Reborn in Konoha as the Anbu Torturer - Chapter 689
Because of the revelations by Orochimaru and Danzo, these scandals have spread widely. The entire ninja world is aware of what happened in Konoha. Kirigakure believes they have obtained more information, and their guesses are closest to the truth. They understand that a hidden hand controls everything in Konoha and have decided that this hand belongs to Minato Namikaze, who they believe will become the new Hokage.
Iwagakure thinks this shows the Third Hokage’s spirit of sacrifice. To them, the Third Hokage’s decision to step down and pass the torch to Minato Namikaze while using this method to mislead the ninja world is a strategic move. It creates the illusion of chaos in Konoha while ensuring a smooth transition of power and gaining more respect for Minato from the people.
Sunagakure, on the other hand, considers the whole situation laughable, not even deeming it worthy of a meeting. They find the situation simple but need to fully understand the specifics, choosing to observe the political changes silently. As for the other ninjas’ thoughts are straightforward, treating the situation as mere entertainment. To them, it’s surprising that even a powerful village like Konoha has such scandals, with its leaders going to any lengths to protect their interests.
Recently, the events in Konoha have created a whirlwind that has swept through every corner of the ninja world, sparking discussions among all ninjas.
A tall figure approached the entrance of an inn in the Land of Iron. He pushed the wooden door open, and the noisy atmosphere inside hit him immediately. With long silver hair, this man wore a unique ninja headband marked with the kanji “oil” instead of a village symbol. Despite it still being afternoon, the bar was filled with patrons drinking and chatting, their faces flushed from the alcohol, discussing the recent events in Konoha.
“Have you heard about what’s happening in Konoha lately?”
“Yeah, I heard. It’s hilarious.”
“The Third Hokage’s disciple, Orochimaru, openly confessed to various crimes in front of the entire village.”
“Not just him, but also Danzo Shimura, that man who lurks in the shadows.”
“This has become a massive scandal for Konoha.”
“I heard the Third Hokage has resigned out of guilt.”
“I wonder who the new Hokage will be?”
“Who cares? Konoha has become a laughing stock.”
“Yeah, all we can do is laugh at them. This is unprecedented.”
Voices continued to rise in discussion, making the bar even more chaotic. Everyone present revelled in mocking Konoha’s plight. For them, the situation in Konoha was a source of endless ridicule. The silver-haired man sat down quietly, his expression neither happy nor sad, seemingly unaffected by the conversation. However, the tears at the corners of his eyes hinted at his emotional turmoil. This man was Jiraiya, one of Konoha’s legendary Sannin.
“I didn’t expect such significant changes in Konoha,” Jiraiya muttered. He was preparing to return to Konoha, not because of these recent events, which he had just learned about, but because of a magical book he had found. The book, “White Teacher of the Ninja Academy,” still lay in his ninja tool bag, having been read countless times. After some investigation, he discovered the book’s author was from Konoha, prompting his return.
“One cup of shochu,” Jiraiya called out to the bartender, calmly sitting down and waiting for his drink. He realised he didn’t need to question these people; simply listening would suffice.
The patrons continued their animated discussion, focusing solely on Konoha’s scandals without any other topic in mind. Although their talk might be exaggerated or distorted through repeated retellings, much was based on actual events.
“One cup of shochu,” Jiraiya called out again, settling in to gather more information about the situation in Konoha.
Meanwhile, in another part of the Land of Iron, Tsunade sat in a gambling den, engrossed in a dice game. Hearing about the Third Hokage’s resignation, a hint of confusion crossed her face. She didn’t fully grasp the situation but was deeply invested in the outcome of the game before her. Before leaving Konoha, she had hoped for change, especially in its political structure, but had not anticipated such turmoil.
Upon hearing of the Third Hokage’s resignation, Tsunade felt a complex mix of emotions. Unlike the period when the Third Hokage was killed in history, she hadn’t been away from Konoha for long. Her feelings towards the village were still fresh, and any mention of it stirred deep concerns.
“Do you know anything else?” Tsunade asked the gamblers, eager for more details about Konoha. Despite her disappointment and recent departure, she still cared deeply for the village.
The gamblers exchanged awkward glances, puzzled by her sudden interest in Konoha’s affairs. She didn’t seem like a ninja, yet she was so keenly interested.
“It’s just some scandals, nothing important,” one gambler said dismissively. “Konoha is a mess. We should get back to our game. There’s no need to waste time on this nonsense.”
Another gambler chimed in, clearly wanting to steer the conversation away from Konoha’s issues. “Yeah, let’s start the game. This is just a distraction.”
Despite their reluctance to continue discussing Konoha, Tsunade stood up decisively. “I’m not gambling anymore,” she declared, making her way out of the den. Realising the gravity of the situation, she decided it was time to return to Konoha to understand the full extent of what was happening.
“Don’t go!” the gamblers called after her, knowing they were about to lose a lucrative player. However, Tsunade was resolute. She knew that only by returning to Konoha could she truly grasp the unfolding events involving the Third Hokage and Orochimaru, understanding that the village was in significant turmoil.
