One Piece Swordsman's Heart - Chapter 44
When Ferdinand heard Vir’s laughter, he shivered. He suddenly realized that this wasn’t the time to be intimate with the girl, as a god of death was waiting for him behind.
If he didn’t handle this situation well today, it would be more than just a tragedy for him—it would be a complete catastrophe. He might be fine, but he would only meet the girl again at her grave.
Ferdinand held the girl’s hand and walked up to Vir.
“Little Six, this is my friend Vir. We’ve come to ask your grandfather to forge a sword. Can you help me talk to him? This is really important. Please ask him to help,” Ferdinand said, giving the girl a secretive look.
Little Six seemed troubled after hearing Ferdinand’s words. Seeing Ferdinand’s secretive look, the girl, who was only seventeen or eighteen, didn’t understand what her lover meant.
“Brother Ferdinand, my grandfather already sealed his hammer last month. He won’t forge weapons anymore,” the girl said, looking apologetically at her beloved.
“That’s right, Master has already sealed his hammer. Now, I handle the top orders,” the muscular man said proudly, looking at Ferdinand as if he’d finally beaten him in some aspect.
It seemed they knew each other before and had many grudges, not just in the aspect of being rivals in love.
When Ferdinand heard Little Six say her grandfather had sealed his hammer, he felt very uneasy. As for the muscular man’s words, he didn’t even listen.
“Oh? So, in your family, only your grandfather can forge famous swords?” Vir asked the girl with a gentle smile.
Before the girl could answer, the muscular man interrupted, “That’s right, only my master can forge famous swords here.” He glanced at Vir with a proud look, proud of his master’s skill.
Ferdinand wanted to say something after hearing Vir’s question, but the muscular man answered first.
Vir didn’t say anything more and looked at Ferdinand, indicating that he should handle it. If his way didn’t work, Vir would take over.
Sometimes, mastering an exquisite skill isn’t a good thing without the strength to protect it—it can attract “hungry wolves.” And now, the Iron Clan had attracted a “hungry wolf” named Vir.
Ferdinand whispered a few words to Little Six. At first, she was just curious, but soon her face turned pale.
“Alright, I’ll take you to see my grandfather. But Brother Ferdinand, you have to explain what’s going on. Why did you bring him here?” Little Six’s face turned even paler, her eyes full of blame and pain, as if she had made some decisions.
Vir could see that her gaze was one of selfless love. Don’t ask how he knew; the little girl was looking at him with a look that suggested she wanted to perish together with him.
This made Vir feel awkward, as if he were the main villain pressuring a pair of young lovers. The girl was ready to sacrifice everything to take him down, which felt incredibly melodramatic.
Thinking carefully, Vir realized he was indeed playing the villain in this situation.
First, he sought information about the swordsmith from Ferdinand. Then, Ferdinand’s provocation angered him.
Ferdinand had to choose between abandoning his sister or bringing his lover into danger. In the end, Ferdinand chose to protect his sister and led Vir to his lover’s family.
There was still a good chance of resolving the crisis here. Even if they couldn’t forge the sword, he had tried his best. Based on his understanding of Vir, Ferdinand believed he would be spared.
But Ferdinand hadn’t anticipated that the only person capable of forging famous swords here had already sealed his hammer.
Now, Ferdinand could only place all his hope on his lover’s grandfather, hoping the old man would abandon his stubbornness.
The girl led them into the house and knocked on her grandfather’s door, calling out, “Grandfather, it’s me.”
A voice from inside replied, “Come in, my dear granddaughter.”
The door opened, and Vir finally saw the legendary swordsmith, Iron One.
The Iron Clan’s title, Iron One, was reserved for the clan leader who had forged at least a Great Grade Sword.
The old man didn’t have any remarkable aura, was rather thin and not tall, with short white hair and a clean-shaven face, a gentle smile showing no signs of the arrogance or stubbornness Ferdinand had mentioned.
But those who knew this old man knew that, while he lacked the typical arrogance of the Iron Clan, his stubbornness was renowned.
Iron One was holding a cup of tea and playing chess with someone in the room.
Vir recognized the person—a character from the anime, Capone Bege, the Castle-Castle Fruit user.
Vir found the situation increasingly interesting but was also growing impatient.
He pushed Ferdinand aside and approached Iron One directly.
“Are you the craftsman who can forge famous swords? Make two swords for me. Here are the materials.” Vir threw down the large box he’d been carrying.
Since his bounty was recent, Iron One and Capone Bege didn’t recognize Vir.
Iron One remained silent, sensing something unusual from Ferdinand and his granddaughter’s expressions.
But Capone Bege, a well-known pirate and one of the Supernovas, spoke up.
“Kid, can’t you see I’m talking to someone? You have five seconds to disappear, or you’ll die here,” Capone Bege said, glancing sideways at Vir, puffing on his cigar.
Capone Bege had come to buy high-quality steel from Iron One to forge a batch of superior weapons for his subordinates, as his crew’s firepower significantly affected his abilities.
Relying on his high bounty and fame, he’d arranged a meeting with the master craftsman. Just as the deal was about to be finalized, this arrogant interloper appeared, and Capone Bege wouldn’t stand for it. If it weren’t for Iron One’s presence, he would’ve already acted.
“Capone Bege, are you talking to me? Heh, a mere Supernova dares speak to me like that? Never mind, I’ll kill you first and then continue with the old man,” Vir said, activating his “Thunder Mode.”
With his twin swords broken, Vir didn’t draw a sword. Instead, he covered his right leg with Armament Haki, overlaying it with electricity, ready to toy with the Supernova.
