The Pirate: Dark Admiral - Chapter 12
Rougishu Hyuga’s Observation Haki easily picked up on the surrounding conversations.
The cause of the incident was quite laughable. It all started because the little girl, protected by the muscular man, wanted to sell a few flowers. She mistakenly approached the wrong customer. The young noble believed the girl polluted his sight and ordered his lackeys to beat her as a lesson.
Then, the muscular man rushed out from the crowd to protect the girl, but he didn’t dare to fight back for some unknown reason. He silently endured the beating from the noble’s lackeys.
It was cruel but also realistic. In the pirate world, human lives were as insignificant as grass. If you didn’t want to be blown away like dust, you had to seize control of your fate!
Hearing the arrogant and disdainful words of the young noble, the surrounding crowd showed their displeasure. However, considering the Marine patrol should arrive soon, they restrained their impulses, waiting for the young noble to get what he deserved.
Of course, their whispers were filled with disdain and contempt. After all, no normal person would like the behavior of a noble like him.
“Lord Rex, it seems we’ve encountered a tough one. This guy’s body is incredibly strong. Our punches and kicks aren’t having any effect,” said a butler-like servant, whispering to Rex, his voice tinged with fear. “If he starts to retaliate, we might be fine, but if he hurts you, Lord Rex, we’ll be in serious trouble.”
Moreover, from the conversations around them, they had a rough idea of what happens to troublemakers here, making them even more reluctant to continue their assault.
“What did you say?” Rex grabbed the butler’s collar, angrily questioning him. “What are you cowards afraid of? That guy doesn’t dare to fight back! Go and beat him to death for me!”
“Pfft! Are these guys here to make us laugh?”
“Haha! It’s the first time I’ve seen someone too scared to continue a beating.”
“Probably a fallen noble from some small country, all bark and no bite.”
Hearing the whispers, Rex felt his “lower celestial dragon” identity was greatly insulted. Combined with the misfortunes since leaving his island, his anger finally erupted.
Anger rose from his heart, and evil sprang to his mind.
“Since you want to protect this lowly commoner who offended a noble, you can die in her place!” Rex drew his pistol, aiming the dark barrel at the muscular man’s back.
“Ah! He’s going to kill someone!” The crowd erupted in chaos. They never expected the seemingly pampered noble would dare to murder a Marine base. Did he think of himself as a Celestial Dragon?
The muscular man protecting the girl changed his expression upon hearing the crowd’s screams.
If facing the enemy directly, he was confident he could slash the bullet with his sword, but now he was back-facing the threat, with no way to predict the shot. If he dodged, the girl beneath him would surely die.
From the hotel, Rougishu squinted. With his strength, he could easily stop the foolish noble before he fired, but since he planned to join the Marines with a perfect impression, why not use this opportunity?
Bang!
Rex didn’t hesitate. Even his trigger finger didn’t tremble. Executing a rebellious commoner only made his blood boil.
However, Rex’s ferocious face quickly froze. A young, determined-looking boy stood before the muscular man, catching the bullet. Blood seeped between his fingers, dripping onto the ground.
Rex widened his eyes in disbelief. Although the boy’s hand seemed pierced, he blocked the shot. He had heard of monsters dodging bullets, but catching one with bare hands was a first!
The chaotic crowd fell silent. Even in the Marine base, such a shocking scene was rare. Protecting the weak with his flesh brought a heartfelt touch to many.
Rougishu calmly opened his hand, letting the blood-stained bullet casing fall to the ground with a crisp sound. Ignoring the bewildered Rex, he turned to the muscular man.
“Why didn’t you fight back? With your strength, dealing with these attackers should be easy.”
The man raised his head, revealing a face so hideous it startled the crowd into stepping back. He seemed accustomed to it, speaking with a mix of inferiority and aspiration, “Because I want to become a Marine!”
Although his words seemed out of context, Rougishu immediately understood. The ugly man feared that if he fought back, he’d be treated as a troublemaker like the noble and lose his chance to enlist.
“Your thinking isn’t wrong, but pure weakness only fosters more violence. The justice the Marines uphold isn’t won through retreat or compromise.” Rougishu showed no discomfort at the man’s horrific face, smiling warmly.
“You… you’re not afraid of me?” The man was surprised.
“Afraid? Why would I be?” Rougishu shook his head, smiling. “You have a heart purer than anyone.”
Ignored, Rex snapped back from his daze. Humiliated and terrified, he pulled the trigger again, “You bastard, let’s see how many bullets you can stop!”
As Rex moved, Rougishu swiftly drew his pistol. With his Observation Haki locking on, there was no need to aim. The bullet left his gun and entered Rex’s barrel, exploding it.
Boom!
The gun exploded, fire bursting out. A twisted arm fell to the ground, accompanied by Rex’s pig-like screams.
The event was so intense that the surrounding crowd fell silent, jaws dropped, dazed.
The touched, ugly man widened his eyes, holding the hilt of his sword. Looking at Rougishu with admiration, he worriedly asked, “Is this really okay?”
Rougishu shrugged, “I just blocked his barrel with a bullet. He pulled the trigger himself. What does his lost arm have to do with me?”
