Soul Land: Power Of Space - 27. Revenge
Tang San was half-kneeling on the ground, unable to move. Cold sweat poured down from his forehead, and the drops fell to the ground as if they were worth a fortune.
As a disciple of Tang Sect, he could easily assess his own injuries. Having analyzed several things in his previous life, he had some understanding of the human body. He knew that at least three pairs of ribs were broken, and his shoulder blade was slightly damaged. Even his spine had taken a significant hit, which was why he dared not move.
Tang San couldn’t afford to take such a gamble. The attack from Lu Yuan just now had been merciless, causing his back to be covered in blood and torn flesh. It could be considered a fatal injury, proving the tremendous power behind the attack. And this was the result of him protecting his back with his spirit power. If his reaction had been slightly slower, the consequences would have been even worse.
“Brother!” Xiao Wu shouted with anguish as she witnessed Tang San’s miserable state. She vigorously slapped the space barrier that confined her and yelled, “Let me out!”
Lu Yuan walked out of the dust without paying any attention to Tang San, who was half-kneeling on the ground. He walked directly to the space barrier, stretched out his hand, and pulled forcefully. Xiao Wu involuntarily flew towards Lu Yuan, and his big hand appeared before her, gripping her neck mercilessly.
Lu Yuan looked intently at Xiao Wu’s face and pressed it against her ear. His voice was deep and slightly hoarse.
“I am a very impatient person. I also crave respect. If I have to keep reminding you to recognize your identity, it will make me feel you don’t take my words seriously. That would make me very angry because it would mean you don’t respect my words and you don’t respect me.”
Ning Rongrong stared coldly at Lu Yuan as he held Xiao Wu by the neck. In her eyes, he was no longer worthy of being an examiner. Even the candidates couldn’t be worse. Today it was Xiao Wu being held, but tomorrow it could be ZhuQing, or the day after tomorrow it could be herself.
“Let her go!” Ning Rongrong exclaimed, dismissing any concern for Lu Yuan’s reputation. In that moment, Ning Rongrong truly embodied the heir of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School.
Her forceful attitude surprised Dai Mubai and the others, and even Zhu Zhuqing couldn’t help but look at this delicate and seemingly weak girl in a different light.
“If I were who I was six years ago, I would listen to you,” Lu Yuan said, without making much sense. He stared closely into Xiao Wu’s eyes. “I’ll tell you one last time. Remember your identity!”
Xiao Wu struggled but eventually nodded. Her face had turned slightly blue, a symptom of oxygen deprivation. Yet, she stopped resisting and closed her eyes, allowing Lu Yuan to do as he pleased.
Lu Yuan chuckled and slowly released his grip. Bruised marks remained on Xiao Wu’s slender neck as she leaned against the barrier, gasping for air. She had never felt so grateful for the ability to breathe.
Today, she had learned a valuable lesson. Dragging Xiao Wu over to Tang San, Lu Yuan’s mouth curled into a slight smile as he reached out to touch the blue-purple marks on Xiao Wu’s neck. “Tang San, does it hurt?”
Tang San struggled to lift his head, his eyelids heavy. He could hear the continuous groaning of his bones, but he still had a chance. The distance wasn’t enough. It needed to be closer.
Lu Yuan squatted down, forcefully pinching Tang San’s chin and making him raise his head. The sudden intense pain made Tang San wonder if his jaw had been crushed. “That’s right! That’s it!” Lu Yuan’s smile had a touch of madness.
“Unwilling! Angry! Hatred! Powerlessness! That feeling of helplessness! It’s so similar! It’s just like me six years ago! The me who was like a lost dog!”
His manic and hoarse laughter sent shivers down everyone’s spines. Lu Yuan took a deep breath and slowly exhaled. Then he raised his hand and forcefully slapped Tang San’s face with the back of his hand. “I love the emotions in your eyes. It’s these emotions that have supported me in climbing out of hell!”
Pausing for a moment, Lu Yuan suppressed the slightly sickly smile on his face and tore off his upper clothing. For the first time, the dense scars and wounds on his body came into view, shocking Dai Mubai and the others. Ning Rongrong covered her mouth in astonishment, trying to stifle her scream.
“Did you see that? Can you see clearly? If you can’t, you can take your time!”
Lu Yuan exclaimed. “I’m standing here today! Standing tall in front of you! I have time, and I have patience! I’ve prepared for this moment for six years, for 2,190 days! One thousand three hundred and seventy-eight scars! The severe ones had me disemboweling myself, and the minor ones made me dance on the edge between cutting off the decaying flesh and not cutting it off! A six-year-old child survived in the Star Dou Forest for six years and came out alive. Ordinary novels wouldn’t dare write such a story. It’s evident that I was able to survive the Star Dou Forest and escape, all thanks to you!”
“Tang San, don’t you think so?” Lu Yuan smiled and forcefully pressed Tang San’s head down. A crisp sound of bones colliding echoed, and the sickly smile on Lu Yuan’s face became even more intense. “Answer me! Is it true? Is it true?!”
Lu Yuan unleashed his spirit power without reservation. Under this coercion, even lifting a finger was an extravagant hope for Tang San, who was forced into close contact with the ground. “Look, look! You’re still the same! You won’t answer my words again. Why is it always so difficult for someone to respect others?”
Lu Yuan spoke to himself with a smile as he firmly pressed Tang San’s head.
“There was a man who once said a famous line, ‘Only when you have the awareness of being shot can you be qualified to shoot.’ Just think about one thing. Back then, when your father and son trampled upon my dignity, did you ever consider that one day your own dignity would be trampled upon as well?”
With a kick, Lu Yuan sent Tang San rolling out of the mud. The smile on Lu Yuan’s face faded, and he spoke solemnly,
“Don’t worry, I won’t kill you. I want you to look at my back and live in my shadow for the rest of your life.”
Finally, he said, “Thank you for bringing me Xiao Wu.”
Lu Yuan pinched Xiao Wu’s face and leaned closer to Tang San. Tang San weakly opened and closed his left hand. Lying on the ground in a sorry state, he gazed fixedly at the sky above, his heart pounding fiercely. He spat out a mouthful of blood and lost consciousness, completely exhausted.
