The Most Talented Pirate Hunter - Chapter 28
Bang!!!
Just as Hermes was enjoying the conversation, a group of over ten men burst into the tavern, each holding a wanted poster and exuding murderous intent. It was clear they weren’t here for a friendly chat.
Instantly.
The noisy tavern fell silent.
All eyes turned to the entrance.
“It’s the Violent Family.”
Someone whispered.
The wolf head tattoos on their hands identified them as official members of the Violent Family, making them easy to recognize.
Typical mobsters.
“They must be looking for the bounty hunter, Hermes Jormungandr.”
“Explosive Rabbit was killed, and Explosive Wolf is furious. He’s mobilized the entire Violent Family to find Jormungandr and avenge his brother.”
“But how do they expect to find him here?”
“Shh~ They must have followed a lead from somewhere else.”
The patrons murmured among themselves, some wary of the Violent Family’s power, while others were indifferent, not wanting to provoke the mobsters.
“The boss has issued a kill order. We must find the bounty hunter Hermes Jormungandr within three days. Anyone providing information will receive 5 million Berries, and whoever kills Jormungandr will receive 30 million Berries.”
The leader of the group, holding the wanted poster, scanned the tavern. His message was not just for his subordinates but for everyone present.
To be honest.
5 million Berries was tempting, and killing Jormungandr for 30 million Berries was a huge fortune.
Many were already planning to go out and search for Jormungandr. After all, getting 5 million or 30 million Berries for free was an opportunity not to be missed.
“30 million Berries? It seems my head isn’t worth much.”
Hermes didn’t bother hiding. He continued to chew on his meat leg while walking towards the leader, making his presence known.
It was clear he wasn’t satisfied with the 30 million bounty.
“Damn it.”
“It’s him.”
“The bounty hunter, Hermes Jormungandr.”
Momentarily stunned, the leader compared the poster to Hermes. Although the resemblance wasn’t perfect, it was close enough.
The entire tavern was stunned.
What the hell!
30 million was right next to them?
“No way, is this guy really Jormungandr?”
“The man who killed Explosive Rabbit?”
“Notify the boss, catch him.”
As soon as the leader spoke, he brandished his large knife and charged at Hermes, while ordering his men to send word to their boss. Whether or not they got the 30 million, the 5 million was a sure thing.
Clang!!!
“Do I look weak to you? Why do you think you can defeat me?”
The menacing blade swung down, but Hermes caught it between two fingers, his eyes cold and questioning as he looked at the stunned leader.
Catching a blade with bare hands, is a legendary skill.
The visual impact stunned everyone.
“Damn it.”
The leader’s face turned red, veins bulging on his neck as he put all his strength into the downward swing, but the blade barely moved a centimeter before stopping.
How could this seemingly frail kid have such immense strength?
“Seems I’ve been underestimated.”
Hermes casually tossed aside his meat bone and delivered a lightning-fast punch. The leader doubled over, eyes bulging as a wave of force surged from his back. Blood gushed from his mouth and nose as he released the blade, clutching his stomach and retching on the ground.
Hermes held the blade motionless, surveying the tavern with a calm demeanor.
Many were struck with awe.
“Shoot him, shoot him!”
The leader’s men weren’t useless, reacting immediately. Those with guns opened fire on Hermes.
Using his Observation Haki, Hermes deftly dodged the bullets, his movements smooth and effortless.
“Finger Pistol!”
His finger shot out like a dragon.
Wherever Hermes struck, a hole appeared in his target’s body, each hit a vital point, whether it was the throat or the kidneys.
Ahhh!
Agonizing screams filled the air as Hermes executed an overwhelming massacre.
“Kill him, kill him.”
“Die!”
“Take this, my ultimate move!”
The only advantage the Violent Family had was their numbers. While some provided cover with guns, others wielded long swords and hammers for close combat.
“King Iron Body.”
A stray bullet came his way.
Unable to dodge, Hermes had to take it head-on.
A metallic clink sounded as the bullet hit, causing Hermes a moment of pain. He countered with a Finger Pistol, killing the nearest thug, and then snatched the thug’s long sword, throwing it another five meters away.
The powerful throw pinned the thug to the wall.
In just three minutes, the battle was over.
The air was thick with the stench of blood. Hermes stood in a pool of it, his hands stained, surrounded by corpses in gruesome states. The onlookers pressed against the walls, swallowing hard.
Brutal.
“Boss, these heads should cover your damages!”
Leaving those words behind, Hermes lightly departed.
Only then did the onlookers breathe a sigh of relief.
That was terrifying.
By the time Explosive Wolf arrived with more men, they were too late.
He could only roar in fury and curse as they left.
Meanwhile.
Hermes didn’t return to the inn but set a new target.
At the Giraffe Pirates’ hideout, many were packing supplies, following their captain’s orders to leave soon.
They had received word.
Navy Vice Admiral Kuzan was reportedly in the Prodence Kingdom.
How annoying. To be chased this far, especially since they hadn’t provoked him, was frustrating.
“Excuse me, are you members of the Giraffe Pirates?”
Two burly pirates, guns and swords at their sides, were busy carrying items when a sudden voice startled them.
When did this kid show up?
“Get lost, you idiot.”
The pirate glared, ready to fight.
They were already annoyed.
Doing all the hard work themselves, they needed to blow off steam afterward.
“Where’s your captain? I need some money and thought I’d borrow his head.”
Both pirates stopped, incredulous.
One even cleaned out his ears, thinking he heard wrong.
“Kid, do you know who our captain is?”
The other pirate sneered.
“Giraffe Ent, bounty 58 million, right!”
Hermes pulled out a wanted poster, confirming his target.
“Kid, you must be looking to die.”
The pirates were furious, feeling mocked. Knowing their captain’s bounty and still talking about borrowing his head? It was a deliberate provocation.
“Forget it, just need to be sure.”
Hermes ignored them and walked past, heading inside. His target was Giraffe Ent, hoping for some challenge, unlike the mundane fight with Explosive Rabbit.
“Hey, he’s ignoring us.”
The pirates laughed.
One reached out to grab Hermes by the neck, intending to handle him like a chicken. After all, what threat could a kid pose?
Thud!!!
A powerful impact sent the grabbing pirate flying. Hermes side-stepped and kicked, causing the pirate to spit blood and crash into unconsciousness.
The other pirate stood in shock.
