Reincarnated in One Piece - Chapter 53
“Ugh…”
Several buildings collapsed, and Zhou Wei lay in the rubble, blood gushing from his mouth, his face pale, and his ribs broken beyond count. His chest had a gaping wound, revealing his beating heart.
Opposite him, Tang An was panting heavily, his condition no better than Zhou Wei’s. The war BGM was about to end.
Without the BGM, he wouldn’t stand a chance against Zhou Wei. He needed to end this quickly.
“Shing!”
Tang An disappeared, reappearing in a flash, dual-wielding kukri knives like thunderbolts.
“You’ve forced my hand,” Zhou Wei snarled, his face twisted. “Redeem Blood Burst Pill.”
Using half of his exchange points, Zhou Wei redeemed a red pill and swallowed it. He had no choice but to fight desperately now.
The Blood Burst Pill temporarily unlocked immense potential within the user, granting them tremendous power. However, its side effects were severe, leaving the user gravely weakened and possibly damaging their foundation.
“Damn,” Tang An cursed, realizing Zhou Wei had taken something to recover or enhance his strength. This was a trope in every novel and anime—a protagonist using a powerful item at a significant cost to turn the tide.
He was panicking now. According to all story patterns, Zhou Wei would unleash his hidden power, and Tang An would end up defeated.
Sure enough…
“Argh!”
Zhou Wei roared, his body swelling, his eyes bloodshot. Purple qi burned around him like fire, his aura exploding violently, shattering the ground around him into pieces.
Within a twenty-meter radius, the ground turned into a bottomless pit.
Zhou Wei’s short hair stood on end, his blood-red eyes locking onto Tang An with murderous intent.
His unseen form struck instantly, and Tang An’s hair stood on end. He ducked just as Zhou Wei’s kick obliterated the buildings behind him.
“Crack!”
Zhou Wei didn’t stop, spinning and kicking again. The air itself seemed to shatter under the force.
Tang An barely managed to block with his kukri knives, but the impact felt like a train crashing into him. His arms broke, and his chest caved in, blood spraying from his mouth.
“Whoosh…”
Tang An crashed through several buildings, leaving a trail of destruction. He lay in agony, his arms and chest steaming as the Titan’s power tried to heal him.
He couldn’t win; he was completely outmatched. Another few hits, and he might be dead.
Enduring the pain, Tang An didn’t hesitate. Using Moonwalk, he flew high into the sky, fleeing.
What about his pride? He was about to die; pride didn’t matter.
Tang An valued his life too much to fight a losing battle. If the gap in strength wasn’t too wide, he might have risked it. But this was too much.
Without the Titan’s healing, that kick alone could have killed him.
Zhou Wei must have used something with severe side effects, weakening him afterward. Now was the time to retreat and wait for his chance.
No one cared about being sneaky or cowardly. It was life or death. Survival and killing the opponent were all that mattered.
Tang An’s escape surprised Zhou Wei. He had just exchanged points for immense power, and Tang An fled after one hit.
Zhou Wei had paid an enormous price for this power. Was it for nothing?
According to normal development, Tang An should have arrogantly fought and been defeated. But he ran.
Zhou Wei was furious.
“You coward, stop running!”
Luckily, Zhou Wei couldn’t fly. He could only use Lingbo Weibu on the ground, matching Tang An’s speed.
To be safe, Tang An flew higher, at least a thousand meters, wary of Zhou Wei suddenly jumping up or flying.
He was cautious.
On the ground, Zhou Wei cursed, watching Tang An fly higher and spit blood.
He could reach five or six hundred meters with his qi, but he hadn’t expected Tang An to be so cautious, flying over a thousand meters and still climbing.
Tang An ignored Zhou Wei’s insults, giving him the middle finger before flying over Wall Rose and disappearing.
Zhou Wei stopped at Wall Rose, his temporary power fading. As Tang An vanished from sight, Zhou Wei’s body broke down, blood pouring from his mouth and nose, staining the ground.
“Zhou Wei, are you okay?”
Armin and the others flew to Wall Rose, seeing Zhou Wei covered in blood and looking worried.
Without Zhou Wei, Eren might have…
“Cough… cough…”
Zhou Wei looked at the distant sky, unwilling.
“Cunning bastard, I miscalculated.”
Zhou Wei collapsed, unconscious from the Blood Burst Pill’s side effects. He would lose most of his blood and be unable to move freely, possibly damaging his foundation.
If he couldn’t repair his foundation, his martial arts progress would halt, rendering him useless.
He wouldn’t mind if he had killed Tang An, but he only managed two attacks, one of which was missed. The other injured Tang An, but he escaped.
He ran away.
Zhou Wei felt bitter and frustrated.
“Zhou Wei! Zhou Wei!”
Seeing Zhou Wei unconscious, Armin and the others lifted him, shouting his name.
Both Wall Rose and Wall Sheena had fallen. Titans roamed everywhere, and their mission was a failure.
They had lost terribly.
“Ah…”
The three regiments continued fighting in the town, but there were too many Titans.
They couldn’t clear them out quickly.
Many soldiers didn’t even leave whole corpses, and civilians were helpless before the Titans, unable to escape.
Screams, wails, and terror filled the sky.
“Commander, this isn’t working,” a bloodied Survey Corps member said. The blood belonged to Titans.
“Form groups to distract the Titans, giving civilians time to escape,” Erwin ordered, hands clenched. He had never felt so powerless.
“Yes.”
Meanwhile, Tang An, who had fled, changed direction.
His broken ribs and injuries had fully healed, though it cost him a lot of energy.
This was the power of the Titans. Even in human form, he could regenerate.
If only he could harden his human body, but despite many attempts, he wouldn’t have succeeded.
Maybe it just needed more time.
In the original story, Annie used hardening to encase herself, so it should be possible.
