Reincarnated in One Piece - Chapter 32
A day passed in a blur.
Since Eren, in his titan form, had blocked the hole with a giant boulder, the southern Trost District of Wall Rose had gradually begun to recover.
Today marked the 57th expedition outside the walls. The plan was to explore the route to Eren’s family basement in the Shiganshina District of Wall Maria’s western side. However, the objective was to lure out other intelligent titans and capture them alive.
This operation involved almost the entire Survey Corps, with many soldiers.
Wearing the Wings of Freedom, Tang An rode a horse, following the main force through the western outer gate into the area beyond Wall Maria.
“Move out!” Erwin shouted, leading the large force as it split into three groups, forming a triangular formation and advancing toward the target.
For some reason, Erwin included Tang An and Zhou Wei in this mission, naturally placing Eren in the center.
Eld, Hange, and other elite soldiers subtly surrounded Eren, Tang An, and Zhou Wei. Tang An’s face remained expressionless, though he occasionally glanced at Zhou Wei.
Since their first introduction, Tang An and Zhou Wei had yet to exchange a single word, but Tang An knew Zhou Wei was watching him.
Everyone on the team had hidden agendas, including Erwin, Levi, and Hange.
“Titans on the right!” The fast-moving horses were suddenly met with a signal flare from the right, indicating the presence of Titans.
“Keep moving forward!” Erwin ordered, continuing to lead the charge towards the Forest of Giant Trees.
“Boom! Boom!” Shortly after, signal flares also rose from the left, indicating multiple titans with a more urgent situation.
Armin, Reiner, and others were moving in the southeast direction without encountering titans. However, when a loud rumbling came from behind, a nearly 14-meter-tall female titan with blonde hair and blue eyes, moving faster than their horses, appeared.
“It’s so fast, an abnormal type?” Armin turned back, initially thinking it was just an abnormal titan and not realizing it was an intelligent one.
“You guys keep moving forward, I’ll handle it,” a Survey Corps soldier slowed down, using his ODM gear to shoot grappling hooks onto the female titan and attempting to attack.
“Snap!” Like swatting a fly, the titan’s hand moved, and the soldier was crushed into a bloody mist and pieces.
The female titan attacked Three more soldiers but was similarly evaded and killed.
Only then did Armin realize something was wrong. “That’s not an abnormal titan; it’s intelligent, like Eren.”
“Armin, stay calm. This female titan is probably targeting Eren. Where is he?” Reiner asked, his face stiff with what looked like fear.
“He should be to the southwest,” Armin replied, panicked but not suspecting Reiner.
“Watch out!” Reiner shouted, prompting Armin to duck, narrowly avoiding the titan’s grab.
“Damn, this titan is too fast. Armin, keep going; I’ll handle it.” Reiner flew toward the female titan, only to be caught quickly.
“Reiner!” Armin’s eyes widened in horror, his heartbeat stopping momentarily.
“Splurt!” Blood splattered, and in a burst of steam, Reiner broke free from the titan’s hand, which was left steaming and mangled.
“Go!” Reiner, covered in blood and steam, urged.
“The female titan is gone.” Armin’s expression froze as he saw the titan heading southwest, exactly where Eren was.
The Forest of Giant Trees was a particular area in Attack on Titan, filled with massive, thick trees that would take five or six people to encircle.
“There it is, the Forest of Giant Trees,” Tang An noted, seeing the forest ahead.
The side units also noticed it, and at Erwin’s signal, they began to circle the forest while Levi’s squad charged in.
At this point, Erwin separated from them, leaving Levi in command.
“Zhou Wei, Gilgar, Shichiyo, Thomas… stay and keep watch,” Levi ordered as they entered the forest.
“Yes!” Gilgar and the others used their ODM gear to take positions in the trees.
“Captain Levi, can I stay as well?” Zhou Wei hesitated, knowing his mission was to protect Eren. Although he knew the female titan wouldn’t capture Eren, anything could happen.
He glanced at Tang An, wondering if he was a character he missed from the anime. Through recent inquiries, Zhou Wei found Tang An highly suspicious.
“That’s an order.” Levi’s eyes were cold and intimidating.
Zhou Wei hesitated, then used his ODM gear to perch on a giant tree, his eyes lingering on Levi’s squad until they disappeared into the forest depths.
“Levi, maybe I should stay and keep watch too?” Tang An saw the tension in Levi, Smith, Petra, and the others. If Zhou Wei hadn’t obeyed, they might have attacked him.
“Stay with us,” Levi replied without turning.
“No problem,” Tang An complied, eyes narrowing in thought, unable to predict Levi’s—or Erwin’s—intentions.
Despite Erwin’s separation from them, he indeed controlled the overall plan. Perhaps Levi followed the original scheme known only to Erwin and Levi.
With his strategic mind and foresight, Erwin deserved his title as commander of the Survey Corps.
“Thud… thud…” As they advanced, rapid footsteps approached from behind—the female titan had appeared.
“Finally, she shows up,” Levi remarked, looking at the female titan, surprised. They hadn’t expected to draw out this particular titan.
“Captain Levi, the titan is here,” Eren said, his eyes filled with hatred.
“I know. Keep moving forward,” Levi ordered without looking back, his gaze fixed ahead.
Everyone was tense; it was clear this female titan was intelligent.
“She’s catching up. We’ll be overtaken soon,” Eld said, his body tense as the footsteps grew louder.
“Captain Levi, we need to fight back!” Eren suggested.
“You guys keep moving forward; I’ll handle this,” Tang An declared, drawing his blades and flying toward the female titan before anyone could stop him.
Facing the female titan’s blue eyes, Tang An smirked slightly. “I can’t let you catch them.”
His grappling hooks shot into the titan’s shoulder, and Tang An spun, appearing behind her neck, his blades gleaming as he prepared to strike.
“Smack!” A large hand swatted at him, and though Tang An’s face showed fear, his eyes were full of triumph and mockery.
As quickly as he had approached, he was slapped away and disappeared into the forest.
The scene happened so fast that no one expected Tang An to be taken down so quickly.
