- Chapter 23 - Bloody Battle with the Navy Captain
“Let me handle this.”
Having gained a significant advantage, Old Cat decided to lend a hand.
Seeing this, Sasuke loosened his grip on the Black Star, originally planning to test his Steel Heart. Since Old Cat wanted to act, observing Cyberpunk world combat techniques was a good chance.
“Hey, you trash, show me what you’ve got.” Tearing off his right sleeve, Old Cat revealed a cool cybernetic arm.
As the gunfire roared, the opposing group finally reacted.
In the world of Titans, only those with Ackerman bloodline could avoid getting shot. But even the small fry dodged the machine gun fire in the One Piece world.
Old Cat grinned, charging at an enemy and gripping his neck with the cybernetic arm: “Quick reflexes, why aren’t you running now?”
Meanwhile, Sasuke drew the Black Star, aiming at the remaining thug. The thug tried to flee, but Sasuke wouldn’t let such a good target escape.
Bang!
With auto-calibration, the bullet hit the thug’s spine. Sasuke fired several more shots, sending the thug to the afterlife.
[Legendary Trait (Steel Heart) activated, Life +1]
“As expected, weaklings don’t drop treasure chests.”
Holstering his weapon, Sasuke glanced at Old Cat, who was still tormenting the thug. There was no need to create such a commotion.
Using a machine gun in town would draw the Navy’s attention, and without a background to rely on, they’d become Navy targets. The Navy had performance metrics to meet, and capturing a few small fry would be easy.
Sasuke’s eyes darkened, and he silently began to flee as Navy whistles sounded from the street.
If they didn’t leave, they’d face a hundred enemies soon.
Although it sounded cool, no Reincarnator had the power for such a feat.
A volley of musket fire would instantly kill even Sasuke with his Steel Heart, let alone others who would die even quicker.
Knowing when to flee was a necessary pirate skill.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A string of bullets hit Sasuke, one fired by a precise Marine.
[You were shot by a matchlock gun, causing 7+1 points of piercing damage.]
“High damage,” Sasuke thought, immediately using his ODM gear. The hooks shot to the rooftops, and he began swinging through the streets.
Ignoring Old Cat’s desperate cries, Sasuke knew this was a faction conflict. The killing brought rewards, and he was already being kind by not shooting Old Cat himself.
Saving someone? Not a chance.
Escaping the pursuit didn’t guarantee safety. Wandering in such a dangerous world easily attracted powerful enemies.
As his perception warned him, a sharp blade flashed before him.
A Marine officer, reeking of alcohol but with sharp eyes, closed the distance in a single leap.
[You were slashed by Navy Captain Morgan, causing 15+3 points of slashing damage.]
Fifteen points of slashing damage, plus 3 points from the fall, combined with the gunshot wound, left Sasuke’s life significantly reduced.
Life: 65/91 (+21)
He hadn’t expected such bad luck, encountering a Marine captain while fleeing.
Recalling the earlier scene, Sasuke realized escape was futile. The officer’s short-range speed was terrifying, and fleeing would only get him slashed again.
He couldn’t run, so he had to fight.
“Well, you’re tough,” Captain Morgan burped, noticing the distant whistles and the man swinging through the buildings. He slashed without hesitation.
Would it be a mistake?
Who would wander between buildings in broad daylight?
He could blame it on the pirates even if it were a mistake.
For the brutal Morgan, this was standard practice.
But he didn’t expect his foe to survive his slash, something no ordinary criminal could manage.
“Looks like today will be fruitful.”
Wielding his sword, Morgan prepared to decapitate his opponent. But as he moved, golden lightning suddenly burst before him.
Three Titans appeared, their emotionless faces striking fear into anyone.
The left one, a 4-meter tall abnormal Titan with a massive head and bulging muscles, Sasuke called it Number One Big Head.
[Abnormal Titan (No. 1), Strength 12, Constitution 8, Agility 10, Spirit 2, Perception 2, Trait: Strong Bones]
The middle one, smaller but still with a huge head and big ears like Miroku, had the most health.
Sasuke called it Number Two Tutti.
[Abnormal Titan (No. 2), Strength 7, Constitution 13, Agility 10, Spirit 2, Perception 4, Trait: Thick Skin]
The right one, moving on all fours with a spiked mouth, Sasuke called Number Three Licker.
[Abnormal Titan (No. 3), Strength 10, Constitution 6, Agility 14, Spirit 2, Perception 5, Trait: Strong Limbs]
Each specialized differently, fitting the silver-tier gear’s summoning skill.
Unfortunately, Morgan’s speed sent him straight into Tutti’s chest.
The piercing damage cut 48 health points from Tutti, plus severe bleeding. Licker would’ve been nearly killed instantly.
But Tutti’s thick skin made the wound insignificant.
Morgan tried to escape, but Tutti hugged him tightly, giving Licker time to chew on his leg.
“What are these monsters?!” Morgan roared, his sword trembling.
Next second, his sword slashed Tutti’s belly, the silver blade flashing wildly, chopping over twenty times in an instant.
The powerful character instantly killed poor Tutti, debuting in a storyline world.
But his death wasn’t in vain, as Black Star’s bullets hit the target easily.
Considering One Piece’s characteristics, three bullets plus Licker’s bites barely reduced a third of Morgan’s health.
Even with a blood-soaked cloak, Morgan retained considerable fighting capability.
Seeing this, Sasuke fired continuously, threatening Morgan’s health.
“Trivial tricks.” Morgan raised his sword, deflecting bullets until the Black Star’s clip emptied without further damage.
As Sasuke reloaded, Morgan glared at Licker, still biting his leg.
“Pitiful creature, I’ll send you to hell.” Holding off Big Head’s elbow strike, Morgan prepared to chop the beast.
Morgan’s strength was terrifying. Otherwise, Big Head wouldn’t have been ineffective.
If the blade hit, Licker’s fragile body would be instantly killed.
At the critical moment, Morgan felt a sharp headache. Before he realized it, Licker bit his crotch.
“Ah!!!” Morgan’s scream was deafening.
[Your Mental Impact caused 10 Spirit damage to Morgan, adding Confusion. For three seconds, accuracy is greatly reduced.]
[Your summon dealt 12+8 critical damage, adding a ten-second Rending Pain state, greatly reducing defense.]
The mental attack cost Sasuke 5 Spirit points, leaving him with only six after using gear skills.
Mental Impact was a basic attack, with damage scaling with attribute and Spirit investment.
Currently, it was more a control tool than a damage dealer.
While Morgan attacked Licker, Sasuke reloaded and resumed shooting.
As Licker was torn apart and Big Head’s neck pierced, Morgan’s health neared a critical level.
One more shot could end it, but Black Star was out of bullets, and his summons were dead.
“Out of tricks?” Morgan sneered, moving despite his injuries, still able to reach Sasuke before reloading.
Facing the bloodthirsty captain, Sasuke didn’t reload but reached for his ODM gear.
Hooks shot out, and the captain couldn’t dodge.
Sharp hooks tore through walls and certainly flesh.
Sasuke pressed the gas button as the hooks shot out, activating the gear skill.
Without support, he slid on the ground, leaving bloody marks.
He could endure; it was unsure if the wounded Morgan could.
