One Punch Man King Engine - Chapter 132
In a secret research institute on the outskirts of City Z….
“Huh? Mosquito Girl was defeated with one punch?”
Dr. Genus tilted his head at the holographic screen in front of him, resting his cheek on his hand. The screen was filled with photos and biological data of the S-class Heroes.
“Forget it. She’s just an experimental subject anyway. It’s a pity that she couldn’t collect King’s blood. I don’t know when I will have another opportunity to study his genes. To do nothing but wait is really depressing.
“No. 28, we used our collaborators’ surveillance system to keep an eye on Mosquito Girl, right? Transmit the data on Mosquito Girl’s battle and death to me. I want to take a closer look at our experimental subjects. We need to have this on record!”
“Yes, sir.”
A man with the exact same appearance as the doctor stood in the shadow, wearing a striped prison uniform with the number “28” on his chest.
Ding!
A data transmission progress bar appeared on the holographic screen. Several photographs of Mosquito Girl’s battle appeared after the bar was full.
The streets filled with lava – the scene of Mosquito Girl splashing blood on the tall buildings – the ruined battlefield – Saitama reaching out and sending Mosquito Girl flying!
Dr. Genus looked at the last photo of Saitama and asked doubtfully, “Eh? This guy… why is he naked? He should at least wear a pair of underwear!”
Number 28 replied calmly, “I’m not sure.”
“Forget it.” Dr. Genus looked at Saitama’s naked body with interest. “He looks like a good sample. I want to use him in the experiment as a substitute for King’s gene. It might be difficult, but I want to study his body.”
He raised his glasses and smiled. “Send a messenger to invite him to our House of Evolution for an experiment—I mean, as a guest. Heh.”
“Understood.” No. 28 nodded and tapped several times on the tablet computer in his hand. It showed the records of the neo-human elites that the House of Evolution had created, such as Carnage Kabuto, Beast King, Armored Gorilla, etc.
He selected a few elite warriors and showed them to Dr. Genus. “Sir, what do you think of them?”
Dr. Genus looked at the elites on the list, “Beast King, Armored Gorilla, Mantis Man, Earth Dragon, Frog-Man, Slug…”
“Slugerous has the ability to remotely track the electrocardiogram of that baldhead. The Earth Dragon has the ability to burrow underground to follow or ambush…” No. 28 went on to explain his rationale.
After pondering for a while, Dr. Genus nodded, “Yup, do it. Find our bald sample as soon as possible and invite him back as a ‘guest.’ I can’t wait to start with him.”
Ding!
Another photo appeared on the holographic screen; it was a photo of King with his video camera.
“Huh? Wait a minute? King?” Spark ignited in Dr. Genus’ eyes when he saw King. “How could he appear on the battlefield?”
“The battle was quite intense. It was unsurprising that someone with King’s strength would sense it and rush to the scene.”
Dr. Genus pointed at the camera in King’s hand and asked, “Then… what is that thing?”
“Camera… Perhaps he intended to record the battle capability of the cyborg and the bald man. As an important and righteous S-class Hero of the Heroes Association, he might consider recommending the two promising talents to the Association. The record of their battle would be a perfect recommendation letter.”
“Is that so? Then we need to hurry up. If the Heroes Association recruits them, things will become troublesome and complicated.”
“Understood.”
…
City A, Heroes Association Headquarters…
“How is the mosquito disaster in City Z?”
Sitch frowned as he waited for Maria’s report. As the Minister of the Association’s Operations Department, he usually didn’t come personally to the combat room. He would hand over the responsibility to his Deputy Minister Jace, Heroes information officer Coleson, and Monster information officer Maria. He would only appear when there were disasters above Demon-level.
The mosquito disaster in City Z had far exceeded common sense. It caused many casualties and a massive loss of property through the livestock deaths. According to the data he received, some of the small villages around City Z would have a very hard time recovering from the livestock deaths.
“A large number of mosquitoes have gathered in the Z City Ghost Town. The reason is unknown.”
Maria stared at the data displayed on the computer and reported to Sitch.
“Can you contact King?”
“Mr. King is already rushing there.”
“Well, I hope King can find the reason for the sudden gathering of the mosquitoes and take the opportunity to get rid of them.”
Waiting was a very difficult thing to bear. As the long-time Minister of Operations Department, Sitch thought had grown used to waiting; be it waiting for an investigation into Monster’s appearance, waiting for Hero to destroy Monster’s combat situation, waiting for the complaints of the citizens, etc.
Today, however, taught him that waiting could still be very much unbearable to him. An incoming call amid all the anxiety made him almost drop the phone.
The only female billionaire of Z City – Jasmine was missing. It is suspected that a bounty criminal kidnapped her.
Jasmine wasn’t only one of the wealthiest people in Z City but also an important director of the Heroes Association. She had invested a large amount of operational and development funds for the Association; it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Jasmine was the lifeblood of the Heroes Association. Without her, all logistics and funding of the Association must be meticulously reallocated for tighter budgets.
Sitch’s face sank, and he shouted at his phone, “Hey, wasn’t it the police’s job to handle missing person case? Why are you reporting it to our Association? The Heroes Association is responsible for eliminating Monsters, and mitigating disasters. Finding people is the duty of the police. Do you think that the Heroes of our Association would be better than the police in solving cases?”
What an idiot. The Heroes are people that fight head-on against Monsters. How would they know how to solve crimes?
…well, it seems that there was a certain Child Emperor that knew a little about solving crimes under the name Mori—I mean, what? Mori who? Anyway, should S-class heroes really be involved in a missing person case? It would be a total misuse of their talents. If the civilians caught the scent of this matter, a torrent of complaints would flood the Association.
Unfortunately, his opinion was not important on this matter. The Association’s board of directors had given him direct order to send Heroes to rescue Jasmine.
The only good news today was that King had resolved the mosquito disaster, likely by using Ultimate Hellfire Wavemotion Cannon to destroy the mosquito swarm!
Yet the eradication of the mosquito swarm in King’s hands did nothing to lift his mood. He still couldn’t decide on one thing—
“Which Hero should I send to rescue the missing person?”
