Vongola Primo in One Piece - Chapter 413
Xanxus felt he had underestimated his opponent. Initially, he believed that anyone who took a direct hit from his Flames of Rage would at least be incapacitated, if not outright defeated. However, it seemed his opponent, despite appearing dazed, had only suffered minor injuries akin to mere scratches. This realisation was troubling because it indicated that the seemingly sluggish opponent possessed considerable strength.
In truth, it was understandable why Xanxus might have been complacent. The destructive power of his Flames of Rage was well-known. However, he didn’t know that Aimu, the seemingly dazed opponent, had an unusual trait. Even when appearing lost in thought, Aimu’s body instinctively employed the Iron Body technique, one of the Six Powers. Moreover, Aimu had honed his Iron Body to near perfection, focusing solely on enhancing his defence to the utmost limit.
Simply put, when Aimu used Iron Body, he couldn’t move but became nearly impervious to damage. In his dazed state, he was naturally immobile, making it the perfect condition for an Iron Body to be most effective. Thus, even if Xanxus had used his Beast Emperor Cannon, Aimu could withstand the attack, though he’d undoubtedly be injured.
Turning his attention back to Xanxus, Aimu asked his comrade, Axe, “Do you need my help?”
“Get lost, idiot. This guy is my prey. Didn’t you see me use my ability? Go do what you need to do!”
Axe’s message was clear: he would handle Xanxus while Aimu should focus on unfreezing Kaido. They had thoroughly investigated before coming here and knew that the ice sealing Kaido required powerful Armament Haki to break. Coincidentally, Aimu was an expert in using both Armament and Observation Haki.
However, at the critical moment, there was a problem…
Aimu nodded, but then, upon turning his gaze to the ice-encased Kaido, he again became lost in thought.
Axe felt a surge of frustration. Working with Aimu often meant dealing with his sudden bouts of inattentiveness, even during battles. However, this also indicated that Aimu didn’t feel threatened; he only snapped out of his daze when sensing a life-threatening danger. His current state suggested that he didn’t view Xanxus as a significant threat.
“Seems like I’ll have to handle this myself. But if I defeat this guy, the higher-ups will be pleased.”
With that thought, Axe charged at Xanxus. In his transformed tiger-man form, his speed had significantly increased. But Xanxus, never one for flashy techniques, responded by lifting his twin pistols and unleashing a barrage of flames. The power of the Flames of Rage was enough to obliterate any enemy before him.
Facing the dense onslaught of flame-lion heads, Axe didn’t dodge; he charged straight through them as if unfazed.
The next moment, Axe emerged unscathed from the Flames of Rage and was right before Xanxus. With a swipe of his tiger claw, he attacked.
Xanxus instinctively raised his guns to block, but the force of Axe’s blow sent him flying, only stabilising after being knocked back several dozen meters.
“Damn bastard!”
Xanxus cursed under his breath, realising something was wrong. While evading the initial attack was one thing, emerging unscathed from the full force of the Flames of Rage was another. How had Axe managed to do it?
It wasn’t arrogance; Xanxus believed that the Flames of Rage unleashed by his Beast Emperor Cannon were inescapable, even for the Guardians. Not even the strongest Guardian, Arnold, could escape unscathed. Yet, Axe had done it unless his strength surpassed an Admiral’s, which seemed impossible.
“It looks like you’ve figured it out, but you can’t understand why I can easily avoid your powerful attacks, right? The truth is, any normal person would be injured by those flames. But not me. I’m invincible. There’s no one in this world who can defeat me.”
Axe grinned wickedly, “Even the Geno you defeated years ago was no match for me. And Tengu and Gaki were even less of a threat. Don’t underestimate the strongest shield, because we can always become the strongest spear… when you threaten the interests of the World Nobles!”
The strongest shield of the Celestial Dragons was also their strongest spear.
Despite the metaphor, the CP0 officers’ strength was terrifying.
“If the CP0 officers all acted together, not even the Rocks Pirates could defeat these top-tier fighters groomed by the World Government’s 800-year foundation.”
“Enough talk, turn to dust!”
Xanxus didn’t let enemies monologue. If he couldn’t figure it out, he would simply crush them with sheer firepower!
However, the situation repeated itself. Axe once again charged through the Flames of Rage, appearing behind Xanxus. Such a sudden attack would be brutal to counter for most, but Xanxus had super intuition, enabling him to respond quickly in battle.
Relying on this instinct, Xanxus swiftly turned and fired, aiming directly behind him. The lion-head flames erupted, and Axe, realising the danger, quickly used Moonwalk and Shave to dodge, but the fire grazed his right arm, leaving visible scars.
“Ah, so that’s how it is,” Xanxus muttered, a fierce smile forming.
