One Piece Space Fruit - Chapter 39
Shrouded in the dark space, Borsalino vanished from Impel Down, banished into the chaotic spatial rift, uncertain where he would reappear in the world.
“Cough… we did it…”
Evan’s face was pale, drained of all strength. He stumbled and collapsed backward, sprawling on the ground.
From the start, he knew defeating Borsalino was nearly impossible. The only option was to use forced spatial banishment, rendering Borsalino incapable of continuing the fight.
“Borsalino is gone?” Magellan, witnessing the scene, spoke with a chilling tone. “You are too dangerous. You must die here!”
Venom surged from Magellan, driving back Crow and Snow. Purple venom covered the ground, forming a toxic path as he charged toward the fallen Evan.
“Stop!” Crow and Snow shouted, hindered by the venom and unable to assist.
Magellan was almost upon Evan, who lay helplessly on the ground.
Life or death was decided in this moment.
Step!
Night Emperor leaped out, his seemingly frail body moving with dragon-like agility. He kicked Magellan away, venom splattering everywhere, yet blocked by his sword energy.
He landed beside Evan, his black robes fluttering, exuding an aura like a sharpened sword. The overwhelming presence of the world’s greatest swordsman swept across the battlefield.
“Master! You…”
Evan saved but not relieved, looked at Night Emperor with unwillingness in his eyes.
“You’ve done well. Live on,” Night Emperor said with a comforting glance, lifting Evan’s injured body with his left hand and tossing him towards Snow.
Snow caught Evan on her wolf back, her black flames burning gently around him, avoiding his body.
“Snow, Crow, take Evan and leave quickly!”
Night Emperor picked up a sword from the ground. His decrepit body was rejuvenated, his energy gathering like a rising sun, and his presence formidable.
“Master! Come with us!” Evan shouted, struggling but too weak to move.
“Leave! Do you want all my efforts to be in vain?” Night Emperor’s stern voice held unwavering resolve as his remaining strength burned brightly.
His life was nearing its end.
Evan gritted his teeth, patting Snow’s back, his voice hoarse. “Go! Let’s get out of here!”
Snow nodded, black flames under her feet, carrying Evan away.
Crow, reverting to human form, leaped onto Snow’s back and followed.
“You won’t escape!” Magellan snarled, venom surging as a purple dragon lunged at Snow.
“Don’t disturb my disciple!” Night Emperor laughed, “Disciple, today I’ll show you the pinnacle of Black Night Flow as your send-off!”
“Dark Night: Night Radiance!”
Night Emperor leaped, his black robe billowing, his energy and spirit gathered, making him a fearsome figure. Holding his sword, he slashed downward, cleaving the void.
The sword strike was world-shattering, a black slash splitting the sky, turning day into night.
Night Radiance obliterated the venom dragon, the black slash cutting through the air and striking Magellan.
Ssss!
Magellan’s venom-covered body failed to block the attack. His shoulder’s venom and blood splattered, nearly severing his arm.
“Cough…”
Night Emperor landed, coughing violently. The powerful strike had strained his aged body, causing his hand to tremble.
“Roar!”
Magellan, eyes cold, clutched his wounded shoulder, venom surging towards Night Emperor.
Night Emperor, gripping his sword, staggered forward to meet the attack.
“Master!”
Evan, on Snow’s back, cried out. Night Emperor was his most important mentor in these five years.
Snow soared through the mist, obscuring Magellan and Night Emperor from view.
Over the sea, they flew farther, Impel Down fading into a distant silhouette.
“Was it worth staying for those prisoners?” Magellan asked coldly.
“It was the most worthwhile thing I’ve ever done.” Night Emperor laughed, unwavering.
His energy dwindled, but he fought on, delaying Magellan.
A few miles from Impel Down, a large Marine warship sailed towards the prison.
“Report! A monster is spotted in the sky to the left!” a scout reported.
“A sky monster?”
Akainu took the binoculars, spotting a white wolf-like creature flying.
“A beast?”
Akainu dismissed it, then reconsidered, observing closely.
The white wolf’s direction aligned with Impel Down.
Suspicious, Akainu’s eyes turned cold.
“Better safe than sorry!”
He raised his fists, magma gathering.
“Meteor Volcano!”
Akainu launched a barrage of massive magma fists into the sky, resembling a fiery meteor shower.
The powerful magma bombs struck, exploding in the sea, creating huge waves.
Sailors on the ship were speechless, stunned by the display of power.
With the sky clear of the monster, Akainu ordered, “Full speed to Impel Down!”
“Yes!”
The steel warship cut through the waves, nearing the prison.
Akainu leaped from the ship, using Geppo to cross the sea, landing in Impel Down’s plaza.
“Is it over? Why so quiet?”
Unease gripped Akainu as he advanced.
The plaza before him was a ruin, scarred by battle. Deep sword marks, craters from explosions, and broken concrete painted a picture of fierce combat.
“Were the prisoners this strong?”
Akainu was shocked.
Impel Down had powerful guards like Magellan and Shiliew. How could it be in such a state?
He found Magellan kneeling, bleeding from several deep sword wounds.
In front of him lay an old swordsman, covered in venom, barely alive.
“Akainu, you’re here…” Magellan sighed, “But you’re too late.”
“What? Too late? You mean…” Akainu asked urgently.
“Yes, three prisoners have escaped. They fled through the sky.”
Magellan’s eyes were dim.
“What?!”
Akainu was stunned.
Did they escape?
Five years after Shiki’s breakout, three more had escaped!
“How could you let this happen!”
Akainu glared at Magellan, furious.
“It’s my fault. I take full responsibility,” Magellan said.
“You can’t fix this!” Akainu fumed.
Magellan sighed, struggling to his feet, heading back into Impel Down.
Akainu watched, troubled, gazing at the breached gate.
What kind of monster had escaped Impel Down?
