One Piece's Bizzare Adventure - Chapter 42
“What’s your name?”
“Jon.”
“How old are you this year?”
“Almost nineteen.”
“Where are you from?”
“Los Angeles.”
“City boy!”
Zenitsu was slightly stunned and couldn’t help but gulp down.
Thanks to Color of Observation Haki, Jon could tell that this blond kid was having impure thoughts.
He delivered a swift slap.
“Quit the nonsense and lead the way.”
“Oh…”
Zenitsu covered his reddening forehead, obediently responding albeit disappointedly.
The further they walked, the more blooming wisteria flowers they saw.
Jon sniffed lightly.
A faint fragrance rushed into his nostrils.
At this moment, a moderately-sized, tied-up-haired young man approached slowly, expressionless as he stood before everyone.
“If you haven’t spent seven days, leaving the mountain without permission will be considered giving up on the Demon Slayer Corps selection.”
He observed the group, and his gaze was focused on Jon. A barely perceptible furrow forming on his brow.
After a moment of contemplation, the young man took the initiative to speak, “I am Tomioka Giyu, known as the ‘Water Hashira’ of the Demon Slayer Corps. And you are?”
“Jon.”
Jon nodded slightly, openly stating his name.
Jon?
Never heard of him.
Tomioka Giyu wondered.
Ignoring the despondent boys and girls, he extended his hand politely, “Please come with me.”
Despite his icy demeanor, his words were quite polite.
Jon was eager to make contact with the Demon Slayer Corps, so naturally, he wouldn’t refuse.
After taking a few steps, he suddenly remembered something and turned back, “Hey, you guys.”
At his words, the boys and girls immediately stood straight.
“Go home and live a good life.”
Jon waved his hand.
“Goodbye.”
Despite having a thousand words to say, they were at a loss for words for a moment.
The rescued boys and girls felt like there was something that left their throat dry.
In the end, more than ten people bowed deeply to Jon’s disappearing figure.
“May you have good fortune in your future endeavors!”
Watching the whole process, Tomioka Giyu looked pensive as he glanced at the man beside him.
Suddenly, a certain blond ran over, “Jon, wait for me!”
Jon knowingly asked, “Little crybaby, why aren’t you going home like everyone else?”
“If I don’t pass the Demon Slayer Corps selection, my grandfather will kill me!”
Zenitsu, seeing Jon as approachable, tearfully pleaded, “Please, just let me stay with you for a while longer!”
Flattery is the best way to a woman’s heart, and it’s the same for a cute little blond.
Who could say no to a crying, silly kid?
Jon: Me!
“Sorry, I’m not your nanny. I don’t have time to take care of you.” Jon turned to the Water Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, “Giyu, is the headquarters of the Demon Slayer Corps far from here?”
Tomioka Giyu: …
Thought you were a man of compassion.
Didn’t expect I was wrong about you.
Tomioka Giyu shook his head, “Not far.”
“Then let’s hurry!” Jon seemed to deliberately say it to Zenitsu, “So that certain blond won’t catch up.”
“No, don’t leave me!”
Zenitsu fell for the trap, hugging Jon’s thigh.
“Big Brother Jon, please take me with you. Whether it’s washing clothes or folding blankets, I’ll obediently do it!”
Tomioka Giyu may not be good with words, but he was not stupid.
After a moment, he realized.
This guy…
Wasn’t he deliberately setting a trap for this blond kid?
“That’s what you said.” Jon smiled knowingly.
“Just give me your order!”
Zenitsu’s gaze was firm.
Jon looked like a “I can teach this kid” and agreed to Zenitsu’s request.
You wanted to leave after offending me?
It was not that easy.
Go wash my pants!
The journey was silent.
The three passed through the shrine and arrived at a courtyard.
At the entrance to the courtyard, two delicate girls stood quietly.
“Lord Giyu, thank you for your hard work.”
“Thank you.”
Tomioka Giyu nodded in return and said softly, “Is the master awake?”
“The master has been waiting for you and your guests for a long time.”
Upon hearing this, the Water Hashira extended his hand, inviting, “Sir, please follow me.”
“Wait a moment.”
Jon waved his hand and took out two taffies from his personal space, bending down to hand them to the two girls, “It’s hard for you to stay up so late. Here, I’ll give you something delicious.”
With that, he looked at the black-haired girl.
“And also, boys shouldn’t dress as girls. Once it becomes a habit, it’s hard to change.”
The boy dressed as a girl, Kiriya Ubuyashiki, couldn’t help but be stunned.
Tomioka Giyu suppressed his shock and explained in a low voice, “The male members of the master’s family have always been frail and sickly. Raising them as girls makes it less likely for them to die young.”
“Oh, I see.”
Jon scratched his brow.
So there was more to it.
He learned something new.
“J-Jon, you just…”
No, you just took something out of thin air.
Why were you all so calm!
Zenitsu was trembling, unable to speak properly.
“Don’t be so surprised.”
Jon gave Zenitsu a glance and walked into the courtyard with Tomioka Giyu.
The Japanese-style courtyard was nothing special.
After a few turns, the three arrived in front of a large house.
Tomioka Giyu knelt down.
“My lord, the source of the anomaly in the demon aura at Mt. Fujikasane has been found.”
A gentle male voice came from inside the house, “Thank you for your efforts, Giyu.”
Before long, the sliding doors opened wide, and a young man dressed in fine clothes walked out with the help of a servant.
His face was covered in scars, making him look unusually terrifying.
Upon seeing this, Zenitsu instinctively hid behind Jon.
Jon casually bowed.
“I am Jon. I mistakenly entered Mt. Fujikasane and had to slay demons to protect myself. I hope…”
Tomioka Giyu timely introduced, “This is Lord Kagaya Ubuyashiki.”
“I hope you’ll forgive me, Lord Ubuyashiki.”
Kagaya Ubuyashiki covered his mouth and chuckled lightly.
“Judging from your accent, you’re not from Kyoto, are you?”
Before Jon could respond, Zenitsu eagerly answered, “Jon is from Los Angeles!”
I was the one from Los Angeles! Why were you the one answering!
Three black lines appeared on Jon’s forehead, and without hesitation, he gave Zenitsu a slap.
Coughing lightly, Jon explained, “I’m from overseas.”
“Oh?”
Kagaya Ubuyashiki was quite surprised.
After a pause, he continued, “May I ask, how many demons have you slain in Mt. Fujikasane?”
“I didn’t count, but there were probably a hundred or two.”
One or two hundred!
Kagaya Ubuyashiki and Tomioka Giyu were shaken.
With this many demons slain, it made sense that the demon aura at Mt. Fujikasane weakened.
Bold and direct.
Seeing Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s silence, Jon threw out his trump card.
“Giyu, Lord Ubuyashiki, I have been friends with the Demon Slayer Corps for a long time. If you don’t mind, I’m willing to join you and exterminate demons together.”
“Join us?”
Although Kagaya Ubuyashiki couldn’t see, his intuition was exceptionally keen.
“You must have another motive, right?”
Jon didn’t conceal it. “Of course.”
At this, Kagaya Ubuyashiki shook his head gently. “Please forgive me for refusing.”
Jon smiled.
“What if I said I could defeat the Kibutsuji Muzan?”
