One Piece's Bizzare Adventure - Chapter 75
Naples, Procida Island.
A secluded wooden cabin.
Morning, with the sunrise.
Polnareff slowly opened his eyes, staring blankly at the shabby ceiling.
Last night, he had a dream.
He dreamt of many old friends.
The living and the dead…
He said nothing, straining to lift his body with his left arm, inching towards the wheelchair by his bed.
Just as he was about to get something to eat.
Suddenly, a piercing pain shot through his right eye socket!
Polnareff clutched his eye, silently enduring.
Until the pain subsided.
“Phew~”
He exhaled, forcing an incredibly bitter smile.
“No way am I going to be beaten by something like this,” Polnareff muttered to himself, “When we meet again, I won’t let those guys look down on me…”
The cabin was small and barely furnished.
Besides the bed, there was just an old stove and a crude wooden table.
Polnareff wheeled himself to the corner where food was stored, picked up a can, and placed it steadily on the table, summoning his Stand, ‘Silver Chariot.’
“Please, do your thing.” He spoke softly.
‘Silver Chariot’ appeared, its sheen dulled, and gave a barely noticeable nod. It aimed carefully for a moment before managing to slice the lid off the can with its blade.
Polnareff sighed in relief.
Since being grievously injured by Diavolo, he had lost his right eye, right hand, and both legs. Even his mental strength had significantly diminished.
Where once ‘Silver Chariot’ had obeyed him effortlessly, now…
Well, no point dwelling on it.
Power outages, water shortages, a lack of clothing and food.
Polnareff had endured it all.
Looking at the arrow hanging by his bed, he set his mouth in a firm line.
No matter what, he could not let Diavolo get the ‘Requiem Arrow!’
The morning hours were always tedious.
Aside from taking care of basic needs like eating and using the bathroom, Polnareff spent the rest of his time fiddling with a half-broken radio.
He had picked it up at a flea market on the island.
The ‘Passione’ organization was vast, and Naples was full of Diavolo’s ‘eyes.’ With communications controlled, this radio was his only hope of contacting the outside world.
However, Polnareff wasn’t an expert and could only tinker with it haphazardly.
“If I had known, I would have studied more,” he muttered regretfully.
If only someone like Jotaro or Kakyoin were here…
“What am I thinking?” Polnareff chastised himself, punching his head with his calloused left hand.
Never mind Kakyoin. If Jotaro were here, there’d be no need to contact the outside. They’d just storm Diavolo’s place directly.
After all, that guy had defeated vampires!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
At the same time, an unfamiliar voice reached his ears.
“Why knock? Step aside, let a professional handle this.”
An enemy?
Polnareff’s eyes narrowed, his face darkening.
Summoning ‘Silver Chariot,’ he prepared for an attack.
‘Squeak’
Despite being locked, the door inexplicably opened under some strange force.
A black-haired young man entered.
Seeing Polnareff, his face lit up with joy, “Finally, I found you!”
“So what if you found me?” Polnareff sneered, pointing forward, “Silver Chariot, attack!”
Just as ‘Silver Chariot’s’ rapier was about to pierce the man’s forehead, a familiar voice rang out.
“Polnareff, stop!”
Polnareff hesitated, ‘Silver Chariot’s’ attack halting.
Jotaro, dressed in his white coat, strode in. Seeing Polnareff in a wheelchair, missing his legs, his eyes reddened.
“Jotaro!”
Polnareff stared in disbelief.
Then, gritting his teeth, he said, “Nice try, but I’m not falling for this! Silver Chariot, attack!”
“Yare yare daze.” Jotaro adjusted his hat brim, hiding his expression, “You think I’m an imposter?”
As he spoke, ‘Star Platinum’ appeared behind him.
The fierce look on Polnareff’s face faded instantly, replaced by shock, “You really are Jotaro?”
Jotaro nodded.
After a few seconds, he spoke hoarsely, “It’s alright now, I found you.”
“Jotaro…” Polnareff murmured, calling his friend’s name.
Coming to his senses, he laughed heartily, “Ah, how embarrassing, you caught me at my worst.”
Jotaro smirked, trying to sound casual, “Don’t worry about it. I still remember all the embarrassing moments you had back then.”
“Forget about those, you bastard!” Polnareff playfully slapped the armrest of his wheelchair.
At this moment, Joseph, supported by Josuke, entered the cabin.
“Mr. Joestar!” Polnareff exclaimed in surprise.
“Polnareff!”
Seeing his comrade’s condition, every wrinkle on Joseph’s face trembled.
However, the bond between men allowed him to suppress his emotions, deliberately teasing, “OMG, how did you beat me to a wheelchair?”
“Well, you see, a little accident,” Polnareff scratched his head with his remaining left hand.
Jon shook his head, remembering the Polnareff from his world.
When he, Polnareff, and Avdol came to Naples, they had taken down Diavolo and his assassination team.
Yet, he and Avdol were unscathed, while Polnareff was severely injured…
It was like the curse of falling at the Flaming Slope—Italy was Polnareff’s nemesis. Better avoid coming here in the future.
Thinking of this, Jon called out, “Giorno, your turn.”
“Mr. Joestar, I’ve told you many times, my name is Giorno Giovanna.”
Giorno entered the cabin reluctantly, his face dark.
Polnareff looked puzzled, “Jotaro, who are these kids?”
Giorno was thirteen, Josuke sixteen, and Jon eighteen.
To the thirty-four-year-old Polnareff, they were indeed kids.
Jotaro adjusted his hat.
He was about to explain when Jon interrupted with a wave.
“Who I am doesn’t matter. What’s important is fixing your legs, hand, and eye.”
He then looked at Giorno, “Can you use your ‘Gold Experience’ to help?”
Giorno’s expression remained unchanged, “I’m a guide, not a doctor. I have no obligation to heal.”
As if expecting this response, Jon waggled his finger.
“Heal him completely, and I’ll pay you ten million lira.”
Giorno was silent for over ten seconds, then turned his head in a huff.
“Deal.”
