One Piece Space Fruit - Chapter 8
Night fell, and the stars dotted the sky.
A quaint and elegant villa stood brightly lit in a dense forest beside the central district.
Inside the villa’s living room.
Nivea lounged lazily in a chair, her shirt unbuttoned a few places, revealing a stretch of fair skin from her neck to her chest, glowing under the bright lights.
On the luxurious sofa opposite her sat a burly man in a suit. His tall, rugged frame, strong muscles, and resolute gaze gave an overwhelming sense of power.
“Who would have thought they’d send you, this big oaf, to assist me,” Nivea glanced at him lazily.
“Watch your words. It’s not assisting but mutual cooperation,” the man’s steady voice echoed in the hall.
“Ha, I’m the one planning all the actions,” Nivea retorted.
“If your plans or actions don’t meet government standards, I can object.”
“Stubborn fool!”
Nivea shot him a dissatisfied look. Despite Taigu’s higher ranking in CP9, his rigid and slow-witted nature annoyed her.
“Isn’t taking over this villa so blatantly a bit too revealing?” Taigu scanned the surroundings doubtfully.
“No worries, this forest is rarely visited, and the villa’s owner is just an old scholar who hardly goes out. His meals are handled by a young maid.”
“I killed them both and disguised myself as the maid, so no one will notice this place soon. These scholars are unparalleled in knowledge but lack common sense.”
Nivea was somewhat proud. With her top-notch infiltration skills, this was too easy.
Next, they just needed to infiltrate the “Tree of Knowledge” and gather the necessary information.
“Ring, ring…”
Suddenly, the villa’s doorbell rang unexpectedly.
Nivea’s expression froze.
A moment ago, she was boasting about no one noticing, and now this?
“The old man’s relatives or friends?” Nivea glanced at Taigu questioningly.
Taigu stood up calmly and walked to the door.
They couldn’t risk their identities being exposed. Since someone had come, they had to eliminate the witness.
Taigu yanked open the door.
Standing outside was a boy in his early teens with sharp eyebrows and bright eyes. He wore black clothes, seemingly having traveled at night.
What caught the eye was the long sword slung across his back, taller than he was.
“Who are you?” Taigu’s thick black eyebrows furrowed.
The boy was strangely eerie.
“Me? Hmm… the one here to kill you!”
Evan grinned and struck without warning, his right hand moving swiftly.
Taigu, unprepared, was hit by Evan’s punch and flew backward into the villa.
Evan didn’t pursue but walked into the villa slowly, closing the door behind him.
Nivea’s expression changed upon seeing Evan in the villa. She immediately recognized him as the boy who had accidentally bumped into her on the street that afternoon.
Those starry eyes were unforgettable.
Her concern was that this boy had just knocked Taigu back with one punch.
“Taigu, this boy is no ordinary kid.”
Taigu stood up from the shattered table, his suit a bit tattered but otherwise unharmed.
No wonder he was CP9, the elite spies trained by the government. They were at least as strong as top-level captains.
Evan sighed inwardly.
The power hierarchy in the pirate world was very chaotic.
Broadly, it could be divided into cannon fodder level (below captain, considered ants), captain level, vice admiral level, Warlord level, admiral level, and Yonko level. The hierarchy wasn’t absolute; top vice admirals could rival Warlords, and top Warlords could match admirals.
The CP9, with their mastery of the Six Powers and some possessing Zoan-type Devil Fruits, were definitely at the top captain level, with some even reaching the vice admiral level.
“Taigu, let’s attack together!” Nivea said coldly.
They needed to resolve this unexpected situation quickly, or the mission would fail or be compromised. If that happened, the government’s retaliation would be deadly.
“You support, I’ll lead the attack!” Taigu stepped forward.
“Soru.” Taigu’s tall figure blurred from sight, moving too fast for the eye to follow.
“So fast!”
Evan’s eyes narrowed. It was incredible that Taigu’s bear-like body could accelerate at such a speed.
“Shigan.” Taigu’s fingers shot out like bullets towards Evan.
Evan didn’t dodge, his right hand forming a claw as he reached for the Shigan. He wanted to test this world’s martial arts against his own.
