Only I Know the Plot of the Anime World - Chapter 63
An almost imperceptible threat constantly lingered around them, yet the entire mansion revealed no trace of the enemy.
Recalling the mission’s prompt, Fang Bo began a more focused search and finally discovered a clue in the dried-up well in the courtyard.
Looking at the scattered soil around it, they realized the problem must lie below. The spiders’ ability to roam the town freely was likely due to the underground passageways.
Staring into the abyss below, Fang Bo was about to send his giants down to explore, but his new teammate impatiently pulled out an oil lamp.
“Let’s hurry; if we’re late, it might be too late.” With that, he leaped down without considering the possibility of traps below.
In reality, a mission assigned by the space wouldn’t involve a situation where the hostage was eaten the next second. There would be enough time if they didn’t delay too much. The real challenge was how to rescue the hostages from the demon spiders.
Such a simple truth should be easily discernible, yet Ali couldn’t maintain essential calmness.
His reckless behavior wasn’t motivated by a few hundred plot points but by genuine concern for the hostage’s safety.
A perfectly normal thought but quite strange for a reincarnator.
“His sense of justice is a bit excessive.” Fang Bo frowned, recalling their first meeting.
Ali had killed the enemy with a coin attack, and the corpse had dropped a treasure chest. Yet, this guy didn’t even bother to pick it up in his rush to save someone.
A kind heart isn’t evil; it’s better than those who backstab. However, excessive saintliness can be a problem.
“Let’s observe a bit more.” Hearing the calls from the well, Fang Bo jumped down as well.
If Ali was a bleeding-heart saint, they could part ways after the mission. Keeping him around would be like having a ticking time bomb.
Walking on the damp soil, Fang Bo followed Ali, the stench in the air making him cover his mouth.
The well’s bottom revealed a hidden world beyond simple passageways. It looked like a fortress constructed over many years.
“The tunnels are very deep, indicating that the creatures from Spider Mountain visit here often.”
Such a vast space naturally wouldn’t house just one demon spider. Soon, an enemy blocked their path.
“Humans?!” The demon spider was astonished, like a crab jumping into boiling water.
Licking its claws, the demon spider excitedly pounced on them.
“I’ll handle this.” Without hesitation, Ali pulled out a kitchen knife and charged.
Fang Bo’s keen perception noted the unique aura around the knife, indicating it was no ordinary tool.
“You should be the one to die, monster.” Dodging an attack, Ali swung back, severing two of the spider’s legs.
Before the enemy hit the ground, a blue energy enveloped Ali.
With a whip-like kick, he smashed the demon spider into the stone wall, followed by a flurry of strikes, each causing significant damage.
Ali beat the seemingly powerful underground demon spider to death without using any particular means.
Watching the knife’s blue glow, Fang Bo felt the ability was familiar, like something from his memories.
Though he needed to see more, he was sure he would uncover Ali’s ability soon.
Perhaps sensing Fang Bo’s scrutiny, Ali hesitated briefly before explaining his ability.
“Most of my abilities come from the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. You can consider me a seasoned sorcerer.” He was very straightforward.
Hearing this, Fang Bo finally recognized the power—cursed energy.
However, reincarnators usually use mental energy to simulate these powers. It was his first time seeing someone use cursed energy directly.
Ali explained further.
“Mental energy can simulate any form of energy. With practice, you can recreate the unique systems of various worlds.”
“What’s the benefit?” Fang Bo was curious.
He understood Ali’s point about simulating cursed energy. One could also simulate chakra, nen, qi, or spiritual power if desired.
While it looked cool, Fang Bo doubted there was a significant practical difference and found the practice odd.
“It’s just a habit.” Ali didn’t elaborate, signaling he was done with the topic.
Ali’s attacks were naturally more effective against evil entities as a sorcerer.
In other words, he had an additional damage bonus against demon spiders.
His kitchen knife wasn’t an ordinary weapon but a cursed tool with special effects. The demon spider’s pain made it clear it was effective against evil.
Seeing Ali didn’t want to talk further, Fang Bo tactfully didn’t press.
A temporary teammate’s background didn’t matter; their cooperation mattered. From now on, it seemed unlikely they’d work well together.
Listening to distant noises, Fang Bo raised his arm, aiming his Dragoon at a cave corner. “Our presence won’t stay hidden for long. I’ll join the fight next.”
An armor-piercing bullet whistled through the air as he finished speaking, hitting the demon spider’s neck.
[Your armor-piercing bullet deals 24+36 critical damage to the enemy]
Fang Bo could shoot freely without worrying about reloading with a teammate by his side.
Although neck attacks had damage bonuses, the Dragoon’s damage was insufficient for a one-shot kill.
It wasn’t a high-output weapon but one that added extra status effects, meant to be used with other abilities.
Like now, Ali rushed in with his knife, severing the struggling demon spider’s neck.
Ignoring personality issues, their cooperation was practical. As a melee attacker, Ali knew when to give space for ranged attacks.
Such awareness came from extensive practice, indicating Ali was used to teamwork.
Why he was acting alone now wasn’t Fang Bo’s concern.
“Maybe his excessive saintliness got him kicked out,” Fang Bo thought maliciously.
His idle thoughts showed their good condition. Ali’s rich combat experience allowed him to handle sudden situations well.
His performance made their progress smooth, quickly reaching a sizeable underground cave.
The captured Demon Slayer was wrapped in spider silk, swinging desperately in the air.
“Don’t be afraid; I’ll save you.” Ali gripped his knife, seeking a rescue route.
Saving him was simple. Fang Bo could quickly shoot the silk with his accuracy. But the many crawling spiders below needed dealing with first.
“Sorry,” Ali said quietly. “I’m not good at group fights. Do you have a plan?”
He’s not good at it, yet he charged in so aggressively?
Before Fang Bo could reply, things worsened.
[You are affected by poison, losing one health every 3 seconds]
When he entered the cave, he noticed a stinging stench, assuming it was from rotting corpses. However, it turned out to be poisonous.
Even if they did nothing, they’d lose 20 health every minute.
“Damn it.” Fang Bo knew he couldn’t hold back anymore.
With a thought, a summoning circle appeared. He was curious about the shikigami’s actual combat power.
Shikigami Summon: Jorogumo!
In Ali’s shocked gaze, a giant spider monster emerged.
“You’re a summoner?!”
Ignoring his surprise, Fang Bo ordered the shikigami to use its most substantial move.
A terrifying mental force gathered, and seven energy-formed tiny spiders charged at the enemies.
[Jorogumo’s skill, Soul Eater, hits, causing 38 corrosion damage]
[Skill effect activates, stunning the target for 5 seconds]
Seven demon spiders froze. Fang Bo seized the chance, firing at one.
Ali, snapping out of it, charged another, tossing coins to assist his partner.
When the spiders broke free, only five remained.
“Damn, what are you?!” The demon spiders couldn’t understand Jorogumo.
Ignoring them, Fang Bo’s shikigami started slicing with its legs, injecting a cell-growth-inhibiting poison into the spiders.
