- Chapter 13 - The Forest of Death, Blood-soaked Battlefield
In the Forest of Death, Tenya opened the sealed scroll.
A large “Heaven” character dominated the scroll’s surface.
“So, it’s a Heaven Scroll!”
Knowing he had a Heaven Scroll, he now needed to obtain an Earth Scroll.
After putting the scroll away, Tenya took only a few steps before hearing hurried footsteps behind him.
“Are you sure that Konoha kid is in this direction?”
“Absolutely sure!”
“Good, speed up. We can’t let that Konoha kid escape!”
Soon, Tenya heard the buzzing sound of bees.
Following closely behind the bees were three Iwagakure ninja.
One of the Iwa-nin, surrounded by several bees, had generated the buzzing sound.
“So, it’s a member of the Kamizuru clan!”
Similar to Konoha’s Aburame clan, the Kamizuru clan from Iwagakure also used insects.
It was no wonder they could find him so quickly.
“Got you, kid!”
The ninja controlling the bees, Akahachi, grinned arrogantly. He thought that since Tenya dared to participate in the second round alone, he might have some strength. However, against a three-person team, a lone Genin seemed like easy prey.
“Kid, hand over your scroll, and maybe we’ll spare your life!”
“And if I don’t?” Tenya asked calmly, not showing any fear as he faced the three Iwa-nin.
The Iwa-nin exchanged looks, then drew their weapons, their eyes filled with killing intent.
“Kid, you’re either brave or foolish.”
“Do you think you can take us on?”
“Enough talk. Let’s kill him!”
As the Iwa-nin prepared to attack, Akahachi unleashed his bees.
“Beehive Technique!”
A swarm of bees, as if injected with adrenaline, rushed towards Tenya, spewing dark red honey that acted like super-strong glue, binding Tenya’s legs.
The other two Iwa-nin launched their pre-prepared jutsu at Tenya.
“Earth Release: Rock Pillar Spears!”
“Earth Release: Rock Fist Technique!”
Two attacks landed on Tenya, kicking up a cloud of dust that obscured the Iwa-nin’s vision.
“Is he dead?” one Iwa-nin asked uncertainly.
As the dust settled, there was no sign of Tenya.
“Something’s wrong!”
They realized too late. Akahachi felt a sharp pain in his throat as blood spurted out, and he fell.
Before the remaining two could react, they felt a sharp pain in their necks and collapsed, lifeless.
“Too slow! And too weak!”
Tenya flicked the blood off his sword and sheathed it.
He searched the three Iwa-nin and found an Earth Scroll, exactly what he needed.
Now, he had both scrolls needed to advance to the next round. However, he still had to reach the central tower and survive until the end of the second round.
Knowing it was best not to linger, Tenya prepared to move on but glanced at a corner of the forest where a camera was hidden. It had recorded the entire battle.
Tenya was not concerned. He had only shown a fraction of his power.
Meanwhile, in the monitoring room, the atmosphere was tense.
Iwagakure’s team leader, Kurotsuchi, was furious at seeing her team defeated so easily.
These were supposed to be elite ninja, yet they fell in seconds. She hoped the other hidden forces would restore their village’s honor.
Orochimaru, watching the battle, couldn’t help but smile.
“Interesting,” he mused. “It seems your student is quite something, Y?hi. His swordsmanship is on par with the White Fang’s at that age. Perhaps he’ll surpass even him.”
“Don’t exaggerate,” Y?hi Shinku replied, glancing at the other village leaders, who seemed displeased.
In the Forest of Death, the battle raged on, with more teams falling.
Tenya hadn’t encountered any other participants since defeating the Iwa-nin, but the tranquility didn’t last.
Suddenly, he heard dogs barking. Looking towards the sound, he saw a team of three Konoha ninja, battered and fleeing.
Among them were Inuzuka Naoto, Aburame Hijiri, and Hy?ga Akikaze, all injured. Naoto’s dog was even worse off, with patches of fur singed.
They noticed Tenya, but instead of relief, their faces were filled with despair.
“Tenya, run! You can’t fight them!”
Naoto shouted a warning, but Tenya stood his ground, seemingly waiting for something.
Naoto and his team were desperate, signaling for Tenya to flee, but he remained unmoved.
Seeing Tenya standing still, Naoto’s team had no choice but to stop and prepare for battle.
Soon, three Suna-nin emerged from the trees, exuding killing intent.
These were elite fighters, seasoned in battle and dangerous.
If Tenya was right, these three were Suna’s hidden aces.
One of the Suna-nin stepped forward, his chakra flaring up.
“You’re either brave or foolish to face us,” he sneered.
Naoto and his team realized they had no choice but to fight alongside Tenya. They knew their chances were slim but hoped they could survive by working together.
“Tenya, we need to work together,” Hijiri urged. “Follow my lead, and we might have a chance.”
“No need,” Tenya replied coldly. “I can handle them. You should stay back.”
“What?” Naoto exclaimed. “Tenya, don’t be reckless!”
The Suna-nin charged, but Tenya moved even faster, his sword flashing in the sunlight.
Blades clashed, and in moments, Tenya and the Suna-nin had passed each other.
The Suna-nin were injured, bleeding heavily, while Tenya was unscathed.
Naoto’s team watched in awe as Tenya stood alone, having fended off the Suna-nin’s initial assault.
“He… he can do it,” Hijiri whispered, hope rekindling in their hearts.
Tenya didn’t give the Suna-nin time to recover. He attacked again, his movements swift and deadly.
Using “Phantom Step Slash,” he created countless afterimages, confusing his opponents.
The Suna-nin tried to counter, but Tenya was too fast, his sword finding its mark.
With a final strike, Tenya defeated the last of the Suna-nin, their bodies falling lifeless to the ground.
He retrieved another Heaven Scroll from their corpses, then turned to Naoto’s team.
“Hand over your Earth Scroll,” he demanded.
Naoto hesitated but knew they were in no position to refuse.
They handed over their Earth Scroll, effectively ending their participation in the exam.
With both scrolls in hand, Tenya made a bold decision. He destroyed them, choosing to eliminate all other participants within the Forest of Death instead of following the exam’s standard procedures.
In the monitoring room, the proctors and Jonin instructors watched in shock.
Orochimaru was intrigued. “Fascinating. Let’s see how far he can go,” he said, eyes gleaming with interest.
Y?hi Shinku understood the true nature of this exam. It was a battlefield for the Hidden Villages’ future elites, each striving to prove their dominance.
The remaining teams would face even fiercer battles, with only the strongest progressing to the next stage.
