Only I Know the Plot of the Anime World - Chapter 31
A sailor’s mouth gaped open in shock on the warship’s lookout tower.
“Oc… Octopus, it’s a giant sea king octopus!”
Every marine who heard the shout showed a puzzled expression. Why would a sea king suddenly attack the warship?
There had been no previous reports of large creatures living in this area.
“What’s the panic?” In a critical moment, Axe-Hand Morgan appeared, maintaining order with a roar: “Reef the sails, load the cannons, and if it shows its head, blast it to pieces.”
A sea king may be formidable, but it was merely a moving target in front of a large warship.
A few rounds of cannon fire would turn it into the sailors’ lunch.
The marines were confident, not taking the sudden appearance of the sea king seriously. However, the Sound Nest team saw through the ruse.
“Something’s wrong.” The girl instinctively sensed danger. Although her perception hadn’t warned her, she still alerted the team to be cautious.
With the battle imminent, any disturbance could lead to unknown consequences. At least the team was prepared for combat.
The other marines were sceptical so they could fend for themselves.
The girl’s instincts proved accurate; this attack was no accident.
When many life signs appeared within her perception range, she trembled, almost moaning, “Those people… they’re hiding inside the giant octopus.”
That’s how they avoided being detected by the strong. The vibrations were from pirates furiously attacking the ship’s hull.
Why was she so terrified?
The reason was simple: an enemy capable of such tactics was bound to be incredibly difficult to handle.
Not considering the “strategic cunning” factor could spell defeat in this battle. Moreover, had the enemy revealed all their tricks?
While pondering, more changes occurred. The giant octopus stopped ramming the ship and instead wrapped its tentacles tightly around the hull.
Many pirates began climbing along the tentacles’ backs, making it impossible for the marines to attack them.
Worse, cannonballs began traveling along the tentacles and were thrown onto the densely packed deck when they reached the top.
In an instant, the warship’s deck was engulfed in flames. Fortunately, the coating used during construction prevented the fire from quickly spreading to the cabins.
The Marines wanted to counterattack, but the pirates used octopus tentacles for cover. The thick tentacle fat was like rubber, rendering bullets useless.
Unable to hit the enemies on the other side, the Marines could only retaliate when the pirates exposed themselves. This way, no matter how many marines there were, there would be more.
Seeing the dire situation, the girl urgently said, “We must deal with those tentacles, or this battle is lost.”
“Leave it to me.” The gunman, Owl, stepped up, setting up his sniper rifle in a suitable spot. He had the means to ignore defences, making him the best choice against this enemy.
After a brief aim, a muffled shot echoed, and a giant octopus tentacle was severed in the middle.
The pirates fell like dumplings and were caught off guard, but the scattered formation below allowed them to keep fighting the surrounding marines.
Only a few unlucky ones fell into the Marines’ midst, getting hacked to death immediately.
Ten seconds later, another muffled shot rang out, and another tentacle was severed.
This time, the pirates were smarter, jumping off the deck to avoid being surrounded by the enemy.
Even without their greatest advantage, they could still fight the Marines. The numbers advantage was less significant than it initially seemed.
“Do numbers matter?” Captain Kuro leapt onto the deck, clearly targeting the gunman, “The more people, the more worries. And you have to follow some ridiculous justice.”
No sooner had he spoken than he appeared behind his target, the cat claws easily tearing through the gunman’s armour.
“Ugh.” The gunman grunted, instinctively rolling forward in a tactical retreat.
As expected of a boss-level character, Kuro’s speed surpassed Orson’s, and a single strike took out 75% of the gunman’s health.
One-on-one, the gunman could barely last three seconds, but Owl never fought alone.
When he stood up, the gunman found no trace of his enemy, which was unsurprising as Kuro had moved behind him at lightning speed.
This was his signature skill, Silent Step, which was similar to the Six Paths technique, “Shave,” providing unmatched speed.
In East Blue, it was nearly unbeatable.
If the attack landed, the gunman would be dead, but his expression showed no fear.
“Hold on!” A roar came, and Randy, the MT, charged with his tower shield like a train.
Destroying everything in his path, the sheer force made Kuro frown.
Kuro, famed for his cunning, had a typical smart person’s flaw—hesitation at critical moments.
Trusting their intellect over instinct, Kuro jumped back, avoiding Randy’s charge in the split-second decision between attacking or evading.
He could kill the gunman anytime; enduring such a reckless charge was foolish.
But Kuro underestimated Randy’s determination and needed to understand the enemy’s skill mechanism.
Once locked on, Randy’s charge would hit regardless of speed.
Boom!
The tower shield slammed into Kuro while the gunman ignored a proffered bun, raising his sniper rifle to deliver explosive damage.
Seeing the blood bloom on the boss, the reincarnators laughed.
This was the power of teamwork. Even a superior character couldn’t withstand their coordinated attack.
“Owl, how much health did we take off?”
“About a third.”
“Great, two more shots and this fight’s over.”
The plan was solid, but they overlooked a crucial variable—the pirate faction’s reincarnator.
The girl hadn’t acted, focusing on detecting the enemy’s presence. Whatever the attack, she would intercept it immediately.
A pale blue glow appeared in her palm. She concentrated, looking towards the rear dining area.
“Found you!”
Bang!
An armour-piercing bullet aimed at her face but was stopped by a layer of pale blue ice.
The girl frowned slightly, realising the shot was stronger than expected.
“Another gunman?” she thought.
She could create terrifying frost as the team’s mental specialist, thanks to her King of Fighters mission experience.
Against gunmen, she could render their attacks useless.
If they couldn’t break her ice barrier, a gunman was just a moving target.
The fight would soon end with Kuro besieged by Lieutenant Commander Rippa, Orson, Owl, and Randy.
Once they got what they wanted, navy victory didn’t matter.
As she pondered, a figure approached at lightning speed—Paul, wielding the cursed blade.
“One-Sword Style: Quick Slash!”
Paul’s attributes had significantly increased with the famous sword, now at an elite monster level.
?Paul (Swordsman), Strength 12, Constitution 14, Agility 12, Mental 7, Perception 12, Trait: Keen Eye?
Using Keen Eye to target weak points, Paul swiftly shattered the ice, delivering a severe blow to the female reincarnator.
Fang Bo could make Paul follow orders despite not completing his destiny quest.
Zango had lost his mobility to hypnotise the giant octopus, and the other two combatants wouldn’t listen to him, leaving Paul as his only aid.
A surprise attack proved effective, freeing him from the mental specialist’s interference.
Captain Kuro, surrounded by Rippa, Orson, Owl, and Randy, was in a dire situation. Fang Bo had to help quickly.
Just aiding Kuro in eliminating one enemy would shift the balance, allowing Kuro’s explosive power to instil fear.
Fang Bo’s priority was to eliminate the gunman. Without the sniper threat, defeating the rest was a matter of time.
“Hey, don’t ignore me,” a sad voice interrupted, making Fang Bo widen his eyes. He hadn’t sensed anyone else.
This meant the opponent had a higher perception or a stealth ability.
Spotting the boy, Fang Bo initiated an info scan.
?No. 14580, Strength 6, Constitution 8, Agility 6, Mental ***, Perception ***, Trait: ***?
“This garbage gear can’t even scan traits.”
The info could have been more useful, wasting precious mental energy. Frustrated, Fang Bo resolved to repair the equipment in the pirate world despite potential changes.
Seeing the boy form an energy ball, Fang Bo sighed, knowing he couldn’t avoid injury.
Golden lightning flashed, summoning three odd giants around the boy.
It seemed they would tear him apart the next second.
