The Pirate: Dark Admiral - Chapter 6
Night fell, and silence reigned.
Rougishu Hyuga lay in bed, eyes opening calmly as he sat up. The Seven-Star Sword, glowing with an eerie green light, emerged from his hand, the blade softly vibrating.
“Three years, and you still haven’t given up? Every time I use your power, I’m reminded of the nightmare from three years ago. But… you should know, Allen is part of me… but I am not Allen!”
“He is just a fragment of my soul. Demi… I will find her, but only with power I can control!”
The green light gradually dimmed, the vibrations fading until the blade melded back into Rougishu’s body.
Rougishu didn’t mind. Compared to three years ago, this cursed weapon was much more obedient. Ultimately, it was just a mindless tool.
He now possessed a dominant, rational personality and two sub-personalities under his control.
The fragment of Allen’s soul formed a benevolent personality, which he used as his cover to enter the Navy. When it came to acting, who could surpass a genuine self?
Moreover, he could perfectly utilize his body’s natural talents in the benevolent state.
These included the Kenbunshoku Haki, similar to that of Aisa from Skypiea and Queen Otohime from Fish-Man Island, allowing him to see into others’ hearts if they were unguarded.
While not as exaggerated as Big Mom’s talent, it was still a top-tier starting ability.
The foreign soul from another world not only provided knowledge of this world’s future trajectory but also served as the host for the Seven-Star Sword. He possessed an incredibly lethal intent, which he called the “Slaughter Personality.”
This personality was the source of his strength because the lives taken by the Seven-Star Sword had their vitality and souls absorbed, ultimately feeding back into Rougishu’s body.
He had increased his physical strength to rivaling Zoan-type users within three years because he had nearly wiped out the surrounding Sea Kings.
This was also why Rougishu didn’t plan on eating a Devil Fruit. With a reliable and powerful source of strength, why give up the entire ocean for a single Devil Fruit?
After all, Rougishu knew that near Fish-Man Island, ten thousand meters under the sea, there were super-giant Sea Kings thousands of meters long. That was his biggest asset in reaching the top of the world.
As for souls… the effect of Sea Kings’ souls was far less potent than those of humans, especially strong ones.
Therefore, Rougishu set his sights on Impel Down, seeking opportunities for slaughter as a Marine.
The dominant rational personality could switch soul states at will, allowing him to maintain a perfect disguise and even fool the highest-level Kenbunshoku Haki users.
Under the threefold soul pressure, the dominant personality had a leadership aura, making his words law to the “young soldiers.”
Although this leadership-like ability only worked on those with weaker wills, it eliminated Rougishu’s last worry about joining the Navy—the Celestial Dragons.
Rougishu knew that unless he defected from the Navy like some predecessors, dealing with the Celestial Dragons was an unavoidable problem for every Marine.
With soul suppression, he wouldn’t have to worry about impulsively killing a Celestial Dragon out of impatience.
In Rougishu’s view, unless one could overthrow the World Government, killing a Celestial Dragon would only worsen things, even if the killer could escape an admiral’s pursuit. Those he “saved” would suffer even greater retribution.
Rougishu didn’t see himself as a good person,
but he despised hypocrites who acted like heroes while committing evil. In short, he didn’t plan on killing Celestial Dragons, but his alternate identity in doing so had nothing to do with him.
After all, as Lu Xun said, an alias and the main body are legally independent entities!
…
The next day, golden sunlight pierced through the clouds, shining on the sea, with the gentle sea breeze brushing against the smiling faces of the people.
Those who survived a brush with death often emerged stronger. Although the shadow of death hadn’t fully lifted, they felt lucky to have survived the Giant Rhino Pirates’ attack, unlike towns massacred by them.
All this was thanks to one person, an outsider from three years ago.
“Rougishu, thank you so much for yesterday!” The mayor said, half ashamed, half grateful. “Or rather, thank you for everything over the past three years!”
“If it weren’t for you and everyone saving me three years ago, I would have died battling the waves, never seeing this day,” Rougishu shook his head, refusing to take credit.
“Yes! The luckiest thing for our town was rescuing you from the beach three years ago,” the mayor sighed.
The townspeople gathered, continuing the celebration from the day before, but more importantly, to bid farewell to Rougishu.
“Rougishu, you must come back and visit us often!” A snot-nosed little kid said reluctantly.
“What are you talking about? Rougishu is going to be a Navy Admiral! Such a big shot will be busy capturing evil pirates and won’t have time to play with you!” Bachi waved dismissively, believing that a Navy Admiral was a hero dedicated to justice every moment of their life.
Rougishu simply smiled, not shattering his romantic fantasy.
“Then I… I will join the Navy when I grow up, fight like Rougishu, and protect everyone!” The little kid wiped his nose and declared boldly.
With the townspeople’s blessings, Rougishu smiled warmly, “Well… everyone, I’m leaving now. If all goes well, I should join the G2 branch of the Navy. You can find me there if you need anything!”
Almost all the townsfolk tearfully said their goodbyes: “Rougishu, work hard to become a Navy Admiral! Though this town isn’t your hometown, we will always be proud of you!”
Rougishu waved and walked towards the sea without looking back.
A few pirates who survived by maneuvering their ship followed him timidly, boarding a ship that originally belonged to the Giant Rhino Pirates.
Unfurling the sails and steering the ship, Rougishu’s vessel gradually disappeared over the horizon.
