One Piece Space Fruit - Chapter 58
“I’ve heard about Shyarly, the girl whose crystal ball predictions are said to always come true. Her predictions have never been wrong,” Tiger hesitated for a moment.
“Indeed, Shyarly’s prophecies are 100% accurate, verified many times over. That’s why I sent the princes to bring Evan here. This concerns the life and death of Fish-Man Island, and I must handle it with utmost caution!” Neptune said solemnly.
“I see…” Tiger was at a loss for words and looked at Evan.
Evan thought for a moment, then calmly said, “I did visit the Mermaid Cafe yesterday and met the owner, Shyarly. I asked her about her fortune-telling abilities, but she didn’t predict anything for me.”
“She didn’t?” Neptune was half-believing.
“By the way, when did Shyarly become Arlong’s sister?” Tiger asked curiously.
“According to him, they recently acknowledged their relationship. They share the same father but have different mothers,” Neptune explained.
“Hmm? Arlong…” Evan pondered for a moment, then said, “I understand now. That Fish-Man named Arlong has been targeting me lately. Perhaps he’s lying to manipulate the king into dealing with me.”
“That makes sense,” Tiger nodded. Knowing Arlong from Fish-Man Street, he was aware of his arrogant and impulsive nature, acting without much thought.
“Moreover, I can assure you that I have no intention of destroying or even damaging Fish-Man Island, now or in the future,” Evan declared firmly. He had always had clear boundaries about what should and shouldn’t be done and had never had any qualms about his actions.
“This…”
Neptune was uncertain, wanting to believe but fearing the prophecy might come true.
“He’s telling the truth,” said Queen Otohime softly, her voice gentle and melodious.
Evan instinctively looked at her.
Their eyes met.
Evan was momentarily stunned. Otohime’s blue eyes were as clear as the sea, without a trace of impurity.
Her gentle yet dignified tone carried a strong persuasive charm.
“That’s—Observation Haki,” Evan thought, admiring her. It was said that Queen Otohime possessed a natural “Observation Haki,” allowing her to hear people’s inner voices, discern truth from lies, and use this ability in her speeches.
Her level of Observation Haki was almost on par with his mentor, the Night Emperor.
Neptune breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, “Since the Queen has spoken, the prophecy must be false.”
“It’s shameful to have treated the savior of Fish-Man Island this way! I will severely punish that soldier, Arlong!”
“No need.”
Evan was relieved that the misunderstanding was cleared up. While he wasn’t afraid of a confrontation with Fish-Man Island, it was better to avoid unnecessary trouble.
“King, I think it’s time to prepare for the banquet,” Tiger suggested with a smile.
“Ah, yes, of course!” Neptune was momentarily taken aback but then let out his characteristic hearty laugh and stood up to give orders, “Prepare the banquet immediately!”
“Uh?”
Just then, the Fish-Man soldiers who had been knocked out by Evan’s Conqueror’s Haki began to wake up. Confused but following orders, they hurriedly set up the banquet.
At the banquet.
With music and dance from beautiful mermaids swaying their enchanting figures, Evan enjoyed strong drinks with Tiger and Neptune.
Neptune, slightly drunk, swayed and laughed loudly as they drank, completely abandoning his regal image.
“Report!”
A Fish-Man soldier approached and bowed.
“Didn’t I say no official business during the banquet?” Neptune grumbled, waving him away.
“But, Arlong—he’s escaped,” the soldier said anxiously.
“What?” Neptune sobered up instantly, his eyes narrowing. “He’s escaped?”
“Yes, before we could apprehend him, he fled from the palace and is now hiding somewhere on Fish-Man Island,” the soldier reported.
“Then—send men to capture him, and announce his fugitive status on the island. He is to be arrested on sight.”
“Yes!” The soldier saluted and left.
Neptune turned to Evan and said, apologetically, “I’m sorry. That soldier, Arlong, had the audacity to escape. It seems he lacked the courage to face his punishment.”
“I don’t mind,” Evan chuckled, raising his glass and downing the amber liquid. A small fry like Arlong didn’t concern him.
“When we capture Arlong, I will ensure justice is served,” Neptune promised earnestly.
“Let Jinbe handle it. He manages Fish-Man Street and has many eyes and ears there,” Tiger suggested.
“Agreed,” Neptune nodded.
This was a minor incident to them, and the banquet continued in high spirits.
Unnoticed by anyone, one of the guards had lowered his head, hiding his eyes under his hat’s brim, a sinister smile playing on his lips.
The next day.
Evan awoke to find himself in his temporary residence on Fish-Man Street, tucked snugly under a blanket.
The windows were wide open, and the bright golden sunlight streamed into the room, indicating it was already late in the morning.
“Hmm?”
As he got up, he felt a lingering ache from the alcohol, making him chuckle wryly. He hadn’t expected to be outdrunk by two Fish-Men with low-proof alcohol.
“Need more training to build resistance to alcohol,” Evan muttered, rubbing his temples.
He realized his clothes had been changed.
“Hmm?”
It was probably Crow. Though lazy, he had surprisingly taken the time to change Evan’s clothes, making him feel somewhat appreciative.
Descending the stairs, Evan found three unexpected visitors.
“Good morning, Lord Evan!”
The Boa sisters greeted in unison, bowing respectfully as if they had rehearsed it countless times.
“Oh? What brings you here?” Evan asked, surprised.
“Snow had some urgent matters to attend to this morning, so she asked us to take care of you,” Hancock explained.
“Well, that’s very kind of you.”
“It’s our honor,” Hancock replied with a radiant smile. Dressed in a simple long skirt, she looked full of spirit. Her long black hair cascading down her back embodied youthful beauty. After greeting him, she joyfully led her sisters to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
“Snow is busy?”
Evan thought, recalling he had asked her to prepare a ship and supplies two days ago.
The day to leave Fish-Man Island was approaching.
