The Most Talented Pirate Hunter - Chapter 39
“Dammit, dammit, dammit!”
Explosive Wolf was nearing madness.
His fur stood on end, covered in blood, exuding a menacing aura as he desperately attacked Hermes. But the more desperate he became, the more openings he left.
Hermes continued to evade with Observation Haki, occasionally using Iron Body enhanced with Armament Haki to take hits. Though his injuries grew, his spirits only lifted.
“Is this all you’ve got? How disappointing!”
Hermes grew even more brazen.
With his hands in his pockets, he dodged an attack with an air of nonchalance, mocking Explosive Wolf. His arrogant attitude only served to enrage his opponent further.
The fight had gone on long enough.
It was time to end it.
“You won’t leave here alive.”
Explosive Wolf sneered, confident that he was in his stronghold, surrounded by his men. He only needed to injure Hermes seriously.
Jormungandr would pay for his arrogance with his life.
*Bang!*
Hermes took a claw attack head-on with Iron Body, sparks flying as his chest was torn open. Without flinching, he raised his finger.
“Armament Finger Pistol.”
One shot.
The enhanced Finger Pistol’s penetration power was unparalleled, piercing through Explosive Wolf’s chest and interrupting his next attack.
Hermes seized the moment, delivering a kick covered in Armament Haki to Explosive Wolf’s abdomen, sending him flying, spitting blood.
“Rapid Fire Finger Pistols.”
Hermes relentlessly pursued, continuously shooting Finger Pistols at Explosive Wolf, preventing him from getting up and forcing him to roll on the ground.
The attack was seamless and fluid.
“Fire! Fire!”
Explosive Wolf’s eyes filled with fear as he realized he couldn’t keep up.
As Hermes approached with another kick, Explosive Wolf barely managed to block and pull away, shouting at his thugs.
His opponent’s sudden ferocity was overwhelming.
*Bang! Bang! Bang!*
Upon Explosive Wolf’s command, the thugs opened fire, bullets, rockets, and cannonballs filling the air, turning the area into a smoky battlefield.
Hermes didn’t take the brunt of the assault. He shrank to five millimeters and used the smoke and debris as cover to approach Explosive Wolf. No one noticed his movements.
Observation Haki was a godsend.
*Cough, cough, cough*
Explosive Wolf sat on the ground, gasping for air. Each breath aggravated his chest wound, causing him to wince in pain, but he kept his eyes on the smoke.
That brat had fought him for so long and taken such injuries; he couldn’t survive this assault. Even if he did, he’d be near death.
He would be the victor.
Just as he started to smile, his expression froze in disbelief and terror.
Hermes, back to his normal size, appeared in an instant, his Finger Pistol covered in armor haki aimed at the Explosive Wolf’s forehead.
No time to dodge.
With a crushing force, Hermes’ finger pierced through Explosive Wolf’s skull, shredding his brain. In that moment, Explosive Wolf was dead.
The surrounding thugs were stunned.
Their boss had been killed in an instant.
“The boss is dead!”
“Run!”
Some panicked, dropping their weapons and fleeing. If the boss couldn’t defeat him, they had no chance. This was their only chance to escape.
While some fled, others, loyal to the end, fired desperately at Hermes.
Hermes shrank again to five millimeters, continuing his assault with Finger Pistols. The fight was overwhelmingly one-sided.
Minutes later, the courtyard was littered with bodies, blood flowing like a river. The few who escaped found themselves surrounded by an army led by a general loyal to Elisabello II.
“These are all members of the Explosive Wolf family, and they’re scared out of their minds, saying there’s a monster inside. Explosive Wolf is dead.”
“Are you sure?”
“It’s definitely the bounty hunter Hermes Jormungandr.”
“When did His Majesty start associating with a bounty hunter?”
The general pondered. He had been ordered to take action against the Explosive Wolf family, a task he initially thought insane. The old king hadn’t dared to, given the family’s power and connections within the court.
But now, with Explosive Wolf dead, he could clean up the mess.
“Move forward.”
The general led his troops into the estate, shivering at the sight of the carnage. In the center stood Hermes, bloodstained and tattered, a terrifying figure.
In the blink of an eye, Hermes disappeared.
The soldiers, thinking they had imagined him, rubbed their eyes.
Soon, news spread that the Explosive Wolf family had been wiped out by the bounty hunter Hermes Jormungandr, who was allegedly aligned with Elisabello II.
Many began to take Elisabello II more seriously. A man capable of single-handedly destroying the Explosive Wolf family couldn’t be ignored.
“Is it true the Explosive Wolf family has been wiped out?”
In the palace, Elisabello II smiled.
He had anticipated some trouble but was pleasantly surprised by Hermes’ capabilities. Perhaps he had underestimated him.
“Most of them have been eliminated. Any stragglers are not worth worrying about.”
With Explosive Wolf and his key members dead, the general was confident in handling the aftermath.
“Haha, Jormungandr did not disappoint me.”
“The Explosive Wolf family has amassed considerable wealth over the years. Find it and investigate those who colluded with them.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
The general bowed and left without further questions.
With the defeat of the Scythe Pirates and the death of the Crown Prince as his first move, and now the destruction of the Explosive Wolf family as his second, Elisabello II’s third act would undoubtedly target the corrupt ministers.
The general was relieved to have chosen the right side.
The entire kingdom of Providence would soon change, ending years of chaos.
As news spread, the citizens began to hope that King Elisabello II could restore the kingdom to its former glory.
They had suffered for too long and needed a wise and powerful ruler to lead them out of turmoil.
