Summoner of the Fairy Tail - Chapter 254
“Terrifying! Terrifying! What on earth is Mystogan’s background to be able to control the weather? Even Calvin and Laxus can’t do that! Fairy Tail has such a person among them?” Rahal thought in shock from the commentary booth. Seven years ago, he had carried out several ill-intentioned actions against Fairy Tail and thus had some understanding of them. However, the strength Fairy Tail displayed now far exceeded his expectations.
While Rahal was surprised, Mest, also part of the Council, was more perplexed than anything. He had infiltrated Fairy Tail before and knew Mystogan had long returned to Edolas, making it impossible for him to be in Earth Land. So who was this current Mystogan? Was there a plot against Fairy Tail? Mest’s guilt from his past actions on Tenrou Island made him protective of Fairy Tail, and the resurgence of Fairy Tail’s glory today made him happy. He felt a strong responsibility to safeguard Fairy Tail’s interests.
This unclear identity of Mystogan made him uneasy.
However, Mest was the only one among the spectators with such conflicted thoughts. Around him, the audience erupted into thunderous cheers after a brief moment of speechlessness, filling the entire arena with their excited shouts.
They had never witnessed such a breathtaking spectacle, not even in past Grand Magic Games.
They thought Jura’s performance was already spectacular, but Zancrow (Mystogan) provided an all-encompassing sensory feast. Words couldn’t describe their excitement.
This was true divine power, a natural force that no human could resist.
“Orga only came in fourth, earning just four points… Now, the gap between us and Fairy Tail is widening even more…” Minerva could no longer maintain her composure, her brow deeply furrowed. Given Fairy Tail’s current performance, catching up seemed almost impossible.
The audience’s excitement took a while to calm down, but they continued to discuss animatedly. This score highlighted the disparity in strength between the guilds.
“Fairy Tail has once again secured the top two positions in the competition. Is there no one who can stop them?” the reporter shouted hoarsely. Such an impressive feat had only been achieved by Sabertooth in the past.
“Let’s look at the current team scores. At the top, unsurprisingly, are the two teams from Fairy Tail, with 42 and 37 points respectively, showcasing their overwhelming strength!”
“In third place is Mermaid Heel with 21 points, significantly behind the second place. It’s almost impossible to catch up. We hope Kagura performs excellently in tomorrow’s competition.”
“In fourth place is Sabertooth, currently with 20 points, just one point behind third. This performance is unprecedentedly poor for them, and it’s uncertain how they’ll catch up.”
“Fifth place goes to Raven Tail, a guild with deep ties to Fairy Tail. As a first-time participant, their performance is neither outstanding nor poor, with 18 points.”
“Sixth place is Blue Pegasus. The handsome men of this guild haven’t performed well this year, usually ranking in the top tier. Halfway through the event, they only have 17 points.”
“Seventh place is Lamia Scale, a surprising turn of events. With Jura and Lyon competing, they were expected to be top contenders, but they have only 14 points. Hopefully, they can make a comeback.”
“At the bottom is Quatro Cerberus, with only 13 points. Except for Pascal, almost everyone has underperformed. Let’s hope they continue to strive.”
As the commentator finished his spirited recap, the arena was almost ready for the duel segment.
Calvin watched Natsu with a smug look, which irritated the latter. Although Natsu was also happy about the victory, Calvin’s smugness made it hard for him to smile.
“Just over nine thousand points, I should’ve tried harder. I might have broken ten thousand. But compared to those who struggled to reach three or four thousand, I’m just too amazing,” Calvin muttered just loudly enough for Natsu to hear, infuriating him further.
The duel participants were decided by the organizers, so despite Natsu’s eagerness, he couldn’t do anything.
“Damn it! If I get on stage, I’ll steal the spotlight!” Natsu cursed.
“Give it a rest. Don’t embarrass yourself again,” Gray taunted. Though annoyed, Natsu couldn’t argue, remembering his previous humiliating performance.
Lucy, feeling sorry for Natsu, tried to change the topic. “Calvin, are you still considered a Summoning Mage? That magic was ridiculous, even if it took some time to prepare.”
“Ha, as you said, it takes time to prepare. Using it in combat is difficult. Even for me, it takes at least three seconds. It needs improvement,” Calvin replied, accepting Lucy’s praise but remaining humble.
“Three seconds? You can use that magic in just three seconds?!” Lucy exclaimed, shocked. Natsu and Gray were equally astonished. A nearly instant-kill move in three seconds? Unbelievable.
Seeing their shocked faces, Calvin felt a bit proud but maintained a nonchalant demeanor. “For top mages, three seconds is a long time.”
“But you have summons! They can buy you three seconds, can’t they?” Gray thought but didn’t voice it, fearing Calvin’s response would make him feel worse.
He chose to stay silent.
“Erza is even more impressive. That sword can cut through magic. Your lightning wouldn’t work against her,” Natsu grumbled, still bitter.
“Most of that magic was real lightning, even I can’t cut through that,” Erza’s voice came from behind them. She had returned to her team’s stands after the competition ended.
“What do you mean? Calvin can summon natural lightning?” Lucy asked, puzzled.
“The key to that magic isn’t the lightning itself, but the storm clouds. Most of his magic was used to summon the clouds. The lightning strike only required a bit of shaping and guidance,” Erza explained, giving Calvin a satisfied look. “Genius idea, very impressive.”
“Thanks, but you took first place,” Calvin replied, accepting her praise.
As they bantered, the duel segment began. The contestants were Millianna from Mermaid Heel and Semmes from Quatro Cerberus. A slender, cute beauty against a plump man created a stark contrast in support.
The result matched the audience’s expectations. Millianna easily defeated Semmes, tying him up elegantly with her ropes.
“She’s gotten stronger. The magic power measurement couldn’t fully show her true strength,” Erza remarked, feeling very proud.
