The Scourge of One Piece - Chapter 6
It wasn’t that Maude was pretending to be confused.
It was mainly because Sunny’s timing for asking the question was so strange.
Seeing Maude’s puzzled expression, Sunny added, “Arthur’s hand.”
“Oh, that…”
Maude looked at Sunny, perplexed.
After a pause, he put down the mop bucket and slowly reenacted the dodging motion.
After completing the motion, he looked at Sunny and said uncertainly, “Like this?”
Sunny remained silent.
A few seconds later, there was a sudden thud from behind the counter.
Maude instinctively glanced at the counter and noticed the handle of a gun partially exposed at the edge.
Sunny promptly said, “Just a gun that accidentally fell. Don’t worry about it.”
She bent down, picked up the gun, and casually placed it on the counter.
“I didn’t quite catch your demonstration. Could you show it again?”
“…..”
Maude looked at the flintlock pistol lying on the counter, its barrel unintentionally pointed at him.
He pondered for a moment but decided not to demonstrate the meaningless move again.
Though Sunny’s motive is unclear, he figured he couldn’t just brush it off.
“I didn’t use any special method. I was just prepared at the time, so I could dodge it. Besides, it’s no big deal, right?”
Sunny listened quietly to Maude.
After a while, she nodded and said calmly, “Indeed, it’s no big deal. Continue with your work.”
“…..”
Maude was speechless and silently labeled Sunny as peculiar.
Then, he put the mop bucket in the storage room.
When he returned to the shop, Sunny was still in her spot.
The flintlock pistol that had been on the counter was gone, replaced by a piece of paper with a pencil on top.
Glancing at the paper and pencil, Maude asked, “Can I go back to my room now?”
Sunny nodded and pulled out the paper from under the pencil, signaling Maude to take it.
Understanding, Maude walked over to the counter and accepted Sunny’s paper.
It had a few lines of writing.
A quick glance revealed some instructions.
So little content yet specifically written down?
Maude was puzzled.
Pocketing the paper, he glanced at the pencil and had a thought.
“Sunny, can I take this pencil back to my room?”
“Suit yourself.”
“Thank you.”
Maude took the pencil and left.
Sunny watched him go, then pulled out a notebook and a newspaper from the drawer under the counter.
She placed them on the counter.
Setting the newspaper aside, she opened the notebook halfway.
The page was filled with information and names.
Sunny scanned it, then flipped to the next page.
It also had writing, with Kid’s name prominently listed in the top half.
Without lingering, Sunny flipped through several more pages until she found a completely blank one.
Then, she took a pencil from the drawer, glanced at the newspaper, and started writing in the notebook.
Several minutes later, Sunny stopped writing.
The once blank page was now more than half-filled with writing.
At the bottom of the page, she had written Maude’s full name and a large question mark.
After a final look at Maude’s name, she closed the notebook and put it and the pencil back in the drawer.
“Time to talk to Thor.”
Sunny muttered to herself.
Maude returned to the room where he had woken up.
He was a bit surprised at how easily he was accepted.
However, it seemed Thor, who called the shots, was very casual about such matters.
He probably brought Maude back just to use him as labor for the shop.
“Since I’m here, I might as well settle in.”
Maude murmured, locking the door behind him. He then sat on the dusty chair and examined the paper Sunny had given him.
**Stay indoors both day and night, do not leave the house.**
**Do not touch the items on the shelves.**
**The basement is off-limits.**
**There are ingredients in the kitchen fridge.**
**We’ll discuss other things tomorrow.**
Maude finished reading the instructions with a complicated feeling.
These few things could have been said directly.
Maude shook his head slightly, unable to understand Sunny’s style, and tossed the paper onto the equally dusty table. He then picked up the pencil he had brought.
**Hunter’s Notebook**
With a thought, the black notebook appeared out of thin air.
Flipping to a blank page, Maude closed his eyes and tried to recall his memories of One Piece.
To consolidate and organize these memories, he planned to write them down slowly, sort through them, and rewrite them multiple times.
Although the quill paired with the Hunter’s Notebook had no ink, it was the only pen that could leave permanent marks in the notebook.
As for other pens.
For instance, the pencil in Maude’s hand.
He could scribble freely on any page of the Hunter’s Notebook.
But once the notebook was put away, the writing and doodles turned into graphite dust and fell away.
This allowed Maude to use this feature to solidify his memories.
These memories, converted into information, could become his future resources.
“The most memorable ones are still the Straw Hat Pirates…”
“After all, they’re the main characters, and a lot of information is disclosed about them.”
“But their true strength develops two years after the story starts.”
“That’s too far away…”
“Judging by Kid’s current age, there should be a few years before the story begins, right?”
“Besides, there are more suitable targets. No need to focus on them.”
“By the way, the Arlong Pirates. I wonder if the Hunter’s Notebook works on Fishmen, or even Giants!”
“If it does, that would be incredible.”
“Speaking of which, the Arlong Pirates are in the East Blue, and this is the West Blue. Can I even get to the East Blue by sailing?”
“I remember Kid is from the South Blue. Since he can come to the West Blue, going from the West Blue to the East Blue should be possible.”
“Thinking about it now seems pointless.”
As Maude organized his thoughts, he wrote and drew on the page.
Despite knowing little about navigation, it didn’t stop his thoughts from wandering.
Lost in his thoughts, time passed quickly.
In Thor’s room.
Several candles were placed on the windowsill, beside the bed, and on the table, providing ample light for the room.
Although electric lights were more convenient, Thor chose not to use them.
This was one of the things Sunny never understood.
“You specifically came to tell me that Maude is unusual?”
Thor sat cross-legged on a large double bed, holding a long gilded pipe in his right hand.
Smoke swirled, slightly choking.
His gaze pierced through the smoke, scrutinizing Sunny.
“But you know, I never care about such things.”
“Thor, Maude is different from the others.”
“How so?”
“…..”
Sunny couldn’t quite explain.
Thor gently rubbed his pipe.
“You’re right, he is different.”
