One Piece Space Fruit - Chapter 61
Evan’s unrestrained stomping caused the floor beneath him to shatter like a spiderweb, all due to his uncontrollable anger.
He despised the Celestial Dragons’ arrogance and loathed the slave traders who bound others for profit. Now, he couldn’t believe that someone from his own kind might engage in such heinous acts.
“Unforgivable!” Evan clenched his crimson fists, his eyes blazing red.
“Evan, calm down,” said Neptune, patting his shoulder. “King Neptune, what you need to do now is immediately lock down Fish-Man Island. Do not let them take the queen away!”
“I understand,” King Neptune said, wiping away his tears. His small eyes narrowed with a dangerous glint.
“Evan, go search the deeper areas of Fish-Man Island, or see if Jinbei has found any clues.”
“And as for me…”
Evan smiled slightly and stretched lazily. After a yawn, his lazy demeanor vanished, replaced by sharp, trustworthy eyes.
“I haven’t been serious in over a week.”
“I’m leaving now.”
As he finished speaking, his figure disappeared from the palace.
“Where is Evan?” King Neptune looked around in confusion.
“He’s probably outside the palace already,” Evan said with a smile.
“He’s gone?”
King Neptune’s eyes widened in disbelief at his sudden departure.
“After all, he’s a man with a bounty of one billion berries. Looks like we chose the right person. With Evan’s help, the queen should be found quickly.”
“Let’s hope so.”
Outside the palace, Evan suddenly appeared mid-air. The maximum range of his ROOM was 500 meters, allowing him to teleport freely. Since leaving Impel Down, he no longer felt any restrictions.
With his spatial abilities, he was always free.
“ROOM: Scan.”
Evan floated on a space cube, scanning the area around Fish-Man Island.
Everything within his ROOM’s range couldn’t escape his perception. The colorful coral reefs, bustling Fish-Man Street, exotic houses, green grass, and every fish-man moving about—all their appearances and information flashed through his mind in an instant.
With increasing mastery of his spatial abilities, Evan used ROOM more adeptly. Nothing could hide from his “eyes,” not even those buried deep underground or using Devil Fruit powers to conceal themselves.
“Hmm?”
After searching fruitlessly, Evan neared Fish-Man Street and suddenly stopped. He wasn’t surprised to find the queen but rather a familiar fish-man—Jinbei, wearing his usual loose robe.
Evan thought for a moment and descended in front of Jinbei.
Jinbei looked up at the sound, frowning slightly. “Why are you here?”
“I’m also looking for Queen Otohime,” Evan replied directly.
“No need. As the leader of Fish-Man Street and a soldier of Ryugu Kingdom, I will rescue the queen. As for Arlong and Hody, I’ll tear them apart,” Jinbei said, his eyebrows furrowed fiercely.
“Oh? You seem to have a grudge against me,” Evan said curiously.
“Hmph, I don’t know why Boss Tai believes in you or why he chose to join your organization. But if you ever harm him…” Jinbei’s tone turned serious, baring his fangs, “I’ll tear pieces off you, even if it costs me my life.”
After his threatening words, Jinbei turned and left, his robe conspicuously singed in one spot.
“Let’s see who finds the queen first,” Evan said, smiling. Jinbei paused briefly before walking away without looking back.
“Why do I find Jinbei somewhat likable?” Evan shrugged, about to resume his search, when a snow-like figure approached.
“Leader,” Snow called out, hurrying over.
“What are you doing here?” Evan asked, surprised.
Snow pointed to Jinbei’s retreating figure, and Evan understood.
“You fought?”
“We just crossed paths and had a brief exchange. He didn’t go all out, and I only used my black flame ability.”
“How was it?”
“In a direct fight, I would likely lose. But in a life-and-death struggle, I would prevail,” Snow said softly, her silver eyes as cold as ice.
“Fish-Man Karate is not to be underestimated, especially on his home turf. Your confidence is impressive.”
Impressive indeed, as Jinbei would later become one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.
Evan gently stroked Snow’s long hair and smiled. “But that fish-man, Jinbei, isn’t our enemy. He might even join our ‘Dawn’ organization one day.”
Snow nodded, accepting his words without question, leaning into his touch like a cat, her silver hair falling softly.
“Let’s go.”
Evan patted Snow’s head. She transformed into her Hell Wolf form, enveloped in black flames. Her slender body became a menacing wolf with sharp eyes and shining white fur.
Evan sat on Snow’s broad back, untouched by the flames.
“Search the areas around Fish-Man Street for the queen’s whereabouts.”
Snow obeyed, walking on air as they searched. Yet, they found nothing, and Evan sat cross-legged on her back, frowning deeply.
For the entire Fish-Man Kingdom, a 500-meter ROOM was insufficient—too inefficient. Even with the king sealing the kingdom’s exits, the situation would worsen if Arlong and Hody found a way out.
“Seems I’ll have to try that,” Evan muttered, having Snow hover in mid-air.
He closed his eyes, focusing intensely. His spatial ability surged, and dark patterns appeared on his arms, spiraling and awakening a profound power—his awakened state.
“I can’t maintain this for long.”
Evan opened his eyes, now glowing like the sun.
“ROOM: Maximum Scan!”
His ROOM expanded, breaking the 500-meter limit, reaching 3,000 meters.
His perception covered all of Fish-Man Street and its surroundings. The flood of information nearly overwhelmed him, but still no sign of the queen.
“Still not enough,” Evan gritted his teeth.
