Summoner of the Fairy Tail - Chapter 265
Minerva believed that as long as Sabertooth won the Grand Magic Games, they could still retain the title of the strongest guild in Fiore. This wasn’t impossible, as Sabertooth’s score was not that far behind Fairy Tail’s.
After the sea battle, Sabertooth gained ten points, while Fairy Tail A and B teams received only one point and zero points, respectively.
The current scores are as follows:
- Fairy Tail B Team: 48 points
- Fairy Tail A Team: 47 points
- Sabertooth: 40 points
- Mermaid Heel: 35 points
- Lamia Scale: 25 points
- Blue Pegasus: 20 points
- Quatro Cerberus: 15 points
Sabertooth was only eight points behind Fairy Tail. With some luck, a single match could put them in the lead. Of course, the most crucial part was the five-person team event on the final day.
In a certain part of the arena, a knight let out a sigh of relief after seeing the two teams calm down. He was Arcadios, the captain of the Fiore Kingdom’s Sakura Knights and the main organizer of the Grand Magic Games. He was also the white knight mentioned by Future Lucy, who had devised the Eclipse Plan.
His plan required not only the twelve Zodiac Keys but also a Celestial Spirit Mage. When he saw Lucy almost killed earlier, he was terrified. Bound by the rules, he couldn’t intervene. When he witnessed Calvin’s anger and immense magical power, he was even more frightened.
He feared that if Calvin lost control, the situation would end badly no matter the outcome, making it impossible for him to use Lucy.
Moreover, with Lucy severely injured, Fairy Tail would surely protect her closely, making it impossible to take her by force.
Arcadios had already recruited Yukino, who was expelled by Sabertooth, but relying solely on her wasn’t safe. The Eclipse Plan had consumed much of his time and effort, and he couldn’t afford any shortcomings.
However, after nearly four days of the Grand Magic Games, Fairy Tail’s strength had been fully displayed, especially Calvin’s god-like power. Taking Lucy from Fairy Tail would be as challenging as starting a war.
Therefore, using force was out of the question. He needed a more secure and gentle approach. The previous idea of hiring someone to abduct her was utterly foolish and must not be repeated.
In the infirmary, members of both Fairy Tail A and B teams gathered. They came to check on Lucy and to observe Calvin.
Everyone felt that Calvin’s earlier outburst wasn’t normal. Typically, he was the first to calm everyone down and come up with a plan without leaving any loose ends.
Acting recklessly with sheer power was something only Natsu or the old Laxus would do.
Thus, everyone couldn’t help but look at Calvin with concern. Mirajane, in particular, clung to his arm.
Calvin knew he had been unusually aggressive earlier. Though it was awkward, he couldn’t just dismiss their concerns, so he silently accepted their worry.
Fortunately, Makarov arrived, diverting everyone’s attention.
He came to inform them of the organizer’s notice. With Raven Tail disqualified, only seven teams remained, making the matches uneven. Therefore, the organizers decided to merge Fairy Tail A and B teams into one, adopting the lower score of 47 points.
“So, Master, how will you arrange this?” Calvin asked.
“Don’t worry, I won’t exclude you because of what happened earlier. You, Laxus, Erza, and Mirajane, as S-Class mages, will be on the team. But I can’t decide on the last spot,” Makarov said.
Natsu, Gajeel, Gray, and Juvia all looked hopeful, eager for that last spot.
They were all furious about Lucy’s treatment and wanted to avenge her, making them unwilling to give up the spot.
“I must avenge Lucy! I won’t let them get away with this!” Natsu growled.
“We all feel the same, but we need to consider the final day’s teamwork,” Gray countered calmly.
“I agree with Gray-sama! Of course, I fully support Gray-sama participating!” Juvia said sweetly, stars in her eyes.
Ignoring Juvia, the others focused on Makarov.
Ultimately, the decision was his.
“Calvin, what do you think?” Makarov asked after a few moments of thought.
“The one with the closest bond to Lucy is Natsu. I think he’s the best fit,” Calvin replied without hesitation.
Makarov nodded in agreement after a brief pause.
So, a new team was formed: led by Calvin, with Laxus, Erza, Mirajane, and Natsu.
Though Gajeel and the others were disappointed, they accepted Makarov’s decision.
“Now, let’s decide the participants for the duo battle. This time, we choose our fighters, and previous participants can fight again,” Makarov said, eyeing Calvin.
Calvin smiled and asked, “Who’s the opponent?”
“Sabertooth,” Makarov replied.
“How convenient. Let me and Natsu handle it. Sabertooth will likely send their so-called Twin Dragons. Natsu can show them the true difference between Dragon Slayers.”
“And I’ll make sure no one dies,” Calvin said with a smile.
“Remember what you said. No more impulsiveness,” Makarov warned, though he couldn’t hide his pride.
“Go out there and show them our strongest team!” Makarov shouted excitedly. He had never imagined forming such a powerful team during his tenure as Master.
As Calvin’s team stepped out to display their new lineup, their presence seemed to shake the entire arena. The crowd cheered wildly, already considering them the top contenders.
Other guilds watched with mixed feelings—joy, admiration, or complex emotions like those in Sabertooth. Once again, after seven years, Fairy Tail demonstrated its unbeatable spirit.
However, it wasn’t their turn yet. After the applause, they returned to the stands. The first duo battle was Blue Pegasus against Quatro Cerberus.
Quatro Cerberus sent their ace, Bacchus, and a sidekick, Rocker. Blue Pegasus, naturally, sent their strongest mage, Ichiya.
And the bunny.
Yes, a bunny, a mysterious figure in a bunny costume.
No one underestimated them. At this stage, it had to be a secret weapon.
Didn’t Ichiya’s confident smile say it all?
Compared to Blue Pegasus’s confident atmosphere, Quatro Cerberus seemed deflated.
Bacchus’s usual cocky grin was gone, replaced by a look of utter despair, as if he had been through something terrible.
Forget confidence; he had no fighting spirit left, walking awkwardly.
In the stands, Gajeel mused aloud, “Bacchus looks weird. Did he get injured?”
“Calvin knocked him out yesterday. Did something happen when he fulfilled his bet with Erza?” Levy replied absentmindedly.
Hearing this, Gray shivered, recalling Calvin’s talk of a harsh bet, and felt a moment of pity for Bacchus.
Despite Bacchus’s past rudeness, Gray now felt only sympathy for him.
From the stands, Erza shot Calvin a look that said, “Did you do that? You’re terrifying!” and unconsciously took two steps away from him.
Calvin ignored her look, finding Bacchus’s predicament amusing. Even without making Bacchus pay for the damages at Dragon Tequila Park, there was nothing to regret.
