The Pirate: Dark Admiral - Chapter 17
“Ahhhh!”
A series of sharp screams suddenly shattered the peaceful atmosphere of the small town.
“Oh no, it’s the Great Axe Pirate Crew!”
“They must be here for revenge!”
“Don’t panic, the Navy is stationed on the island. These pirates won’t be arrogant for long!”
A group of ferocious pirates occupied the town’s largest square. Surrounded and imprisoned in the center of the square were residents who hadn’t had time to escape, now huddled together in fear.
“Where are those Navy scum? Release our captain immediately, or we’ll kill all these hostages!” a scar-faced pirate threatened loudly.
“If you want to die, go ahead and try!”
“Who? Who’s there?” The scar-faced pirate turned angrily, only to see a Navy officer draped in a cloak of justice leading a squad of Marines toward them from a distance.
“Huh? A little Navy brat, was it you who spoke just now?” the scar-faced pirate sneered, his face crisscrossed with scars, looking even more menacing.
At that moment, a pirate behind him, trembling, stepped forward and said, “First Mate, it’s him. He’s the one who captured our captain!”
“What? This kid?” The scar-faced pirate asked in disbelief, then his expression turned to horror as he remembered something. “Wait, could he be the Navy’s rising star? The one no pirate has escaped from in the past two years, known as the Light of the Navy, Longinus?”
“Y-yes, it’s him!”
“You guys want to rescue Great Axe Locke, right? I can hand him over to you, but only if you ensure the safety of these people,” Rougishusaid said, strolling towards them.
“Stop, stay back!” Seeing Rougishuapproaching, the scar-faced pirate screamed sharply, like a frightened wife cornered by a brute. “Don’t come near me, stay back!”
Even the townspeople watching from a distance found it hard to believe. Was this the same ruthless pirate?
“He’s so strong! Major Rougishuis incredibly powerful. Just his presence can instill such fear in a vicious pirate!” exclaimed a resident, his heart surging with admiration.
“Of course! Major Rougishuis a hero of the Navy. Whether it’s rescuing hostages or eliminating evil pirates in the surrounding seas, even participating in quelling national wars and uprisings, he accomplished all this in just two years,” another resident said proudly, despite Rougishunot being permanently stationed on the island.
Hearing the townspeople’s praise for Rougishuand their disdain for himself, the scar-faced pirate snapped back to reality, his shame turning to anger. “Longinus, you’d better know your place and release our captain, or I’ll start killing these hostages. Surely, a so-called just Navy officer like you wouldn’t let these people die by my hand!”
“I’ve already sent someone to bring Great Axe Locke from the prison, but remember this: if any harm comes to those people, I will hunt you down to the ends of the Grand Line and throw you into the deepest part of Impel Down, where death would be a luxury!”
Hearing Rougishumention Impel Down, the nightmare of all pirates, the scar-faced pirate shivered, his body trembling. “You… you better not play any tricks!”
The time they were passed slowly. The scar-faced pirate couldn’t help but swallow nervously. Despite being advantageous, his hands and feet couldn’t stop shaking.
“Those damned idiots! If they had told me earlier that the one who captured our captain was Saint Light Longinus, I wouldn’t have come to rescue him even if I were brain-dead!” the scar-faced pirate cursed inwardly.
“Major Longinus, we’ve brought Great Axe Locke!” A squad of Marines escorted a nearly five-meter-tall monster forward. However, the giant-like pirate captain showed no resistance, obediently walking like a submissive child. Upon seeing Longinus, he couldn’t help but shiver as if recalling some traumatic memory.
“Go on, your crew is here to rescue you,” Rougishusaid said coldly.
“Huh?” Great Axe Locke looked terrified, retreating continuously. “It’s not my fault. I didn’t ask them to come for me. Really, Major, you must believe me!”
Seeing the once-fierce pirate captain reduced to such a pitiful state, even the Great Axe Pirate Crew crew felt their worldview collapse.
“Captain, don’t be afraid. I have hostages. Even Saint Light Rougishuwouldn’t dare harm you!” the scar-faced pirate cursed inwardly but maintained a façade of loyalty.
“Idiot Bart, I knew you wanted to harm me. I didn’t expect you to still be so relentless. Get out of my way and let me go to Impel Down for labor reform,” Great Axe Locke shouted angrily at his subordinate, making it sound like Impel Down was some treasure trove.
The scar-faced pirate felt his scalp tingle. He knew his captain wasn’t a good person, but seeing him prefer going to the infamous Impel Down over escaping was shocking.
The crew of the Great Axe Pirate Crew was also in turmoil. What was this? Their captain, whom they had risked so much to rescue, didn’t want to escape. What kind of plot twist was this?
“Shut up, all of you!” The scar-faced pirate roared at his crew in fury, then turned reluctantly to Locke. “If you’re too scared to escape, that’s your problem. I’ll just become the new captain. But before that, tell me where the treasure map is hidden, or I won’t let you go today!”
The Marines and townspeople following Rougishushowed understanding expressions. This made more sense. How could these cruel pirates be so loyal to a defeated leader? They couldn’t see what qualities the cowardly Great Axe Locke had to inspire such loyalty.
The Great Axe Pirate Crew fell into chaos again. They never had much of their ideas, and some thought the first mate was honorable and heroic. But now, seeing his true intentions, they felt betrayed.
The scar-faced pirate’s face darkened. He had planned to take the treasure, then throw out the cowardly captain to appease the Navy’s anger, gaining fame and fortune. But the legendary Longinus, the Navy officer, ruined his carefully laid plans and even made his captain too scared to run.
