strength. After a while, he killed them, opening a spatial wormhole to send the bodies to the 5.5 Level as food reserves.
Then, using his spatial scanning ability, he continued searching for more wolves.
Neither the guards nor the prisoners of the fifth level imagined that the ferocious Army Wolves would become someone else’s training partners and prey.
