Reincarnated in One Piece - Chapter 62
Under the ink-black sky, a solitary crescent moon hung above the forest, casting a dim light that made the entire place look eerie and terrifying.
“Boom…”
Suddenly, a loud explosion echoed through the forest, accompanied by a cruel laugh.
“Run… just keep running.”
Sanemi’s face twisted with malice as he looked at the terrified demon fleeing before him. He licked his lips like a demon himself, chasing after the demon at a leisurely pace.
“This lunatic…”
The demon, named Gyuumei, had a pair of curved horns on his head, and his face was covered with cracks and bloodstains. Standing at two meters tall, he glanced back at Sanemi, who was closing in. His body was covered in cold sweat as he desperately ran for his life.
Gyuumei wasn’t even among the Lower Moons, but he had devoured fifty or sixty people, making him quite strong. However, at this moment, he wished he had more legs to escape the pursuing demon behind him.
Compared to the horror of the figure behind him, Gyuumei himself seemed less like a demon. The terror he felt from being unable to resist in front of his tormentor was overwhelming.
“First Form: Surface Slash.”
A spiraling storm shot out like a spear, tearing through the ground. Gyuumei’s chest was pierced, causing him to spit out a mouthful of blood as he was sent flying, crashing into a hillside with a loud bang.
The pungent scent of blood stained the ground as Gyuumei, terrified, watched Sanemi approach. He continued to retreat, leaning against the ruins with a basketball-sized hole in his chest, his insides visible through the gap.
“Too weak.”
Sanemi looked down at Gyuumei from above, clearly dissatisfied. He wanted to hunt down the Twelve Kizuki or even Muzan Kibutsuji, but these entities were complex to come by, so he had to take his anger out on these weaker demons.
“Tell me the whereabouts of the Twelve Kizuki, and I might spare your life.”
Sanemi kicked Gyuumei to the ground and stepped on his head, torturing him like a devil.
“I’m just an ordinary demon; how would I know the whereabouts of the Twelve Kizuki?”
Gyuumei’s face was filled with fear.
“Ah…”
Blood sprayed everywhere as Sanemi swung his Nichirin blade, severing Gyuumei’s legs instantly. They were hard to kill as long as a Nichiren blade didn’t cut off a demon’s neck.
“What’s the use of you, then?”
With a flash of the blade, Gyuumei’s arms were also chopped off.
“Spare me! I promise I won’t eat people anymore!”
Gyuumei was terrified, only wanting to get away from this demon.
“You’re all worthless.”
Sanemi’s face was ferocious. Torturing this demon brought him no excitement. If it were one of the Twelve Kizuki or Muzan, the torture would be much more satisfying.
“I’ll send you on your way!”
Sanemi raised his Nichirin blade to deliver the final blow.
“Boom!”
Suddenly, a golden lightning bolt descended from the sky, causing the ground to tremble and kick up dirt and rocks. The center of the impact was shrouded in dust. The sound of clashing metal filled the air, creating a murderous atmosphere. The blinding golden storm lit up the entire forest. A golden boot emerged from the dust, each step echoing like the sounds of an ancient battlefield.
Sanemi watched intently as the golden warrior, whose face was only partially visible, stepped out, his body tense with a severe expression. He sensed a powerful and hostile presence.
“Is it one of the Twelve Kizuki?”
No.
Sanemi looked at the deep, starry eyes visible through the golden helmet, resembling a purple diamond engraved with patterns.
Those eyes…
“It’s you.”
Although Sanemi was reluctant to admit it, he had seen those eyes during the day.
How is this possible?
“Crack…”
Tang An said nothing. His initially calm breathing started to change, and golden lightning began to crackle around him. In the next moment, the ground under his feet cracked and collapsed as he disappeared with an explosive burst.
“Damn it.”
“Fifth Form of the Breath of Wind: Cold Mountain Wind.”
Sanemi’s hair stood on end, his breathing becoming heavy and rapid. He immediately used a large-scale attack from the Breath of Wind to force Tang An back. Giant wind blades swirled around, tearing through the air.
“Whoosh…”
But it was useless. Tang An’s body, under the golden armor, rapidly hardened into a crystalline-like material. He forcibly broke through the storm and punched Sanemi in the abdomen.
Blood spurted from Sanemi’s mouth and nose as his face contorted in pain. He was sent flying into the forest, crashing through trees, the air wailing from the force.
“Crack…”
But Tang An was faster. Combining Shave with the Breath of Thunder, he moved like natural lightning, leaving a golden trail behind as he appeared behind the still-airborne Sanemi.
A foot, radiant like a crystal, tore through the air and struck Sanemi’s back. The sound of bones breaking echoed as Sanemi was sent flying back even faster.
As Tang An appeared in the pitch-black sky, he plummeted down.
At that moment, Sanemi had just arrived, only to be stomped into the ground. The surrounding thirty meters of earth cracked and lifted, forming a shockwave that spread outward, creating a large crater at the center.
Not far away, Gyuumei, who was in the process of regenerating, felt even more terror.
What the hell is going on?
The one who had been crushing him quickly was now crushed by someone else.
In the crater, Tang An stood, holding Sanemi’s spiky white hair. His violet diamond-patterned eyes were filled with indifference.
Blood continued to pour from Sanemi’s orifices. He stared at Tang An, spitting out bits of flesh and internal organs.
Tang An casually threw Sanemi into the air. As Sanemi fell, Tang An spun and kicked, sending Sanemi flying thirty meters away, leaving a two-meter-wide trench along the ground.
Tang An walked through the broken trench, the clinking sound of his armor clear and sharp.
“Ugh…”
Sanemi couldn’t speak. His chest was completely caved in, exposing his ribs. After just four moves, he was utterly defeated.
Standing over Sanemi, Tang An looked down with disdain.
It was just like earlier that day, except their roles were reversed.
“Come here!”
Tang An turned to Gyuumei, who was trying to sneak away.
Gyuumei had fully recovered but was now terrified, just wanting to escape.
He hadn’t even seen the fight. By the time he understood what had happened, it was already over.
Tang An’s command made Gyuumei shiver. Sweating profusely, he turned back, face filled with horror.
“Come here and eat him.”
Tang An’s violet eyes were devoid of emotion.
“Ah…”
Gyuumei hesitated, but when he met Tang An’s gaze, he shivered and reluctantly walked over to Sanemi, starting to eat him.
The human who used to taste delicious now felt tasteless to Gyuumei.
Gyuumei glanced at Tang An’s golden boots, his heart pounding with fear.
Sanemi was being devoured by Gyuumei. He was unable to even scream, and he stared at Tang An. Tang An calmly met his gaze.
Once Gyuumei had eaten half of Sanemi’s body, ensuring his death, Tang An glanced at Gyuumei before the ground exploded beneath him as he shot into the sky, vanishing like a golden lightning bolt.
“Too… too terrifying.”
Once sure Tang An had left, Gyuumei collapsed, trembling with fear.
He hadn’t seen Tang An’s face, but those eyes were etched into his memory.
Tang An didn’t kill Gyuumei because he wanted it to appear that a demon killed Sanemi. They wouldn’t suspect him no matter how the Demon Slayer Corps investigated. After all, he was severely injured and wounded by Sanemi.
And Gyuumei hadn’t seen his face, leaving no trace of his involvement.
Even if there were flaws, it didn’t matter. It was unlikely anyone would suspect him in the short term.
