Unscientific Scientist From Sunagakure - Chapter 178
Having talented and unique subordinates is beneficial, but managing them improperly can be problematic. Each has ideas and can get out of control without proper discipline and guidance. After venting his frustrations, Muzake sent them to discuss solutions and formulate a remodelling plan.
Another fruitful day passed.
Several days later, at the Faraday Industrial Park:
Dust and Qiku, the Fifth Brigade’s Third Unit members, were patrolling.
Dust, a victim of a racing accident, had his right eye and left leg replaced with mechanical prosthetics after the originals were destroyed. With its cold gaze, his mechanical eye was no match for his teammate Qiku’s natural poker face, which was as cold as ice and unwelcoming.
Both clad in exoskeleton suits, armed with electric 3D maneuver gear and twin high-frequency blades, presented a formidable sight as they walked. However, the villagers were used to this sight and showed no fear.
The two were frustrated that their abilities were limited to mere village patrols.
The establishment of a new system by Muzake, complete with various management organisations and a comprehensive welfare system, meant that rarely any disturbance required the patrol units to spring into action.
As usual, the two were aimlessly walking when they heard a commotion near the main gate of the industrial park.
Finally, something to do!
Excited by the break from their mundane routine, Qiku even showed a rare flicker of emotion, his lips twitching slightly.
They exchanged glances and hurried towards the noise.
However, the situation turned out to be minor and almost laughable.
A camel, part of a group brought by the Saran tribe, had been spooked and broke free from the herder’s control. It was causing chaos, and the bystanders didn’t know how to handle it.
Dust and Qiku still took their job seriously. Qiku stepped forward and calmly subdued the 500-600-pound camel with ease.
The Saran tribespeople expressed their gratitude.
“Thank you so much.”
Qiku, maintaining his stoic face, didn’t respond.
Dust advised, “Be more careful next time.”
“Thank you.”
As the Saran tribespeople led the camel away, Dust’s mechanical eye scanned one individual who didn’t seem right.
“Hey, who are you?”
The man was covered from head to toe in a hooded robe, blending in with the Saran people, but Dust’s analytical eye noticed that the man’s clothing style and decorations differed from those of the Saran people.
What was he doing mixed in with them?
The man hesitated.
Dust commanded, “Come here.”
Qiku also turned his attention to the man.
As the man approached, intending to question him, he suddenly threw off his robe since the Hidden Sand Village had long been free of incidents.
Underneath was a ninja’s attire. He brandished a pen in one hand and unfurled a scroll with the other.
“Not good!”
Dust and Qiku were instantly on alert.
Sai’s attack had begun.
Ninja Art: Super Beast Imitation Drawing.
A myriad of ink beasts surged from the scroll, including eagles, snakes, unicorns, birds, dragons, mice, and cats, all lunging at them.
“Damn, a spy.”
Both men drew their blades.
With their twin swords, they danced through the air, their high-frequency blades buzzing. These blades could cut through virtually any material by vibrating particles at a high frequency to heat the blade and make objects molecularly disintegrate.
The ink beasts stood no chance against the high-frequency blades and disintegrated upon contact. However, the dispersing black ink temporarily blinded them, causing panic among the bystanders, who screamed and scattered.
This chaos hindered Dust and Qiku’s ability to react promptly.
By the time they cleared their vision, Sai had already begun his next move.
Super Beast Imitation Drawing: Cloud-Style Bird.
He mounted a bird-shaped ink creation and leapt over the wall.
“The bastard, don’t think you can escape!”
Dust and Qiku activated their 3D maneuver gear. Devices on their waists shot out anchors that clung to the wall, and with the help of battery-powered fans pulling the cables back, they were rapidly propelled towards Sai.
With the 3D maneuver gear, their chase was swift.
Knowing the danger of their high-frequency blades, Sai knew a direct hit could cripple him.
He quickly used Super Beast Imitation Drawing: Grass-Style Snake, drawing several water snakes that surged towards the duo.
The more obstacles around, the more agile the 3D maneuver gear became, but with only a single wall available for maneuvering, their space to dodge was limited.
They cut through the water snakes with their blades, but the ink obscured their vision, allowing other snakes to strike.
Both were hit and lost track of Sai.
Sai successfully crossed over the wall and disappeared into the desert.
The trio was stunned.
Why hadn’t the perimeter defences reacted?
Back in the central control room, Muzake watched the screens, which showed Dust and Qiku attempting to leap over the wall to chase after Sai.
He chuckled to Yoruichi, “Your Fifth Brigade members are quite spirited.”
Yoruichi asked, “Lord, is it okay to let a spy steal that?”
“Of course,” Muzake grinned. “If he didn’t steal it, how would I have a heart-to-heart with Tsunade?”
“Ha, now it’s Danzo and Tsunade’s headache.”
