Reincarnated in One Piece - Chapter 40
Like a flash of light, Tang An charged into the Survey Corps ranks without hesitation, his twin kukri knives gleaming beautifully in the sunlight.
“Disperse, disperse!” Armin shouted, his body trembling with fear. Without the weapons, Levi, Mikasa, and Zhou Wei could easily handle the Female Titan, but now the Female Titan was armed.
Armin didn’t believe those weapons were just for show.
“Damn it,” Levi muttered, his expression more grim than ever. The current situation felt entirely different; now, he sensed a chilling danger from the Female Titan.
“Slash, slash…”
It was a slaughter. Tang An moved through the soldiers like a tiger among sheep, easily cutting down men and horses. A single sweeping kick from him had the force of a bomb, killing many at once.
“Everyone else, keep moving forward!”
“Swish…”
Levi and Mikasa leaped into action, flanking the Female Titan from both sides, searching for an opening.
“Captain!” Jean, Connie, and others trembled as they skirted around the Female Titan.
Zhou Wei did not engage, despite suspecting that this Female Titan could be the Dark One. The appearance of the kukri knives was a clear sign.
The storyline had diverged beyond control. The priority now was to protect the protagonist.
Tang An did not pursue but stood firm, facing Levi and Mikasa. Both sides hesitated, and neither made the first move.
“Damn it,” Levi cursed, his face dark. Though the Female Titan’s nape was exposed, he didn’t dare attack recklessly as he had before. His hands, gripping his blades, were slick with cold sweat.
Mikasa, too, could sense the deadly danger and refrained from acting rashly.
“Swish…”
Tang An moved, slashing at Mikasa with his left-hand kukri, his speed astonishing.
Simultaneously, Levi lunged, aiming to slice through the Female Titan’s Achilles tendon to immobilize her.
But Tang An was prepared.
“She jumped!”
Levi’s eyes widened as the Female Titan leaped, avoiding his strike. Mikasa took the opportunity to attack the nape, but Tang An anticipated her move. With a swift kick aimed at Levi and a slash that severed Mikasa’s ODM cables, she lost control and crashed to the ground, spitting blood and struggling to rise.
Now covered in blood, Levi spiraled upward, aiming for the nape. He had a new blade in hand, ready to strike.
Tang An’s left-hand kukri vanished as he moved to protect his nape, but Levi feinted, dropping down to target Tang An’s left leg instead.
With a burst of hot blood, Tang An’s left leg became useless, collapsing him to the ground.
Levi, hovering in the air, did not press his attack. Despite the Female Titan’s incapacity to stand, he remained cautious.
“Is it over?” Mikasa, lying on the ground, felt her bones had shattered, blood pouring from her mouth. Her right leg was twisted grotesquely.
In the air, Levi watched for an opening.
Suddenly, steam billowed from the Female Titan’s nape. Through the mist, a figure emerged, standing tall.
“Against someone like you, Titan powers are a burden,” Tang An said, his black hair fluttering in the steam. His face was streaked with blood, his upper body bare and muscular.
“Tang An,” Levi said, landing on the ground, his eyes locked on Tang An.
Mikasa, in the distance, gasped in shock.
No one expected Tang An to be the Female Titan.
“So Armin’s guess was wrong. The Female Titan isn’t Annie; it’s you!” Levi said, then quickly corrected himself. “No, that’s not right. You were supposedly killed by the Female Titan in the Forest of Giant Trees.”
“How can you be the Female Titan?” Levi’s mind raced.
“It’s simple. I killed Annie and took her Titan power,” Tang An said, stepping down from the Female Titan’s nape, kukri knives reappearing in his hands.
“Now I need to determine if you’re an enemy,” Levi said, his voice icy.
“I wasn’t before, but I am now.”
“Then die!” Levi attacked as soon as Tang An finished speaking, and his decision was made.
Tang An, gripping his kukri knives, remained calm, watching Levi approach like a sword slicing through the air.
At the last moment, Levi’s blade was inches from Tang An’s neck.
“Swish!”
Time, he seemed to stop. Levi’s eyes widened as Tang An vanished from his sight, reappearing behind him. Pain radiated from Levi’s heart, a brilliant kukri knife protruding through his chest.
“Thud…”
Tang An stepped back, pulling the knife free as blood dripped from the blade. Levi staggered forward a few steps before collapsing, the ground beneath him soaked in blood.
“Levi,” Mikasa gasped, unable to believe her eyes. Levi, their strongest warrior, was downed in a single exchange.
How was this possible?
Tang An stood over Levi, raising his kukri for a final blow. Levi wasn’t dead yet. In Attack on Titan, some families possessed extraordinary abilities, and Levi was one of them, an Ackerman.
“Clang!” Levi made one last attempt, his blade striking at Tang An’s legs. Tang An blocked the attack with his kukri and then slashed Levi’s throat.
Blood gushed out, and Levi’s head separated from his body, his eyes losing focus.
With Levi defeated, Tang An moved swiftly to Mikasa. She tried to resist, but a slash to her neck ended it quickly.
Tang An flicked the blood from his knives and looked at the approaching mindless Titans. Using Moonwalk, he ascended into the air, flying towards the Forest of Giant Trees.
