Yasuo in Marvel - Chapter 36
###
Not long after, a large contingent of S.H.I.E.L.D. reinforcements arrived. The suspected mass-produced bio-engineered vampires demanded Nick Fury’s attention.
Since successfully creating Captain America during World War II, various countries had secretly conducted super-soldier experiments. Nick Fury couldn’t guarantee whether any country had used vampires as test subjects. Although the techniques seemed immature, the fact that these creatures could annihilate S.H.I.E.L.D.’s fully armed Rapid Response Special Forces highlighted their threat.
Numerous personnel in protective suits entered the scene, collecting samples from all bodies and bloodstains.
Feeling bored, Yasuo watched them meticulously clean every drop of blood from the ground. Extremely bored, Yasuo decided to have the rookie agent drive him home.
As he was about to leave, Yasuo had a confrontation with S.H.I.E.L.D. A middle-aged researcher blocked his way, intending to detain Yasuo under the pretext of potential infection from the new creatures. His crazed eyes suggested he wanted to dissect Yasuo for research, reminiscent of a predator eyeing its prey.
Ultimately, Sharon Carter intervened, taking a blood sample from Yasuo for testing, ending the matter without further involvement from Yasuo.
Yasuo guessed that the blood sample wasn’t taken to check for infection but to determine if he was human. As a legitimate human, Yasuo had previously tested his blood, finding nothing of research value.
Yasuo silently reminded himself to be cautious with S.H.I.E.L.D. in the future. Simple cooperation (Yasuo’s idea of cooperation was providing enemies for him to defeat and collect rewards) was fine, but deeper interactions were not.
On the way home, the rookie agent sternly escorted Yasuo back to Manhattan. The rookie agent, thoroughly impressed by Yasuo’s strength, regarded him as a high-ranking, secret ace within S.H.I.E.L.D., feeling honored to escort such an important figure.
That night’s experiences were thrilling for Yasuo. In the early hours, he fought and killed the vampire recorder Pearl, and by dawn, he had slaughtered numerous hybrid vampires and the Blood God, Deacon Frost. Later, he defeated a horde of mutated vampires, the ‘Reapers.’ Indeed, the Marvel world was full of monsters and crimes, making Yasuo’s life exhilarating.
Checking his system, Yasuo saw that he had spent 450 gold coins, leaving him with over 8400. Each ‘Reaper’ was worth as much as a cannon minion in terms of gold.
That night was truly rewarding, Yasuo thought, smiling contentedly as he drifted off to sleep.
While Yasuo slept peacefully, Nick Fury sat in his office, his expression grim.
The first news of the morning came from Alexander Pierce. The Vampire Prince had approached the U.S. Congress early in the morning, accusing S.H.I.E.L.D. of mass slaughter of low-level vampires, breaking the millennia-old peace treaty between humans and vampires. The Prince condemned S.H.I.E.L.D.’s actions, suggesting they intended to provoke a new war between humans and vampires.
The U.S. government also expressed dissatisfaction with S.H.I.E.L.D. for raising the security level without consulting them and for controlling New York City without permission.
Alexander Pierce warned Nick Fury to prepare for several departmental meetings and discussions that day.
The second piece of news was relatively good. Agents Coulson and Barton successfully delivered Deacon Frost to ‘The Raft,’ a high-security section of the ‘Prison,’ without any incidents or rescue attempts from other vampires.
The third report came from Sharon Carter. The first part: Yasuo’s blood test results were entirely normal, indicating he was a regular human, not a mutant or an altered human.
However, Sharon Carter’s tone became serious as she continued, “Based on eyewitness reports from Brock Rumlow (Crossbones), site photographs, initial research, and blood tests, it’s clear that a mysterious organization is conducting live experiments with vampires. These experimental vampires lack the usual weaknesses of ordinary vampires, such as silver and garlic. Their regenerative abilities, strength, and speed are significantly enhanced. Apart from extreme bloodlust and lack of intelligence, they are almost perfect.”
Nick Fury’s expression darkened further as he listened to Coulson’s report. “Do you understand what you’re saying, Agent Sharon Carter?”
“I fully understand, sir,” Sharon Carter replied calmly.
The world had become increasingly unstable since mutants appeared, though their numbers were few and those truly destructive were even rarer. Super-soldiers had been a research priority since World War II, with few successes. Now, the sudden appearance of man-made mutated vampires was like producing televisions: once you made one, mass production was possible. If tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of these mutated vampires appeared on the battlefield, the consequences would be unimaginable for Nick Fury.
At this moment, Nick Fury felt an overwhelming desire to completely eradicate vampires.
Determined, Nick Fury ordered, “Classify this as Level 9 confidential. Keep this incident under wraps. Your next task is to investigate the source of these mutated vampires.”
“Understood, sir,” Sharon Carter accepted the mission and left.
An even more troubling issue was that there was still no news about Tony Stark. A massive search operation in Afghanistan had yielded nothing for 24 hours.
Stark Industries was not only the largest arms dealer in the country but also a huge conglomerate backed by numerous American politicians. Additionally, Tony Stark was the son of Howard Stark, one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s founders.
Far away in Afghanistan, Tony Stark’s situation was dire. After demonstrating his latest weapon, he was attacked by a ferocious terrorist group. The soldiers protecting him were killed, and Tony was hit by shrapnel.
Fortunately, a doctor named Yinsen saved his life by using an electromagnet to prevent the shrapnel from reaching his heart.
However, the terrorists had captured Tony to force him to build a powerful Jericho missile for them.
Whether it was S.H.I.E.L.D.’s troubles or Tony Stark’s peril, none of this concerned Yasuo. Waking up, Yasuo was only worried about why Coulson’s promised payment hadn’t arrived. Trying to contact Coulson, Yasuo found his phone was turned off.
