Summoner of the Fairy Tail - Chapter 267
Realizing he couldn’t face the wolf-shaped magical constructs head-on, Rogue immediately activated his true combat mode. His entire body ignited with black flames, twisting his wrist free from the grip and disappearing like a shadow.
‘Shadow Mode!’
As a Shadow Dragon Slayer, Rogue excelled not in frontal assaults but in hiding within shadows, striking silently and unseen. His evasion skills were top-notch.
However, Calvin’s ‘Wolf Pack Chase’ was a tracking spell, and the ghostly white wolves relentlessly pursued their target until they either exploded upon contact or were destroyed.
In Shadow Mode, Rogue’s abilities were enhanced across the board. His speed and elusive nature far surpassed his previous state. After creating some distance from the wolves, he easily detonated them with a light breath of his dragon roar.
“Magic Amplification? Seems you’re not entirely stupid. Enhancing your traits through other means is smart, much more ambitious than our three dragons,” Calvin remarked, glancing at the other side where the White Dragon had also entered an amplified state called ‘White Drive.’ He spoke with the tone of an elder offering critique. Despite Rogue vanishing from sight, Calvin remained calm, showing no signs of defense.
But when a shadow appeared behind Calvin, it was instantly enveloped in blue flames. With a light shout, Rogue reappeared several meters away, his expression dark and cautious. He had faced many battles, but few could anticipate his moves in this mode.
Calvin hadn’t moved an inch since the battle began, not even raising a hand. His summon was doing all the work, and Rogue was helpless against it.
Rogue felt utterly demoralized.
He knew Calvin Marcar was renowned for controlling three summons simultaneously, coordinating them flawlessly. Now, just one summon was enough to overpower him.
Many spectators had similar thoughts. Laxus watched with a disgruntled expression. “Another new summon? Is he testing out a new summon’s power?”
“The blue flames don’t seem as aggressive or widespread as regular fire. I wonder what their effect is. Visually, it’s impressive,” Erza observed with interest, her face showing curiosity.
Calvin continued to watch the cautious Rogue, his summon remaining on guard without attacking.
No one knew why he was dragging things out. Normally, Calvin was known for relentless, overwhelming assaults.
The summon no longer had the dazzling blue flames, its hands not transformed into wings, looking like a harmless, disheveled man with a unique hairstyle.
It seemed like a trap, inviting the enemy to attack.
Suddenly, a laser beam pierced the summon’s chest. Rogue was overjoyed.
Many spectators were shocked at how vulnerable they appeared.
Sting, using his White Drive, was being overpowered by Natsu. In a counterattack, his laser accidentally hit the summon’s chest. Sting looked surprised, but Rogue saw it as an opportunity. He abandoned stealth and launched a full-force attack with his shadowy dragon slayer magic.
Calvin remained motionless, seemingly frozen in fear.
However, before Rogue’s attack could reach Calvin, a blue flaming wing intercepted it, perfectly blocking the strike.
Rogue was stunned to see the summon, whose chest had been pierced, still standing.
But how? Such a wound should incapacitate even a summon!
Rogue glanced at the summon’s chest. The blue flames had healed the pierced area, leaving no trace of the wound.
“Healed?!” Rogue couldn’t believe it and tried to retreat, but it was too late.
A flaming wing slashed down, preventing his escape, followed by a powerful kick to his abdomen. The pain was indescribable, far beyond anything he had imagined.
He could barely stay conscious, collapsing to the ground, his body trembling uncontrollably.
“So that’s the blue flames’ power? I remember old summons would disappear from such wounds,” Erza speculated.
“Seems likely, and its physical strength is remarkable,” Mira agreed.
Their guesses were accurate. This was one of Calvin’s new summons, named Phoenix Marco.
Inspired by a character from a popular manga in his past life, this summon possessed blue flames that could regenerate wounds, akin to a phoenix. Among all his summons, its physical prowess was unmatched, with simple yet powerful attacks and exceptional flying abilities.
Rogue was nearly incapacitated with a single kick, showcasing its strength.
Alongside Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Phoenix Marco was one of the seven strongest new summons, including Soul Reaper.
With Rogue down, Natsu’s fight against Sting was similarly decisive. Despite an intense battle, Natsu blocked Sting’s dragon slayer finisher and quickly overpowered him.
While not beaten to a pulp, Sting was close to it.
“Is that it? This is the so-called dragon-slaying power? What a joke,” Calvin said coldly, looking down at Rogue with disdain.
“Shut… shut up! You know nothing!” Rogue struggled to stand, head lowered.
“I may not understand everything, but after witnessing dragon power, hearing someone claim to slay a dragon is laughable. Unless that dragon was too weak to fly,” Calvin continued to mock.
“I can’t prove what happened back then,” Sting also managed to stand, “Maybe I can’t defeat you, but I won’t lose to Natsu.”
“Indeed, let’s show you the true power of third-generation dragon slayers,” Rogue said, finally standing and lifting his head. The Twin Dragons’ appearance had completely changed.
One radiated holy white light with white markings on his face, while the other emitted mysterious black shadows with dark markings.
Their aura was worlds apart from before.
If Calvin’s previous magic power was like an immeasurable ocean, the Twin Dragons’ current power was refined and concentrated, like meticulously crafted steel or polished diamond.
It was clear now that this was the true form of dragon slayers.
“Dragon Force?”