Ancient martial art—Eagle Claw vs. Marine Six Powers—Shigan!
In an instant, Taigu and Evan’s fingers clashed!
Their fingers collided, producing a metallic clanging sound, neither giving way.
Taigu’s eyes widened, shocked that his opponent had martial arts rivaling the Marine Six Powers.
“Shigan!” Nivea suddenly appeared at their side, striking at Evan’s chest with her fingers.
Evan couldn’t dodge and took her Shigan head-on!
A smile curled at Nivea’s lips, but it vanished when she realized her Shigan, which could pierce rock, didn’t penetrate Evan’s chest.
His chest was harder than stone and metal!
Evan swept his left leg, kicking Nivea in the face and sending her crashing into the wall, creating a hole.
“Hey, I’m not like Sanji, who holds back against women.”
Evan smiled slightly. His upper clothes were torn, revealing bronzed skin with only shallow white marks.
A year of training had brought his ancient martial art to the first level of mastery!
A near-perfect body, impervious to blades and bullets, was no exaggeration.
“Rankyaku!” Taigu suddenly kicked upwards, sending a bright, vacuum blade of air towards Evan.
Danger!
Evan dodged sideways, leaping back to avoid the deadly attack.
The vacuum blade continued its path, slicing through the wall and splitting the entire villa in half!
This high-speed leg technique was terrifying.
Evan retreated, avoiding Taigu’s range, but another Rankyaku came at him, the sound sharp as a bird’s cry.
He couldn’t dodge in mid-air, so he drew his long sword.
The unsheathed sword glowed with a milky white light.
“Dimensional Slash!” Evan swung horizontally, sending a crescent blade to meet the Rankyaku.
The blades clashed, the air ripping apart. The Rankyaku shattered, but the crescent blade continued towards Nivea.
Nivea’s eyes widened in disbelief, unable to fathom how her Rankyaku had been broken.
“Soru!” Taigu kicked off, his huge frame moving at terrifying speed, knocking Nivea aside and crossing his arms in defense.
“Tekkai!”
His muscles bulged, skin turning iron-hard.
The crescent blade hit his arms, silently disappearing, leaving a bloody gash.
Blood dripped to the floor. Nivea stared at Taigu’s wound, horrified.
Even after breaking through the Rankyaku, the crescent blade was powerful enough to injure Taigu, who used Tekkai.
“Don’t be deceived by his appearance. He’s incredibly strong!” Taigu warned, looking at Evan.
He had a strong feeling that he might have lost an arm without Nivea’s Rankyaku to weaken the attack!
“Use that! Give it everything!” Nivea stood, her expression serious.
“Understood.” Taigu nodded solemnly.
Evan, watching, shrugged. “Finally showing your true power?”
“As elite agents of the World Government, if this is all you’ve got, I’m quite bored.”
Hearing Evan’s mocking words, Taigu and Nivea turned pale.
It was bad enough that he was strong, but he also knew their identities!
“Who exactly are you?” Nivea demanded.
“I told you, I’m the one who came to kill you!”
Evan smiled, pointing his sword at them.
“Knowing our identities, we can’t let you leave here alive. You won’t leave this villa tonight!” Taigu’s voice boomed like a great bell.
He spread his arms, his muscles bulging, his large body expanding, tearing his clothes. White fur rapidly covered his body, transforming him into a fearsome bear.
Finally, Taigu stood as a giant white bear, three meters tall, bare-chested, exuding strength.
“Allow me to formally introduce myself, Taigu, CP9 member, White Bear Devil Fruit user!” Bear-form Taigu grinned.
Nivea also smiled evilly. Her body and face began to change, a black tail sprouting, black fur covering her, claws growing sharp.
She didn’t grow much larger but transformed into a sleek black cat, her tail swaying.
“I’m Nivea, CP9 member, Black Cat Devil Fruit user!”
Nivea’s cat eyes glowed coldly as she stared at Evan.
A black and a white animal-type Devil Fruit user?
Interesting.
Evan smiled slightly, “I usually don’t tell my name to those about to die.”
“But since you’re the first Devil Fruit users I’ve faced, I’ll tell you.”
“I, Evan, am a native of this island. As for whether I have a Devil Fruit power? Take a guess!”
