One Punch Man King Engine - Chapter 128
Riiiiing!
A shrill ringing sound echoed from the Monster’s alarm in the center of Z City.
“Emergency notice, emergency notice. A large number of mosquitoes have invaded Z City, determined to be equivalent to a Demon-level disaster. Please do not go outside before emergency status is lifted.”
“We repeat, citizens of Z City, please do not go outside.”
Buzz!
Swarms of mosquitoes rampaged through the streets of Z City. They swarmed every living creature they found, their sharp proboscis stabbing into the skin of their target. Their frenzied attitude left any and all living creatures dry, dead husks.
Kacha!
However, in the end, people were not afraid of death.
A thief broke into a jewelry shop with a crowbar, taking advantage of the fact that the residents were hiding due to the alarm. He took his bag of stolen money and jewelry to the empty streets.
“Haha, nobody was here because of the alarm. This is a god-sent opportunity. What fool would believe that you can be bitten to death by mosquitoes?” The thief looked with satisfaction at the large bag of glittering jewelry on the ground, laughing. “It’s a great harvest today, all thanks to the mosquitoes. I don’t even care if the mosquitoes suck a bit of my blood! Take it as a gift of thanks!”
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
As soon as he finished speaking, an inexplicable black wind blew his hat away, causing him to stagger.
“Wind?” The thief looked at his flying hat in shock and bewilderment.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Before he could realize what was happening, the strange black wind attacked again, coiling around his body. He was horrified to find that this black wind was, in fact, a blood-sucking army composed of thousands of mosquitoes. The mosquitoes immediately stretched out their blood-sucking proboscis and shredded the thief’s body.
One…
Two…
One hundred…
One thousand…
Ten thousand…
…
Countless mosquitoes covered his entire body as if swallowing him.
“Ah, help, help, ah!”
A hoarse cry for help came from within the dark cloud of mosquitoes. Unfortunately, the area was long deserted, the citizens hiding at home. No one could hear his cry for help!
Bang!
After a long while, the mosquito army finally had enough, and they took off again to look for the next prey. The thief had already lost his humanity. His entire body was dehydrated and withered, his blood sucked dry by the mosquito army. He became a horrific mummy.
That thief was not the only one. All across the Z City, emboldened criminals took advantage of the emergency curfew to “harvest” the deserted streets, thinking they could get rich overnight. But before they could even count the money they stole, swarms upon swarms of mosquitoes would descend on them, sucking the blood dry from thieves, robbers, and other criminals wandering the street.
In a sense, the mosquitoes did some good to the public safety in Z City.
Of course, in addition to those opportunistic rats, there was also the righteous Hero on the street.
Bang!
A handsome and cold figure with elegant blond hair and a gleaming mechanical body charged across the asphalt street, his crimson red arms swinging quickly around him. He was Genos, the cyborg that King had previously met.
It seems that Genos was tracking the movement of the mosquito swarm. Strangely, the swarm ignored Genos’ blood—oh, right, he’s a metal cyborg. He didn’t have to worry about the mosquitoes biting him.
“Eh, they’re gathering somewhere?”
Genos suddenly stopped. His cold eyes tracked the dark swarm cloud of mosquitoes. A charming humanoid figure was vaguely visible in the middle of the mosquito storm, amidst thousands of mosquitoes flying in and out.
“Well, ah, ah, ah, oh, ah…”
Indescribable groans came out from the dark swarm cloud.
“Target confirmed!”
Genos stared at the black storm, ignoring the strange cry.
“Uh-huh —”
After a while, the dark cloud of mosquitoes dispersed with a buzzing sound, revealing the graceful figure inside.
The figure was feminine, with a beautiful and charming appearance. Her skin was white, and her figure formed graceful curves. Many parts of her body had been transformed into shapes reminiscent of a mosquito, such as enlarged slender arms ending in thin whips half a meter long. The mosquito compound eyes formed a hat on both sides of her head, with a sharp horn-like proboscis as hard as steel in the middle of her forehead. A large blood sac similar to a mosquito abdomen was attached to her butt, and six pairs of transparent and tough wings on her back allowed her to fly gracefully as if dancing in the air.
All these characteristics suggested that this charming young lady was a non-human being. In other words, she was… a Monster.
“He~y! What are you guys doing? Just this little is not enough!
Go and absorb more fresh ‘juice’ for me.”
The mosquito-shaped feminine Monster ordered the mosquitoes unhappily. Her hands quickly absorbed the blood brought by these ‘subordinates’ to strengthen and evolve her body.
“Target locked!”
A cold voice suddenly entered her ears, causing her heart to skip a beat.
“Burn!”
Boom!
A fiery ball of light streaked crimson across the sky, rushing at her.
“Huh?”
The six pairs of transparent wings on her back quickly flapped. Her graceful figure spun in the air, narrowly avoiding the fireball.
Her pretty face suddenly darkened as she stared viciously at the attacker – Genos!
“I see. I understand now. You ordered a large group of mosquitoes to suck blood and then offer them to you.” Genos glared back at Mosquito Girl, who was floating in the air. He continued coldly, “If you could send signals to manipulate the mosquitoes, it can explain their sudden and unnatural movement. In other words, if you are eliminated, this group of annoying things will naturally disperse.”
A sneer appeared on Mosquito Girl’s delicate face. “Children, fresh food delivery is here.” Her slender and sharp claws pointed to Genos. “Go and suck him dry.”
Whoosh!
The dark cloud of mosquitoes split into smaller swarms at her order, charging straight at Genos. The swarm wrapped around him instantly, plunging their sharp proboscis at his metal body.
Clang! Clang!
Countless sounds of impact echoed one after another.
After a while, with the mosquito swarm still wrapped around him, Genos said calmly:
“Burn!!”
Boom!
A burst of dazzling fire suddenly erupted, and scorching heat waves soared into the sky. The black mosquito swarm that engulfed Genos was swept away in the blink of an eye; almost all of them burned to dust.
